Chapter 329: The Magic Light Tower and "Cumulus Thunderstorm Spell"

"Careful, it's a Magic Light Tower!"

As they ran, a black beam of light suddenly shot out from the distance.

Before one of the Battle Emperors could react, the black beam struck his armor, which immediately glowed with a yellow magical brilliance.

"Holy Shield: Radiance!"

The light-element mages in the group quickly raised their staffs and chanted, summoning a massive light shield that blocked the black beam in front of the team.

The Battle Emperor who had been hit looked down at the chest of his armor, relief evident on his face. Thankfully, he was wearing labyrinth equipment with high resistance to magic attacks; otherwise, he might not have survived.

"The Magic Light Tower is a trap mechanism on the 41st floor. It's alive and will periodically emerge from the desert to ambush adventurers," Helena explained with a grave expression as she gazed into the distance.

Following her gaze, Li Meng saw the towering figure of a nearly 300-meter-high structure in the desert ahead. The black beam had emanated from a spherical crystal atop the tower.

The black magical light glowed once more, and another beam shot toward the light shield.

The clash of dark magic and light magic created a dazzling interplay of magical energies.

"Is this thing troublesome?"

Helena nodded solemnly. "The Magic Light Tower's attacks can't be dodged; they can only be endured."

Li Meng studied the black beam striking the light shield. Although it was dark, it was still light, moving at the speed of light—something even divine-level warriors couldn't evade.

"Many adventuring parties entering the 41st floor suffer heavy casualties, with the Magic Light Tower being the main culprit," Helena added with a sigh, her gaze fixed on the distant structure.

Their luck was truly poor to encounter a Magic Light Tower—a near-unsolvable threat on the 41st floor. Adventuring teams rarely escaped unscathed, even if they survived.

"Can't it be destroyed?" Li Meng asked, still observing the massive tower.

The tower was indeed an extraordinary labyrinth creature, radiating a tremendous amount of magical energy.

[Magic Energy:]

The tower was classified as a labyrinth entity with no level but a staggering 210,000 points of magical energy—the highest Li Meng had ever seen.

Helena shook her head. "It can be destroyed, but it's extremely difficult. The moment someone approaches it, it retreats underground."

"So, it's practically unsolvable? You'd have to exhaust its magic to force it to leave?"

"That won't work," Helena replied. "Labyrinth creatures draw endless energy from the maze itself. Mechanisms like the Magic Light Tower can't be driven away by depleting their magic."

---

"Everyone, prepare the war magic spell: Cumulus Thunderstorm!"

Helena urged her mount forward, her words causing the faces of the archmages and grand sages to stiffen.

War magic, also known as legion magic, was a large-scale spell requiring a coordinated effort from multiple casters.

Helena raised her staff, and water-blue magical energy burst from the crystal at its tip.

The other mages and sages followed suit, their multicolored magic converging into torrents of energy that enveloped Helena.

The sky above began to change, and dark clouds rapidly formed, rolling outward and expanding at an incredible rate.

Before long, a deafening roar of thunder echoed as lightning illuminated the sky.

Within moments, the desert for a kilometer around was blanketed in ominous clouds.

---

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning streaked from the heavens, striking the Magic Light Tower. The tower, shrouded in electricity, seemed paralyzed.

As one bolt faded, another followed, slamming into the tower with unerring accuracy.

Thunder roared, and lightning struck repeatedly, each bolt dealing devastating damage.

The scene was both breathtaking and destructive. The Magic Light Tower, engulfed in continuous lightning strikes, remained immobilized, unable to counterattack or retreat.

After enduring over ten strikes, cracks resembling spiderwebs appeared across the tower's surface.

Finally, with a resounding crash, the 300-meter-high structure crumbled. Its black fragments fell into the sand and disintegrated into ash, vanishing completely.

---

Helena exhaled deeply, ceasing her magic output to the storm above. Without a continued flow of energy, the dark clouds dispersed rapidly.

"Such spells must be incredibly draining," Li Meng thought, noting Helena's exhausted state. The spell's vast range and devastating power were unparalleled, but its magical demands were equally immense.

Such magic could easily annihilate thousands of troops in battle, proving why mages were called the gods of war.

"Let's move on!" Helena commanded, urging the team forward without stopping to rest.

---

As the group galloped through the desert on their dodo birds, Helena returned to Li Meng's side.

"Silver Mask, you must be wondering why I'm so eager to press on."

Her comment made Li Meng recall the destroyed Magic Light Tower. "Is it because destroying a tower attracts others?"

Helena nodded, surprised by his insight. "It's hard to believe this is your first time on the 41st floor."

"It wasn't hard to deduce. That spell consumed a lot of magic. If there were no other threats, resting here would be the best option to allow the mages and sages to recover."

Helena smiled faintly at his reasoning. "Though Magic Light Towers are rare, we can't guarantee there aren't others nearby. Moving forward is the safest choice."

At that moment, Li Meng's expression shifted. Turning slightly, he looked toward the desert on their right.

"It seems Lady Luck isn't with us this time," he said grimly.

Helena followed his gaze, her face paling when she saw what lay ahead.

There, in the distance, stood another Magic Light Tower.

"It's another Magic Light Tower! Be careful!" Helena shouted, issuing a dire warning.
