Chris, having regained his composure, returned to the Ferrum Alliance battlefield to investigate what had occurred.
In one corner of the arena, a black portal remained visible. Upon approaching it, a prompt appeared on his handheld device.
[Enter special dungeon "Darkness Falls"? Yes/No (This dungeon will disappear after completion)]
[Recommended entry level for dungeon: 100]
Upon seeing this dungeon option, Chris breathed a sigh of relief.
Being defeated by Shadow Mewtwo wasn't particularly surprising. The opponent was a legendary Pokemon that had reached the maximum level of 100 and had been enhanced by "darkness" corruption.
It would have been strange if he hadn't been defeated instantly under those circumstances.
However, since this encounter had transformed into a re-enterable dungeon, there would come a day when he possessed the strength to defeat Shadow Mewtwo. When that time arrived, the legendary Pokemon would definitely become his!
"I never expected to discover such an incredible opportunity in the Ferrum Region," Chris smiled, expressing his complete satisfaction with his journey to this territory.
The next time he returned, it should be to capture Shadow Mewtwo himself. After all, there wasn't much else of interest remaining in this region.
Before departing, he needed to exchange his accumulated Ferrum Alliance battle points. If his calculations were correct, his current point total should have reached well into the millions.
Chris made his way to the Ferrum Alliance lobby and requested that the staff check his point balance and available exchanges.
He currently possessed a total of 1.51 million points - enough to exchange for multiple Mega Evolution stones if desired.
After receiving the exchange catalog from the staff member, Chris discovered rewards he had never encountered before. These included legendary Pokemon items and various Pokemon special move manuals, also known as "resonance moves."
The legendary items were impressive enough, but the resonance moves represented one of the Ferrum Region's exclusive features. These techniques could only be used by the corresponding Pokemon in conjunction with special "Resonance Stones."
If Chris remembered correctly, these were derivative moves that appeared exclusively in the "Pokken Tournament" fighting game.
Examples included Lucario's "Aura Sphere Climax," Pikachu's "Volt Tackle," Machamp's "Dynamic Punch," and similar techniques - all moves that Pokemon couldn't naturally learn through conventional methods.
During his battle with Glenn, the champion hadn't used Machamp's resonance move, presumably because the battle had ended too quickly. Glenn hadn't had sufficient time to accumulate the energy needed to activate his Resonance Stone before being defeated.
After reviewing all the Pokemon special move manuals available in the entire Ferrum Alliance, Chris found only four techniques that matched his current team.
Gardevoir's special move manual (Fairy Tempest) required 100,000 points to exchange.
Gengar's special move manual (Hell's Gate) required 80,000 points to exchange.
Blaziken's special move manual (Blaze Kick) required 70,000 points to exchange.
Garchomp's special move manual (Outrage) required 100,000 points to exchange.
The four Pokemon special move manuals would cost a total of 350,000 points - equivalent to the price of 2-3 Mega Evolution stones.
However, Chris wasn't in a rush to purchase them immediately. He also wanted to examine the exchange rates for legendary Pokemon items.
Aqua Mantle (Legendary Tier): 500,000 points required for exchange (from the legendary Pokemon "Suicune")
Shadow Mist (Legendary Tier): 450,000 points required for exchange (from the legendary Pokemon "Darkrai")
Only two legendary Pokemon items were available for purchase.
The Ferrum Region was not only geographically isolated but also possessed significantly fewer resources compared to other regions.
Chris wished there were more legendary Pokemon items to choose from, but with limited options available, he could afford to acquire everything.
The two legendary Pokemon items totaled 950,000 points, and adding the four special move manuals brought the total to 1.3 million points.
This left him with 210,000 points remaining - enough to exchange for one additional Mega Evolution stone.
However, since he didn't currently lack any evolution stones, Chris decided to save these points for future use. When he trained new Pokemon that required special move manuals or Mega Evolution stones, he would have the resources available.
After completing his exchange, the Ferrum Alliance staff promptly delivered all purchased items to Chris.
The four special move manuals were straightforward - using them would teach the corresponding Pokemon their respective techniques.
Chris was genuinely surprised by the two legendary Pokemon items, as they weren't held items but rather consumables!
Aqua Mantle (Legendary Tier): After use, increases Water-type move power by 20%. Purifies negative status effects every 3 seconds and grants Suicune's exclusive resonance move "Absolute Zero Blizzard." (Note: Can only be used on Water-type and Ice-type Pokemon.)
Shadow Mist (Legendary Tier): After use, increases Dark-type move power by 20%. Additionally provides the ability to merge with shadows and grants Darkrai's exclusive resonance move "Eternal Eclipse." (Note: Can only be used on Dark-type Pokemon.)
"Incredible!" Chris couldn't help but gasp in amazement.
He immediately retracted his earlier criticism of the Ferrum Region.
Although this region was small and possessed limited resources, the items it produced were all premium quality!
While the two legendary Pokemon items provided relatively modest power increases and abilities, they allowed Pokemon to master exclusive resonance moves that wouldn't normally be available to them.
Most importantly, as consumables, their effects didn't occupy the limited held item slots!
This meant the stat boosts, abilities, and exclusive resonance moves were essentially free bonuses!
"Water, Ice, and Dark types..." Chris was ready to use these items on his Pokemon immediately.
The Aqua Mantle could only be used on Water-type and Ice-type Pokemon. Since he didn't currently train any Ice-types, his Water-type options were limited to Greninja and Gyarados.
Chris decided to give the Aqua Mantle to Greninja. As one of his main Pokemon for upcoming champion battles, it was absolutely necessary to enhance Greninja's combat capabilities.
Shadow Mist could only be used on Dark-type Pokemon, and he only had two Pokemon with Dark-type attributes available.
These were Greninja and Tyranitar.
After a moment of consideration...
Chris silently decided to give the Shadow Mist to Greninja as well.
This wasn't favoritism - the shadow-merging ability simply suited Greninja's fighting style better than Tyranitar's. The ability to disappear into shadows would make Greninja's ninja image even more pronounced and effective!
Who would have thought that Greninja, despite not having its own exclusive resonance moves initially, would become the biggest beneficiary of this trip to the Ferrum Region?
