Hunter left the room, and the air felt fresher to Thorn, but before he could continue with his work, Elora called his name.
"Thorn, what are you planning to do with Bella from the house of Rose, and why are you targeting her?" Elora's abrupt question made his smile stiffen for a split second before it went back to normal.
He looked up to meet Elora's questioning gaze and wondered what reason he should give so he wouldn't seem petty or cold-hearted to her.
Thorn thought it would take her some time to find out about Bella, giving him a chance to come up with a better excuse.
"Thorn…?" Elora called again, a hint of impatience in her voice. The sound of it snapped him out of his daze.
"Your Majesty, if I told you she hurt me deeply and I did it for revenge… would you believe me?" Thorn blinked innocently with clasped fingers.
"No." Elora's blunt response broke his expression, causing him to give up pretending and lean back into his chair.
