Chapter 245 - MP 245: The Dirge of the Tides

What kind of nonsense is this?!!

Targeting the Grand Servant first because they pose the greatest threat? Is this Beast II's ability to discern the danger level of her enemies?

Staring at the crimson beam hurtling toward him, Tezcatlipoca's mind raced with unease.

He could feel the terrifying power contained within the magical beam, its sheer scale and magnitude clearly aimed at erasing him entirely.

An attack of this caliber was troublesome, but not impossible to block. Yet even if he blocked this one, what about the second, the third, or even the tenth?

Against an enemy like this, whether launching an active assault or mounting a passive defense, victory seemed unattainable.

He needed to come up with another plan.

At the same time, he was searching for the specific connection between himself and this Mother of Genesis, why had the Counter Force sent him as a Grand Servant? It meant that in this war, against Tiamat as Beast II, he must have a unique, irreplaceable role.

Grand Servants are the key to defeating Beast II.

If the old man's mission was to grant Tiamat the concept of death at the critical moment, then what was his? When and how should he use his Grand Saint Graph?

"What a pain…"

Tezcatlipoca cursed under his breath, then raised his palm, transforming his body into smoke to dodge Tiamat's beam at lightning speed.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

The crimson beam, rivaling a Heroic Spirit's Noble Phantasm, narrowly missed him, tearing through the ocean below with ease. It carved a deep trench in her path, leaving irreparable damage to the region.

But the onslaught was far from over. Seeing her surprise attack dodged so effortlessly, Tiamat's gaze shifted slightly, locking onto Tezcatlipoca again. Her eerie, star-patterned purple pupils flashed, and, as he had feared, another devastating beam followed, giving him no chance to catch his breath. Her intent was clear: to obliterate him.

"Ha? You're relentless! Quetzalcoatl's jumping all over you, and you're still fixated on me?"

Tezcatlipoca darted aside, narrowly evading another attack. Facing yet another incoming beam, he glared, raising his palm to brace for the impact and prepare a counterstrike.

But in the next instant, a white blur flashed before him.

Someone was faster. Roy's figure appeared in front of Tezcatlipoca, intercepting the beam. He raised his hand, flicked his fingers, and with a sharp "Whoosh!!" unleashed a devastating white light cannon infused with destructive magical energy. Like a streak of light, it split the crimson beam in two.

"Tiamat…"

Roy lifted his gaze, his ice-blue eyes shimmering with white radiance, locking onto Tiamat's star-patterned stare.

Buzz… Buzz… Buzz…!!

A faint tremor pulsed through his mind. What was this sensation?!

The moment their eyes met, Roy's gaze faltered briefly, and an ethereal voice echoed in his mind before fading just as quickly.

To confirm that fleeting, strange sensation, he activated the Third Magic, infusing his pupils with white light. He stared deeply into Tiamat's eerie, star-patterned eyes, seeking to uncover the essence hidden within this beast of calamity.

"My children…?"

"…Flee… quickly…"

The deliberately suppressed voice was faint and childlike, its tone frail, betraying a dire state.

Yet even so, it carried a trace of kindness and concern. Though faint and weak, it was there, hidden within the roaring black mud, buried beneath the endless malice of Beast II's form.

Without his mastery of the Third Magic and his unique Mystic Eyes, which heightened his sensitivity to souls, Roy would never have detected this sliver of rationality and care amidst the chaos.

In that brief moment of contact, Roy was certain,

This consciousness wasn't the Beast II bringing endless calamity to the world and humanity. It was the true Tiamat, the Goddess of Beginning who loved humanity and still retained her rationality…

But now, she was in trouble. Her faint rationality was being consumed by boundless hatred and madness, leaving her body controlled by obsession and frenzy, rampaging as the Evils of Humanity, Beast II.

Despite her pain and regret, the accumulated hatred and madness were beyond the control of mere will.

To make matters worse, those damned Demon God Pillars had deliberately fed Tiamat the hatred of magical beasts, Gorgon's resentment, and their own disdain for the world, channeling them into three Holy Grails. Through the Blood Fort Andromeda and the Sea of Life, they amplified her power.

This caused Tiamat's scale to far exceed expectations, her body now a vessel of compounded, endless resentment that no words could sway.

To save this world and clear this singularity, there was no choice but to defeat this Goddess of Beginning, who had consumed three Holy Grails and three sources of resentment, reaching nearly half her full unsealed power.

In the Demon God Pillars' calculations, a Tiamat of this magnitude was beyond even a Grand Servant like Grand Berserker Tezcatlipoca. The fall of Chaldea and Uruk was only a matter of time.

Roy, sensing the situation, didn't rashly attack Tiamat like Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca. Instead, he used the Third Magic to resonate his soul with the faint consciousness buried within her endless madness, attempting communication. He asked softly, "Can you hear me, Goddess of Beginning…?"

This time, the response wasn't the faint murmur of the Goddess of Beginning but a second magical beam erupting from Tiamat's eyes.

Whoosh!!!

A blinding crimson beam surged forth, carrying world-shattering force toward Roy.

Danger!!

Roy's heart skipped a beat. He snapped back to focus, preparing to defend, but Tezcatlipoca patted his shoulder.

"Don't stop, Master. That Beast's will wavered just now. I don't know what you did, but for a brief moment, the Goddess of Beginning faltered."

As he spoke, Tezcatlipoca raised his bone spear. With a piercing screech, he hurled it through the air, striking the crimson beam head-on. In an instant, both spear and beam annihilated each other.

Boom!!

The violent explosion shook the surrounding seas. Tezcatlipoca raised his palm again, conjuring a new bone spear, landing beside Roy. "What you just did was more effective than any attack we've landed so far. Keep communicating with her, Master. You might find a way to defeat her."

Roy paused but chose to follow Tezcatlipoca's advice. He fully activated the Third Magic, locking eyes with Tiamat's and projecting his will toward the voice within her.

"Come, Goddess of Beginning. I can feel your pain and understand that your actions now are not your true intent."

"Open your heart to me. Let me see your true thoughts and desires. Your hatred, your unease, I'll accept them all."

At that moment,

"Aaaaaaaaa!!!"

As their gazes locked, Tiamat, who had been indifferent to the world and ignored her surroundings, showed a rare flicker of emotion in her eyes, anger… or perhaps evasion? A mix of both.

This time, Tiamat didn't wait for the three insects to make their move. She struck first.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

It wasn't just another crimson magic cannon. It was waves… towering black waves, the chaotic Sea of Life unique to Tiamat.

With the Mother of Genesis's wrath, she raised her pristine neck and began to sing loudly. The once-calm sea surged violently, her melodious yet destructive song rising in pitch. The waves behind her climbed higher with her voice, the chaotic tides intent on swallowing everything in their path.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

The beautiful yet powerful Song of Creation ignored all physical or mental defenses, resonating directly in Roy's mind, forcibly interrupting his attempt to connect with Tiamat.

Before they could react, the pitch-black Sea of Life roared forth, forming hundred-meter waves that engulfed the entire sea, aiming to swallow Roy, Tezcatlipoca, and Quetzalcoatl, still perched on Tiamat's head, making them part of the ocean's nourishment.

An overwhelming sense of pressure and danger.

This primordial ocean, with its inherent threats, was Tiamat's authority, the terrifying power of [Nega-Genesis].

Sea of Life is the ocean that birthed life itself. By cycling the True Ether of Earth's creation, this ocean provides infinite magical energy. Those trapped in the black mud and submerged are randomly granted skills like Self-Modification, Ecological Change, Ecological Fusion, and Individual Proliferation. Upon emerging from the ocean to the surface, a cellular-level contract, the Amino Geass, is formed with Beast II, automatically making them enemies of humanity.

Nega-Genesis is a skill akin to Beast VI's Nega-Messiah. A conceptual barrier that overturns existing evolutionary theory and Earth's creation prophecies. Beast II, bearing this skill, has extreme resistance to Noble Phantasms from Servants born of Proper Human History.

These two troublesome abilities left Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl struggling to make any headway against Tiamat. While their trump cards could cause some irreversible damage, that alone wasn't enough. The tool Tezcatlipoca held wasn't a purely destructive skill but one of division, and he was constantly probing for the opportunity to use it.

The dirge of the tides, the howling magical energy, and the terrifying authority pressing down on them.

This scene shattered Roy's plan to stand still and communicate with Tiamat. Quetzalcoatl, to evade the Sea of Life, whistled and leapt into the sky, swiftly escaping the perilous battlefield. Roy and Tezcatlipoca scrambled across the sea's surface.

"She's getting serious now. We've clearly pissed her off…" Tezcatlipoca remarked while running.

"Yeah, but that also means we've found her weakness, hit her where it hurts, and forced her to stop ignoring us as a Goddess of Beginning."

"You're awfully optimistic, Master. But you're right, this proves we've struck a nerve. She's not invincible. Even as Beast II, she's not unbeatable. As long as she has a weakness, we have a chance to stall or even defeat her."

As he spoke, Tezcatlipoca turned to block another of Tiamat's attacks for Roy.

"It's just really troublesome… and difficult. Though this Mother of Genesis is consumed by madness and hatred as Beast II, her sensitivity to danger is still razor-sharp."

"She's not going to let us touch her weakness so easily."

"No choice then, we'll have to find a way. At least it's not as hopeless as before, right?"

Roy dodged while responding, "I think I've figured out why the Counter Force sent you."

"Hahaha, have you? I was a bit unsure myself, but now I've got a guess too."

"So, let's test it, Master. Confirm if we're thinking the same thing. If our guess is right, we can keep fighting her and maybe even have a shot at winning."

"Got it. I'll leave stalling her to you."

"No problem."

Tezcatlipoca pressed his attack.

Roy stomped the sea's surface, his magical aura erupting. The sheer scale of it turned the surrounding waters into steaming white mist in an instant.

In the next moment, his body became a blinding streak of light, soaring over a hundred meters high, effortlessly leaping over the oncoming Sea of Life. He maneuvered through space, arriving before Tiamat in an instant.

"Come, Goddess of Beginning… Let me see what's in your heart, your hatred, your resentment, your longing to return. Hold nothing back; show it all to me!!"

"I'll bear it all for you."

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

In that instant, Roy's clear ice-blue eyes locked with Tiamat's crimson, star-patterned gaze.

His eyes paused, the power of the Third Magic rapidly transforming his soul. He reached out to her soul, transmitting information and emotions, attempting to forge a connection.

Like a spark igniting in endless darkness, the light was both dazzling and foreign, driving Beast II's will into a frenzy.

Having her soul invaded was far from pleasant. Tiamat clutched her head, letting out a pained wail.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~!!!!"

Across the boundless Sea of Life, the dirge of the Goddess of Beginning echoed endlessly.
