Chapter 9 - Understanding of the path of Cultivation

Fang Hong meticulously searched the female in green, and finally, he found a book with "Gathering Qi Skill" written on its cover.

Immediately after, he found thirty thumb-sized white crystals in a hidden pocket on her person.

These crystals emitted faint Spiritual Qi fluctuations, clearly not ordinary items.

Finally, he also uncovered a book titled "Mo Li's Travels".

Fang Hong collected all these items, intending to take them back and examine them thoroughly when he had time.

Looking at the female in green's corpse, Fang Hong directly pulled out the demon gourd and absorbed her body into it.

This female was a Cultivator, and the Spirit Pills refined from her would surely be much stronger than those from wild beasts, definitely providing great help to his Cultivation.

After dealing with the female in green's corpse, Fang Hong went over to the male's side.

The male was dressed in a black robe, with a thin physique, and a bulging square cloth bag tied around his waist.

Fang Hong noticed this cloth bag at first glance, secretly pleased, his intuition telling him it must contain many good things.

Fang Hong reached out, untied the cloth bag, and opened it to find twenty white crystals inside.

Although the quantity was slightly less than what he found on the female, the quality seemed almost the same, also emitting faint Spiritual Qi fluctuations… Besides these, there was also a stack of blank yellow Talisman paper, a Talisman brush, Talisman ink, as well as a "Gathering Qi Skill" and a book titled "Elementary Talisman".

Fang Hong thought this square cloth bag was good, its material sturdy and capable of holding things, so he decided to keep it for his own use.

As for the male's corpse, he also used the demon gourd to absorb it.

After completing all this, Fang Hong looked around, confirmed that he had not missed any valuable items, and then left the scene with peace of mind… Fang Hong stayed in the mountain forest for another three hours, striking without hesitation whenever he encountered a Demonic Beast.

Under his efforts, many more Demonic Beasts became "food" for the demon gourd… It wasn't until evening that Fang Hong, laden with a full harvest, began to descend the mountain, heading towards the village.

Fang Hong returned to the village entrance, but did not go directly home; instead, he walked towards the village market, carrying three large wild pheasants he had hunted in the mountain forest.

These three pheasants had vibrant feathers and stout bodies; he had specifically prepared them for trading for rice.

The rice at home had run out, and he planned to exchange the pheasants for some rice at Dazhuang's place.

"Ah! It's… it's Fang Hong!!" A sharp-eyed villager saw Fang Hong approaching and immediately screamed in terror.

The villagers, who were busy working on the village road, heard the shout and all turned their heads.

Upon seeing Fang Hong, their faces instantly turned pale, as if they had seen the most terrifying fiend in the world.

Without thinking twice, they scrambled and ran home, their movements so frantic that the items in their hands fell to the ground.

In the blink of an eye, the bustling village road became empty, with only Fang Hong walking in the middle… Fang Hong watched this scene, shaking his head with a smile. These villagers looked at the Immortal Masters of the Taiyi Sect with reverence, so why did they look at him as if he were a ghost?

Fang Hong ignored these villagers and walked straight to Dazhuang's rice shop.

The rice shop was located in a corner of the village market, a simple wooden house, and at this moment, its door was tightly shut, with silence all around.

Fang Hong furrowed his brow slightly and called out, "Come out."

His Divine Sense had already detected Dazhuang trembling inside.

Hiding inside the house, Dazhuang's body trembled violently upon hearing Fang Hong's shout, his face turning pale with fright, his entire being uneasy, even his breathing becoming cautious.

"If you don't come out, I'll burn down your rice shop!" Fang Hong's eyes flashed with displeasure when Dazhuang didn't respond.

"No, no, no… I'm coming out right now!!" Dazhuang almost collapsed to the ground upon hearing this, his voice tinged with a sob.

He didn't care about much else, quickly opened the door, and stood trembling before Fang Hong, saying, "Li-little Hong, oh no, no, no… Immortal Master, please spare my life! I was just watching the commotion that day, it has nothing to do with me!"

Dazhuang thought Fang Hong was there to cause him trouble, and he was extremely scared.

Fang Hong looked at Dazhuang's appearance, rolling his eyes speechlessly, and said unhappily, "Give me two bags of rice."

"Ah?" Dazhuang froze in place.

"Hurry up! What are you still standing there for?!" Fang Hong shouted loudly when Dazhuang didn't react.

"Oh, yes, yes, yes…" Dazhuang finally came to his senses, quickly turned and ran into the house, carried out two bags of rice, and placed them in front of Fang Hong.

Fang Hong nodded with satisfaction, placed the two large wild pheasants on the rice shop's table, then picked up the two bags of rice and turned to leave.

Dazhuang watched Fang Hong's retreating back until he disappeared from sight, then finally let out a sigh of relief, slumping to the ground, his back already drenched in a cold sweat…

Fang Hong returned home, placed the rice in the jar, and began to make a fire to cook rice, and also stewed a large pot of chicken soup, enjoying a hearty meal.

After eating his fill, Fang Hong returned to the small wooden house, closed the door, sat on the bed, and began to inventory today's harvest.

He first took out the demon gourd, cast a spell, and instantly, a white light shone from the gourd's mouth, spraying out tiny luminous particles.

Fang Hong looked closely and saw that they were all crystal-clear Spirit Pills, emitting a soft glow and overflowing with Spiritual Qi.

Among these hundreds of Spirit Pills, two were particularly striking, with exceptionally abundant Spiritual Qi and a brighter glow than the others.

Fang Hong's face lit up with joy; these must have been refined from the two Cultivators, indicating that this trip to the mountain forest had indeed yielded a significant harvest.

With a wave of his hand, he placed these hundreds of Spirit Pills into a porcelain bowl on his bedside.

With the aid of these Spirit Pills, Cultivation would certainly be twice as effective with half the effort.

Fang Hong hid the demon gourd at the bedside, then opened the square cloth bag, preparing to examine the other items.

He first took out the two "Gathering Qi Skill" books and carefully perused them.

According to his understanding, these should be the Cultivation Techniques practiced by the two Cultivators… However, after perusing them, Fang Hong's expression gradually turned to disappointment.

These two "Gathering Qi Skill" books were identical, both only recording the Cultivation incantations for the first eight layers of the Qi Refinement Stage, and compared to his "Qi Condensation Skill", they were still lacking; his "Qi Condensation Skill" at least had ten layers of incantations.

Fang Hong shook his head helplessly, placing the "Gathering Qi Skill" aside, estimating that this "Gathering Qi Skill" was probably a common Cultivation Technique in the Immortal Realm… After putting down the "Gathering Qi Skill", Fang Hong then turned his attention to the book "Mo Li's Travels".

He gently opened the book and read the first two pages, only then realizing that this book was a travelogue written by a Foundation Establishment Stage Loose Cultivator named "Mo Li" during his travels through various countries.

The book's content was incredibly rich, covering the geography, culture, Cultivation Schools, and various common Cultivation knowledge of different countries.

For example, the Realms of Cultivation, Cultivation Techniques, Talismans, Yao Beasts, and so on, it was truly all-encompassing!

Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Core Formation, Nascent Soul, Soul Transformation, Void Refining, Body Integration, Mahayana, Undergoing Tribulation and Ascension.

These Realms of Cultivation gradually became clear before Fang Hong, giving him a deeper understanding of the path of Cultivation…
