Chapter 424 - Chapter 425: Hidden Threats and Opportunities

At the same time, elsewhere...

To the east of the Blackstone Outpost, roughly two kilometers from the coastline, aboard a Mist Ninja warship, the commanding Mist Jonin received a distress call from the strike force. He frowned slightly.

Having realized that breaking through the main battlefield was unlikely, he had activated his contingency plan—dispatching another team stationed at Flying Fish Town to launch a land-based assault on the southern side of Blackstone Outpost.

However, not only had the strike failed, but the team was also now caught in a dire situation.

What's worse, based on the intelligence received, they had suffered significant losses.

This left Oozawa Yoshiki gravely disappointed.

"Tch, that damn Uchiha Seimei again."

Oozawa Yoshiki grunted in displeasure as he scanned the report.

First, it had been Seimei who had discovered their movements, and now, the same ninja had thwarted their carefully laid plans. This repeated interference had fostered an intense animosity toward Uchiha Seimei.

Just then, a knock echoed on the door.

"Come in," Oozawa Yoshiki commanded, tucking away the report as he sensed who it was.

The wooden door creaked open, and a figure entered the room.

"Captain, you called for me?"

The newcomer wasted no time and got straight to the point.

"Indeed," Oozawa Yoshiki nodded. "Ao, the strike force is in trouble. I need you to handle this."

That's right—the man was none other than Ao, known across the shinobi world as the Byakugan Hunter.

Ao's brows furrowed upon hearing the news. "But wasn't Zangetsu in charge over there? What went wrong?"

"Hmph!"

Oozawa Yoshiki snorted derisively. "Forget about him—he's already dead."

"What?"

Ao's expression shifted to shock.

While Ao didn't consider Zangetsu particularly strong, he knew the man's survival skills were unparalleled. Hearing of his death came as an unexpected blow.

However, Ao quickly composed himself and asked in a grim tone, "Who did it?"

"Uchiha Seimei."

Oozawa Yoshiki's reply was sharp and immediate.

"Him again?"

Ao muttered, his brows knitting tighter.

He had been investigating Seimei's abnormal prowess and had already found it unsettling. Now, this name had surfaced again.

Unwilling to waste time, Oozawa Yoshiki cut to the chase. "The situation over there is deteriorating. I want you to lead the reserve unit and reinforce them immediately."

"Your mission isn't just to rescue our forces—it's also to exploit the opportunity to attack Blackstone Outpost from the south."

His tone hardened as he continued, "And if you find the chance, eliminate Uchiha Seimei."

The last few words were uttered with unmistakable venom.

Ao hesitated for a brief moment but ultimately nodded in agreement.

While he was confident in completing the first two objectives, eliminating Uchiha Seimei was another matter entirely.

Kiri had already targeted Seimei multiple times, yet the man remained a thorn in their side. Ao doubted his abilities alone could accomplish what a dedicated think tank had failed to achieve.

His instincts told him that unless he uncovered the truth behind the anomaly he had sensed in Seimei, any attempts to subdue him would likely be in vain.

Nevertheless, orders were orders. After acknowledging them, Ao left to make preparations.

Unbeknownst to Seimei, Ao was close to unraveling the secret behind his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Given more time, Ao might have discovered Seimei's most critical trump card.

That said, even if Ao deduced the truth about Seimei's Mangekyō, it didn't guarantee that he could counter its abilities. Still, it could potentially create complications for Seimei.

For instance, if Ao disclosed the information, it would invite trouble from all corners—within the village and beyond. Many would covet the eyes of an Uchiha who had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Although Seimei's current strength made him capable of fending off such threats, constant harassment was bound to be a headache.

It was for this very reason that Seimei had gone to great lengths to hide his Mangekyō Sharingan, preferring to avoid unnecessary attention.

If Seimei were aware of how close Ao was to uncovering his secret, he would undoubtedly act preemptively to eliminate the threat.

Unfortunately, he wasn't.

That said, Oozawa Yoshiki's arrangements inadvertently created an opportunity for Seimei to neutralize the looming danger.

As fate would have it, Seimei had recently decided to address his shortcomings in reconnaissance and had set his sights on Ao.

Should Seimei successfully eliminate Ao during this confrontation, he could also prevent the potential exposure of his Mangekyō Sharingan.

If he failed, the revelation of his Mangekyō abilities would be inevitable.

The choice now lay with Seimei.

Half an hour passed.

Back on the battlefield, Seimei's relentless efforts had completely turned the tide in Konoha's favor. The Mist Ninja forces were now being thoroughly suppressed.

Notably, Seimei had also assisted a Konoha Special Jonin in defeating an opponent during his "firefighting" efforts, reducing the number of Mist Jonin in the field to four.

Satisfied that the situation among the lower ranks had stabilized, Seimei prepared to focus on eliminating the remaining four Jonin and securing total victory.

But just as he was about to move, a familiar voice resonated in his mind—it was none other than Yamanaka Aoi.

"Seimei Jonin, according to recent intelligence, the Mist Ninja forces have dispatched a reserve unit to provide reinforcements. Captain Sano requests you remain vigilant."

"Reinforcements? How many?"

Seimei asked, halting in his tracks.

"That's unclear," Aoi admitted awkwardly. "They're using their reserve forces, and our scouts couldn't get close enough to provide an accurate estimate."

Hearing this explanation, Seimei felt a wave of irritation.

However, he quickly honed in on a crucial detail: the reinforcements were coming from the Mist's reserve unit.

In other words, these were fresh troops who hadn't yet seen action on the battlefield.

Given that Sano Nobuhisa had already deployed nearly all available personnel to contain the Mist Ninja, Konoha now lacked additional manpower to counter this new threat.

Realizing this, Seimei's voice took on an edge. "You're not telling me there's no support from the outpost, are you?"

"Of course not!"

Aoi quickly denied, seemingly sensing Seimei's annoyance. "Captain Sano is already reallocating forces from the battlefield to send reinforcements your way. Your task is to delay the enemy as much as possible."

"That's more like it."

Seimei muttered under his breath.

Without wasting another moment, he instructed, "Got it. Tell Captain Sano to hurry. I'll scout ahead."

Not waiting for Aoi's response, Seimei cut off the mental link.

With no time to dwell on the peculiarities of the Mind-Body Communication Technique, he swiftly formed seals, activating his jutsu: Wind Style: Wind Wings.
