Chapter 517 - Chapter 518: Advancement and Plans

Time flew by, and another day passed.

By evening, as usual, Seimei completed his final round of training and began practicing the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

One repetition, two, three...

Since the Shadow Clone Jutsu didn't require as much thought as other ninjutsu, grinding proficiency progressed swiftly.

In just under an hour and a half, he had completed the planned number of repetitions for the day.

And with that came advancement.

Yes, after a one-day delay, his Shadow Clone Jutsu finally leveled up.

Now at level 6, the jutsu's capabilities had significantly improved.

The most noticeable enhancement was the number of clones he could produce.

At level 5, his maximum was twenty shadow clones.

Now, he could summon a full thirty clones.

Looking at the dense crowd of shadow clones surrounding him, Seimei nodded in satisfaction.

Though he didn't currently need so many, once he obtained a Tailed Beast and no longer had chakra shortages, these clones would become invaluable to his growth.

Of course, if possible, Seimei still wanted to learn the advanced version of the jutsu—the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!

At that point, it would feel like having a cheat code.

Unfortunately, without the necessary prerequisites, he couldn't learn the technique out of thin air.

But Seimei wasn't overly concerned.

For one, the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu wasn't particularly difficult to acquire in Konoha. While it was a forbidden technique, it was labeled as such primarily to protect the user from self-inflicted harm.

So, if he wanted to get his hands on it, it wouldn't be too hard.

Secondly, Seimei had a strong hunch: once he mastered the Shadow Clone Jutsu to level 7—its perfected state—he would naturally be able to learn the advanced version.

And this wouldn't take long.

To go from level 6 to level 7 required 10,000 proficiency points. Given his current investment of 30,000 chakra daily and a gain of 200 proficiency points, he'd accumulate enough in about fifty days.

That's less than two months—a timeline Seimei found entirely acceptable.

These thoughts flitted briefly through his mind before Seimei refocused his attention, canceling the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Boom!

With a puff of chakra smoke, all the clones dissipated and returned to his body.

Opening his status panel, Seimei checked his chakra levels and began calculating its expenditure.

Eventually, he concluded that advancing from level 5 to level 6 had reduced the chakra drain for each shadow clone from one-sixth to one-fifth of his reserves.

Another one-percent reduction—a satisfying improvement for Seimei.

Moreover, with the Shadow Clone Jutsu leveling up, the clones' durability had also increased.

Though still far less resilient than his real body, the clones could now hold out a bit longer during battles—an improvement he welcomed, however small.

With the fundamental tests for the upgraded Shadow Clone Jutsu complete, Seimei turned to what interested him most.

His expression grew serious as he focused, channeling chakra and forming hand seals to activate the Wind Release: Wings of Wind!

Whoosh!

A pair of pale blue chakra wings emerged, lifting Seimei into the air with a few flaps.

Then, forming seals again, he cast the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Boom!

Another puff of smoke, and a shadow clone with identical wings appeared beside him, hovering in midair.

Seeing this, Seimei couldn't suppress the joy on his face.

Finally, he'd succeeded.

For a long time, he'd wondered if he could use the Shadow Clone Jutsu while airborne, summoning clones with flight capability.

Until now, he had repeatedly failed, forced to land before performing the technique—a clear inconvenience and a potential vulnerability.

But now, with his Shadow Clone Jutsu at level 6, he had overcome that limitation.

From here on, his aerial combat flexibility would greatly improve.

Overjoyed, Seimei directed the clone to test the Wings of Wind, eager to see its full potential.

Following his command, the clone immediately flew off at high speed.

Seimei quickly dispelled the seal on his forehead, activating his Byakugan to observe its movements. At the same time, he used Mind Link Jutsu to monitor the clone's feelings.

After about fifteen minutes of testing, Seimei confirmed that the shadow clone could fully replicate the Wings of Wind, utilizing it to the same degree as his real body.

However, there was a downside: the chakra consumption was much higher.

By his calculations, the clone's chakra usage was approximately three times that of his own for the same maneuvers.

This meant its flight endurance was only a third of his own.

As a result, using the clone for long-range flights was impractical.

But Seimei didn't mind.

After all, he had developed this capability primarily for combat, not travel.

Moreover, he believed this drawback could be mitigated.

At the very least, as the Wings of Wind advanced in level, its chakra cost would likely decrease.

Speaking of which, after four days of practice, his Wings of Wind was close to leveling up.

Before pushing for that final advancement, however, he needed to restore his chakra.

Lately, he had deliberately kept his chakra reserves low to minimize the cost of Shadow Clone Jutsu, but now it was time to replenish them.

With this in mind, Seimei sat cross-legged and began actively circulating his Chakra Refining Technique. Combining this with his natural recovery rate, he quickly restored his reserves.

Once everything was back on track, Seimei turned his thoughts to the next challenge: developing the Shadow Sword Technique.

This was the final piece in perfecting his swordsmanship system.

When his Shadow Clone Jutsu had reached level 5, he'd started preliminary research on the technique and determined its path:

First, he would master the Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu. Then, using it as a foundation, he'd develop the Shadow Sword Technique.

Unfortunately, at the time, his Shadow Clone Jutsu was still too underdeveloped to continue, forcing him to shelve the project.

But now, with his Shadow Clone Jutsu at level 6, it was time to revisit it.

Thinking about all the tasks ahead, Seimei felt a growing sense of urgency. His chakra reserves already seemed insufficient for everything he needed to do.

Unconsciously, his gaze drifted toward the direction of Yujin Port.

Perhaps the Mist Ninjas there would have to suffer a little more.
