CHAPTER 2: YOU SHOW DUEL SCHOOL
Morning at the Sakaki Residence
Andrew woke to the smell of breakfast cooking. For a moment, he forgot where he was—then the memories of yesterday flooded back.
Right. Different world. Different life. Same deck.
He got dressed and headed downstairs, where Yuya's mother greeted him warmly.
"Good morning, Andrew! I hope you slept well."
"I did, thank you. And thanks again for letting me stay."
Yuya bounded into the room, already full of energy. "Morning! Ready to check out You Show?"
Andrew smiled. "Definitely."
You Show Duel School
The school was smaller than Andrew expected, but it had character. Colorful banners hung from the walls, and the atmosphere felt welcoming.
Yuya led him through the halls, pointing out different areas. "This is where we practice Action Duels. Over there's the strategy room. And that's where—"
"Yuya!" A voice called out.
A girl with pink hair jogged up to them—Yuzu.
"Oh, you're the guy from yesterday! Andrew, right?"
"That's me."
Yuzu smiled. "Thanks again for helping us. Sylvio's always causing trouble, but yesterday was something else."
"No problem. Couldn't just stand by and watch."
Another figure approached—a younger boy with mint-green hair and a lollipop in his mouth.
"So you're the new guy? Name's Sora. You any good at dueling?"
Andrew raised an eyebrow. "I'd like to think so."
Sora grinned. "Good. Maybe you can give Yuya some real competition."
Yuya laughed. "Hey! What's that supposed to mean?"
The group's easy banter put Andrew at ease. These people… they felt genuine.
Meeting the Headmaster
Skip Lloyd, the headmaster of You Show, was an eccentric man with wild hair and an even wilder personality.
"Welcome, welcome! So you're the young duelist who helped Yuya yesterday. Impressive! Very impressive!"
"Thank you, sir."
"Now, if you want to enroll here, I'll need to see what you can do. How about a duel?"
Andrew's eyes lit up. "Against who?"
"Against me, of course!"
Duel: Andrew vs. Skip Lloyd
Field: You Show Duel ArenaLP: Andrew 4000 | Skip 4000
Skip grinned. "I'll go first! I summon Performapal Hip Hippo!"
A cheerful hippopotamus creature appeared on the field.
"I'll set one card and end my turn."
Andrew drew. "My turn. I summon Berry Magian Girl in Attack Mode!"
The small spellcaster appeared, her staff glowing softly.
"When she's summoned, I can add one 'Magian Girl' from my deck to my hand. I choose Lemon Magian Girl."
"Next, I activate the Continuous Spell—Dark Magical Circle! When I activate this card, I reveal the top three cards of my deck and add one that mentions 'Dark Magician' to my hand."
He revealed the cards and added Dark Magician to his hand.
"I'll set two cards and end my turn."
Skip chuckled. "Not bad! My turn! I summon Performapal Sword Fish!"
The duel continued, with Skip showcasing his Performapal monsters and Andrew demonstrating the synergy of his Magian deck.
Finally, Andrew activated Magician's Navigation during Skip's Battle Phase, Special Summoning both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl.
"With Dark Magician on the field, I activate Dark Magic Attack! All your Spell and Trap Cards are destroyed!"
Skip's field was wiped clean.
"Now, Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl—attack directly!"
Skip LP: 4000 → 0
Winner: Andrew
After the Duel
Skip laughed heartily. "Excellent! Truly excellent! You've got skill, Andrew. Welcome to You Show Duel School!"
Andrew shook his hand. "Thank you. I'm looking forward to learning here."
Yuya clapped him on the back. "That was amazing! Your deck is so cool!"
Yuzu nodded enthusiastically. "The way Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl work together—it's like they're really connected to you."
Andrew smiled, thinking of his spirit companions. "Yeah. They are."
Evening - Guest Room
That night, back in the guest room, Andrew sat with his deck spread out before him.
Dark Magician Girl appeared, sitting beside him. "You did great today."
"Thanks. It feels good to be part of something again."
Dark Magician materialized as well. "This is only the beginning, Andrew. There will be greater challenges ahead."
"I know. But with you guys by my side, I think I can handle it."
Kuriboh chirped and nestled into Andrew's lap.
Andrew chuckled. "Yeah, you too, buddy."
The three spirits stayed with him late into the night, their presence a constant comfort.
