Multiscale Ability?

That didn't make sense. Marvin's Dragonite had already been struck by Dragon Claw once, which should have negated the Multiscale ability.

"Heh," Chris chuckled softly. It didn't matter whether Dragonite had Multiscale or not.

Because his current Garchomp was no longer the same Garchomp that had battled Keaton!

"Dig!" Chris commanded.

The surrounding area was completely blocked—the sky filled with an incoming avalanche that would turn the entire battlefield into a frozen wasteland. Mega Garchomp immediately crouched down, its twin scythe-like arms working like industrial drills as they effortlessly broke through the ground.

In the blink of an eye, it vanished beneath the battlefield.

Using the simplest move to dodge what appeared to be the most destructive attack.

Rumble.

However, Subzero Slammer wasn't so easily avoided.

The avalanche's scope was massive, and with its extremely low temperature, the moment it made contact with the ground, it instantly froze the battlefield's soil. Even the Dragon God Whirlpool wasn't spared. This wasn't pure snow, but flowing energy that followed Mega Garchomp underground, threatening to blast right through the earth itself.

"Earthquake!" Chris snapped his fingers.

The battlefield immediately erupted with violent tremors. The frozen dragon whirlpool shattered instantly, scattering across the ground, and the cold wave attempting to penetrate underground was lazily severed by the Earthquake's force.

As the ground split apart, Dragonite quickly took to the sky.

But Garchomp's Earthquake was just the beginning.

The next move was Sand Tomb!

After Earthquake had ravaged the earth, the ground became extremely unstable.

The shattered terrain transformed into a sea of sand in mere moments.

A massive vortex formed in the center, resembling a giant millstone that devoured and ground everything that fell into it—including the remnants of the frozen tornado and the lingering cold waves.

Unfortunately, Dragonite possessed the Flying typing, making it immune to Ground-type moves.

Otherwise, this would have been a one-sided massacre from the very beginning, relying solely on the sacred power that Garchomp carried!

Marvin's eyes flickered as he gained a better understanding of Chris's Mega Garchomp's combat capabilities.

Not counting the defensive Dig maneuver, the combination of Earthquake and Sand Tomb had completely destroyed both his original technique "Dragon God Whirlpool" and the Z-Move "Subzero Slammer."

It was clear that this Garchomp specialized in Ground-type attacks.

"Rock Pledge!" Chris called out, employing a move he had developed.

Immediately, massive stone projectiles shot forth from the battlefield's vortex, trailing earthy flame streamers as they rocketed straight toward the airborne Dragonite.

Rock Pledge—a Rock-type move inspired by Fire Pledge, Grass Pledge, and Water Pledge.

This technique wasn't particularly difficult for Garchomp, being a Ground-type Pokemon.

After all, the essence of this move was channeling power into the ground and then launching attacks from below at the target.

So in addition to Rock Pledge, Garchomp could also perform Ground-type variations or even a Dragon-type "Dragon Pledge."

Like Fire Pledge, Grass Pledge, and Water Pledge, combining two pledge moves in succession could produce battlefield-changing effects.

Of course, Garchomp's Rock Pledge hadn't yet been developed to combine with other pledges for such dramatic environmental changes.

"Dodge!" Marvin commanded.

Unable to locate Garchomp's position, he could only direct Dragonite to evade for now.

But there was no need to worry—battle regulations stated that if a Pokemon remained off the battlefield for too long, it would be declared the loser.

The conceptual range of this battlefield extended twenty meters from the ground up into the sky.

This rule prevented Ground-type and Flying-type Pokemon from remaining airborne or underground indefinitely, which would reduce the battle's entertainment value and potentially lead to passive fighting or forced draws.

Dragonite tilted slightly sideways, its bulky body moving with surprising grace as it deftly avoided boulder after boulder.

However, just when Marvin and Dragonite thought they had successfully evaded the attack...

One of the rocks in the Rock Pledge suddenly exploded in the air directly above Dragonite's head.

BOOM!

Suddenly, the sky was covered by a layer of green energy!

Countless dark green meteors the size of basketballs rained down from above, as if a natural disaster was about to devastate the entire battlefield.

"Draco Meteor..." Marvin immediately recognized the attack and shouted his command. "Protect!"

Dragonite instantly crossed its arms, covering its body with an invisible barrier while simultaneously darting through the air, trying to avoid as many of the Dragon Star impacts as possible.

Witnessing this scene, Chris's lips curved into a slight smile.

Developing this Rock Pledge variation hadn't taken Garchomp two months at all. The truly time-consuming part was learning to wrap the already highly unstable Draco Meteor energy within the rock projectiles without any energy leakage that might alert the opponent.

Only by achieving this could the move have its intended surprise attack effect.

Rock Pledge? No, the true name of this technique should be "Meteor Pledge!"

It combined both Rock Pledge and Draco Meteor damage effects, and—

"Dragon Rush!" Chris commanded in a low voice.

The final rock projectile shot into the sky exploded directly behind Dragonite.

The apex predator, Mega Garchomp, revealed itself in the air. Its draconic eyes blazed with murderous intent, and its massive soul-reaping scythe gleamed with an icy light under the blazing sun. It was positioned just five meters away from Dragonite!

Sorry, but it wasn't only Draco Meteor hidden within the rocks—Mega Garchomp's real body had been concealed there as well.

You thought it was a double attack? No, no, no—it was a triple strike!

Swish...

The extremely subtle sound was the vibration of Mega Garchomp's twin blades tearing through space itself.

In an instant, a black and green dragon roared toward its target.

Dragonite's battle instincts immediately sensed Mega Garchomp's approach and exploded into action. Disregarding the falling meteors, it instantly whipped around and countered with Dragon Claw.

CRASH! A muffled impact echoed across the battlefield.

Mega Garchomp absorbed Dragonite's Dragon Claw attack, carried the dragon straight upward, smashed through two falling meteors, and slammed its opponent directly into the battlefield wall.

After the tremendous crash, the wall cracked inch by inch as smoke and dust filled the air.

A dark silhouette moved within the smoke as Mega Garchomp slowly returned to Chris's side.

Everyone quickly focused their attention on the settling dust.

When the smoke cleared, the wall was so thoroughly shattered that the energy barrier at the battlefield's edge was visible. Dragonite's body was embedded in the energy shield, its eyes having become swirling spirals.

The referee quickly assessed Dragonite's condition and announced the result. "Dragonite is unable to battle! Garchomp wins!"
