Chapter 292 - Chapter 290: A Delicious "Breakfast"

Chapter 290: A Delicious "Breakfast"

As the long night finally gave way to dawn, the chaos of last night seemed like a forgotten dream.

"Boss, boss!"

Early in the morning, Li Meng's door was knocked on.

Not long after, with a "click," the door opened.

"Boss, let's go explore the maze!"

Outside the door, Ame and the two others looked at their boss with eager anticipation.

"Do you all have adventurer identification?"

The three nodded quickly and pulled out their individual identity cards from their pockets.

These were akin to identity documents, containing various information about adventurers.

"Stay at the tavern and rest honestly for the day. We'll set out tomorrow!"

Doing anything today would be pointless. Susan would die today, triggering death rewind.

"Oh!"

Ame lowered her head in disappointment.

"Boss, can we go out to play?"

Amay looked at him with hopeful eyes.

Amay's suggestion lit up Ame and Amey's eyes. As demi-humans, the three had boundless energy. Asking them to stay in the tavern all day felt worse than death.

"No, no one is leaving the tavern today. Anyone who dares to sneak out will have their behinds dealt with!"

Hearing this, the three quickly covered their bottoms.

Although the day would eventually end in death rewind, there was still some time before that happened.

If the three left the tavern, they might attract the Brotherhood Thieves' attention.

Li Meng didn't want to see the three little ones captured and tormented.

Even though death rewind would erase their memories, he would remember everything.

Knowing himself well, Li Meng realized he was a madman prone to extreme reactions.

If such a thing happened, he might destroy the entire maze city in retaliation.

"Boss, a whole day is too long. It's boring to do nothing."

Ame's protest was quickly echoed by Amay and Amey.

"I'll be heading out soon. You can come along with me."

Before death rewind, he had to visit the slums.

"Yay! Boss, don't sneak off without us!"

Though they didn't know where the boss was headed or what he planned to do, they didn't care.

As long as they could leave the tavern and explore outside, the reason didn't matter.

"Let's go eat breakfast!"

Li Meng stepped out of the room and headed for the stairs.

The three girls followed him excitedly.

"Boss, where are we going today?"

Trailing behind him, Ame asked curiously.

"To the slums in the northern city."

"Boss, why are we going there?" Amay asked, puzzled.

Why would the boss go to a place like the slums?

"Just to have a look around."

Just to have a look around?

The three girls rolled their eyes.

The boss wouldn't do something so pointless. He must have a legitimate reason for visiting the slums.

Soon, Li Meng and the girls reached the tavern's dining area.

They sat at a table in a secluded corner.

As soon as they were seated, Sophia appeared, pushing a wooden serving cart filled with food—bread, barley porridge, and roasted meat.

"What would you like to eat?" Sophia asked with a smile.

The three girls raised their hands eagerly.

"Meat! I want meat!"

"Me too!"

"Meat, meat, meat!"

Their choice didn't surprise Sophia. Smiling, she placed three plates before them, adding slices of golden roasted meat. Finally, she served each a bowl of barley porridge to balance the richness of the meat.

"What about you, sir?" Sophia turned to Li Meng, who wore his signature black robe.

Li Meng casually extended a hand, brushing it against her curvaceous hips.

Sophia blushed and shot him a glare.

With his appetite, Li Meng could devour everything on the cart and still feel unsatisfied. Moreover, cooked food wasn't to his taste.

Compared to food, he craved Sophia herself.

Standing up, Li Meng said, "Let's go to the kitchen. I'll find something I want there."

Sophia's cheeks flushed even more, but she didn't refuse, pushing the cart toward the kitchen.

"Eat up. I'll be back soon!" Li Meng called to the three girls before following Sophia.

Watching their boss leave, Ame pouted.

"The boss smells like that again—sneaky and sly!"

"What smell, Ame?" Amey asked curiously.

Amay also turned her attention to Ame.

Tearing off a large chunk of meat, Ame chewed as she muttered, "The kind of smell Dad had when he wanted to bully Mom."

Hearing this, Amay and Amey's eyes lit up.

"Oh, so that's what it is. I knew it smelled familiar."

"Boss really isn't picky, huh? As long as it's curvy and big, he's happy," Amay commented, glancing at the boss's departing figure.

"In ape-man tribes, wouldn't that male be killed for this?"

Ame remembered the male ape-man couple at the tavern.

Shaking her head, she replied, "I don't think so. Boss isn't one to take responsibility."

"Besides, he isn't an ape-man. Why would he follow their customs?"

Amay shrugged indifferently. Strength naturally attracted the weak, and such matters didn't need overthinking.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Sophia's body pressed against the door as Li Meng stood behind her.

The room echoed with creaking sounds.

Sophia whispered breathily, "Hans is out gathering fruit for brewing liquor."

"For making 'Upper Wine'?" Li Meng asked distractedly.
