Chapter 397 - Chapter 395: Battle of Saint Odon

Chapter 395: Battle of Saint Odon

Both sides were immediately locked in fierce combat, the sounds of slaughter echoing through the skies.

"Radiant Slash!"

Among the human cavalry were many powerful warriors.

They moved like war gods, cutting through the enemy ranks.

Wherever they passed, Warg Riders were cut down in droves.

"It's Lord Ross!"

His invincible form boosted the morale of the human cavalry.

Clad in silver-white armor and wielding a massive sword, he swung with divine might.

Each strike unleashed a holy sword beam, cutting through hundreds of meters with devastating force.

His speed was blinding, a white streak flashing through the battlefield.

His entire body was enveloped in sacred battle aura.

"Human! I shall be your opponent!"

A thunderous roar erupted from the battlefield.

A massive Beastman leaped high into the air, soaring hundreds of meters before plummeting towards Ross.

The sheer force of the descent made Ross's expression shift.

"Divine Domain Block!"

With a powerful shout, holy light burst from his body.

A colossal angelic projection materialized around him, completely shielding him.

The angelic figure stood nearly five meters tall, radiating soft white brilliance.

It held a sword and shield in a defensive stance.

The descending Beastman crashed down, its powerful kick landing squarely on the angelic shield.

"Boom!"

A deafening explosion rocked the battlefield.

A visible shockwave rippled outward.

The angelic projection shattered from the impact.

Yet, the Beastman was also blasted away by the force.

"Hahaha! Again!"

Landing on the ground, the Beastman instantly charged forward once more.

Then, it disappeared.

Ross's face darkened. He instinctively swung his sword in a wide arc behind him.

"Quick reflexes!"

With a metallic clang, Ross's greatsword clashed with the Beastman's blade.

"Let's go again!"

The two combatants momentarily separated before launching at each other again.

They clashed repeatedly, their swords moving so fast they left only afterimages and shockwaves.

"This tiny city of Saint Odon must fall today!"

In the Demon Army's central command tower, a roar of fury echoed.

The Demon commander stood, gazing at the city's glowing magical barrier.

"Use Hellfire to shatter their turtle shell!"

Dakras grinned viciously, golden eyes glinting with bloodlust.

As a Demon General, he could not afford to disappoint the Emperor again.

This time, he would ensure Saint Odon's destruction.

Behind him, a flag officer waved a crimson banner.

The front-line Demon Mage divisions responded instantly.

Hundreds of mage battalions advanced under heavy guard.

Stopping less than a kilometer from the city walls, they raised their staves high.

Dark red magical energy swirled into the sky, gathering into enormous blood-red fireballs.

As time passed, the Hellfire spheres grew larger and larger.

"It's Hellfire! Battle Mages, target the Demon mages!"

The massive fireballs were impossible to miss.

Perched on the walls, Kelvin's expression was calm but firm as he gave his command.

As long as the barrier held, the Demon Army could not breach the city.

At Kelvin's signal, the defensive magic circles on the barrier flared to life.

Ice and water-based spells rained down upon the Demon forces.

Huge ice spears and torrents of water arrows streaked towards the enemy mages.

"Foolish humans! Hahaha!"

The Demon mages sneered at the attack.

Fiery light flickered within their ranks.

A towering wall of flames erupted before them, blocking the human spells.

"Burn it all! Hellfire!"

As the magical duel raged, hundreds of Hellfire orbs surged towards the barrier.

The short distance was covered in an instant.

Human mages desperately tried to intercept the attack.

But before their spells could reach, the sheer heat and magical pressure of the Hellfire incinerated them.

"Boom!"

One after another, blood-red fireballs crashed into the city's magical barrier.

Blinding light exploded across the battlefield as massive flaming mushroom clouds billowed into the sky.

The barrier rippled violently from the impact.

Cracks, like spiderwebs, began spreading across its surface.

The entire city trembled under the assault.

"Has there been any word from the Holy Empire?"

Kelvin stood on the battlements, gazing at the burning sky.

The Demon invasion was too powerful for a single kingdom to withstand.

From the very start, he had dispatched messengers to neighboring countries.

But the Demon Army was advancing too fast.

In less than half a month, they had reached the capital's outskirts.

If Saint Odon fell, the Kingdom of Catemia would be doomed.

A nearby officer stepped forward and saluted.

"Other kingdoms doubted the reports of a Demon invasion. Only after confirming the news themselves did they begin mobilizing. The Holy Empire has acknowledged our plea, and the Paladin Order is en route."

"Your Majesty, if we can hold for three more days, the Holy Empire's reinforcements will arrive."

Three days?

Kelvin sighed internally.

Three days was too long.

At this rate, the city would fall within a day.

And when that happened, a million civilians would perish alongside the Kingdom of Catemia.

"Look! In the sky! What is that?!"

A chorus of shocked cries rang out from the city walls.

Countless soldiers gazed upwards in disbelief.

The sky itself seemed to split apart, revealing a massive rift.

Beyond the fissure lay an endless void of darkness.

Yet, within the darkness, faint stars shimmered.

The rift only lasted for a few seconds before sealing shut.

And then, high in the sky, a lone figure appeared.

He stood in midair, staring down at his hands.

"My body is breaking apart?"

Li Meng could feel the Mad God's power tearing through his flesh.

Though his body constantly regenerated, the destructive energy was outpacing his healing ability.

His skin was now etched with glowing crimson cracks, like a fractured porcelain doll.

At this rate, he would be reduced to ashes within minutes.

He had assumed Mad God was just another skill.

Something he could activate and deactivate at will.

But he had been wrong. Completely wrong.

Mad God was not a mere ability—it was a transformation.

Once triggered, it forcefully reshaped him with an overwhelming power.

And that transformation was irreversible.

"I never expected that even with a nearly hundred-thousand stat body, I still can't withstand this power."

Li Meng murmured, brows furrowed.
