Chapter 453 - 453: A Bridge Between Realms

The iron-clad knights of the North knew they stood no chance against the might of a modern army. They had wisely chosen to "lie flat," accepting the inevitable shift in power. If following Jason meant unifying Westeros and sharing in the legendary power of the dragon, they were content. They believed that when Jason finally ascended the throne as King, he would treat his loyal subjects with the respect they deserved.

Once the initial negotiations concluded, a massive celebration banquet began. Jason wanted to prove to the people of Westeros that modern life was a tapestry of richness and beauty. To ensure this, the food and drinks were prepared by five-star chefs brought over from the modern side.

The Northern lords and the nobles from the Riverlands were used to a rough, hearty diet, but they were left speechless by the exquisite presentation of the dishes. To them, the food looked more like works of art than a meal. As they sipped sweet, mellow wines and tasted delicacies they couldn't have imagined, their sense of identification with Jason's modern world deepened.

In a historic moment, the delegations from both worlds met to sign the "Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between the Two Worlds." With the ink dry, Jason escorted the modern leadership back to their home timeline.

Strategic Preparations

Back in the modern world, inside the high-tech underground base near the main railway station, a military advisory group was already mobilized. These experts were prepared to deploy to Westeros to help command upcoming operations. The modern government had no intention of sending actual foot soldiers; there was no need to waste modern lives fighting an ancient war. Instead, these hundreds of military advisers would form a strategic staff to plan the unification of Westeros.

Jason scanned the ranks of the officers and quickly stepped forward to greet them. "Colonel Liam, Colonel Logan, it's a pleasure to meet you both."

The two colonels offered a sharp military salute before shaking hands with a smile. "Mr. Jason, we'll be heading out with you soon. We look forward to working together."

Under the terms of the new agreement, Jason represented the entire world of A Song of Ice and Fire as the future King of Westeros. He was the bridge for the modern world to jointly develop a resource-rich, albeit backward, planet. In this context, Jason was treated as a top-tier world leader. The base personnel were exceptionally polite, knowing that Jason held the only key to traveling between the two worlds.

Modern science had essentially hit a wall regarding space-time travel. A group of physics experts and high-energy professors had been working tirelessly, but they hadn't made a single breakthrough. Consequently, the top levels of government put all their faith in Jason. They relied on his unique ability to ensure the flow of materials and people. This was the fundamental reason why the modern side fully supported his claim to the throne.

From their perspective, having Jason as King of Westeros was far better than dealing with the likes of Joffrey, Stannis, Daenerys, or Bran. Jason understood their motives perfectly and was more than happy to cooperate. After all, who wouldn't want to be the King of the World?

"Colonel Liam, Colonel Logan, the command and planning work of future operations will be handed over to your staff," Jason said, feeling a sense of relief. With professionals at his side, he wouldn't have to rely on his own amateur military instincts. In previous battles, he had simply relied on his advanced weaponry and "reckless" force without much strategy.

"Rest assured, Mr. Jason," Colonel Liam replied seriously. "We will do our absolute best to plan your campaigns and help you rule Westeros as quickly as possible."

Building a New Economy

The military advisory staff joined the effort as a specialized unit, and Jason was officially their commander. Colonel Liam and Colonel Logan of the Military Advisory Group had no objection to taking orders from Jason. They were the key to a global transformation, and their superiors had given them "death orders": all actions in Westeros must follow Jason's commands unconditionally.

As long as modern interests weren't harmed, Jason's word was law. The modern government was careful not to do anything that would undermine his majesty in the eyes of the Westerosi people. Jason felt incredibly moved by the trust and broad-mindedness shown by his superiors.

For this trip back, Jason wasn't just bringing the military team. He was also transporting a mineral exploration crew and various scientific instruments to the North. One of the primary ventures was the "Zhongwei Mining Group," a joint venture between the modern state-owned mining company and the crown of Westeros. The modern side held 49% of the shares, while Westeros held 51%.

This partnership extended beyond mining; it covered fisheries, energy, petroleum, coal, transportation, steel, and communications. The modern side provided the initial investment in personnel and machinery, while Jason's administration in Westeros was responsible for maintaining law and order, recruiting workers, and providing policy support.

Jason didn't want to just extract resources; he wanted to develop his new kingdom. The modern side shared this vision, hoping that trade between the two worlds would promote mutual economic growth.

Arrival at Winterfell

In the center of the open camp outside Winterfell, Jason suddenly appeared, surrounded by a massive crowd of personnel and heavy equipment. The soldiers on guard at the perimeter were stunned by the sight.

With the signing of the agreement, the secret of Jason's origin had been shared with the troops. Everyone around Winterfell now knew that Jason came from another world and possessed the ability to shuttle across time and space. The common soldiers and civilians, living in an age of superstition and ancient gods, viewed this miraculous ability as a sign of divine favor. To them, Jason was a "Chosen One" of the gods.

One of the newly arrived modern technicians looked up at the towering grey walls of the fortress. "Is that Winterfell?" he asked, breathless. "It looks spectacular!"
