Just like that, over three hours slipped by.
It was late at night now.
Inside the training room, Seimei pulled chakra from the weird space in his forehead again. After compressing it a second time with "All-Encompassing Seal," he channeled it into his Byakugan. Suddenly, a full, bloated feeling hit him.
Right away, he knew—today's nurturing had hit its limit. Sure enough, after pushing it for another ten minutes or so, his Byakugan couldn't soak up even a drop more chakra.
"Suck~ … Hooo~"
He took a deep breath, then let it out slow.
After a moment, Seimei finally opened his eyes. Since he hadn't split off a shadow clone to train with him today—and thanks to that nap on the island last night—he was still buzzing with energy, even this late.
Still, rest was non-negotiable. Tomorrow, he'd be back to grinding hard!
With that in mind, he got up, splashed some water on his face in the bathroom, then shuffled back to his bedroom. Staring out at the moon through the window, he drifted off into dreamland.
Quiet night, no drama!

The next day.
Early morning.
The sky was just starting to lighten up.
Seimei was already awake. He breezed through his morning routine, geared up, and cast "Shadow Clone Jutsu," leaving a clone to hold down the fort at home. Then he stepped outside.
He was planning his usual—grab a big breakfast and head out of the village—when he spotted a few Anbu ninja darting through the shadows.
They were moving fast, like something big was up.
But…
"What's that got to do with me?" he mumbled to himself, shaking his head as he kept walking.
Before he got far, though, a familiar face popped up.
"Hey, Seimei! Heading out again?"
From a distance, Uchiha Shisui waved and called out.
Yep, it was none other than Shisui himself.
"Yeah," Seimei replied, not bothering to hide his plans. He nodded, then glanced at Shisui and the few Police Force members trailing him. "What's with you guys this early? What's the mission?" he asked, a little curious.
Shisui glanced around, making sure no one else was nearby, then leaned in and lowered his voice. "Seimei, watch yourself out there. A few more people went missing in the village last night."
"Again?"
Seimei's mind ticked.
Then it hit him—a memory from the shadow clone he'd left in the village earlier flashed up. He'd been so focused on missions and intel back then that he'd shoved the clone's other memories aside. But Shisui's words yanked them front and center.
Sure enough, the clone's memories confirmed it: lately, the Leaf had seen a string of disappearances. At first, it was just regular villagers. Then some ninja started vanishing too. But since it'd only been genin and chunin before, the village hadn't freaked out—until now.
With Anbu and the Police Force mobilized, this time it had to be someone strong, someone important, or both. Yep, those Anbu he'd just seen rushing off were definitely headed to the same spot as Shisui's crew.
Over on Shisui's side, he caught Seimei's thoughtful look and perked up. "Seimei, you know something?"
Seimei snapped out of it, shaking his head. "Nah, just got lost in some random thoughts."
Shisui gave him a skeptical squint. Something told him Seimei wasn't spilling everything. But since Seimei wasn't talking, he didn't push. They chatted a bit more, then Shisui and his team took off in a hurry.
Watching them go, Seimei muttered under his breath, "Orochimaru, huh?"
Yep, the second he heard about missing people, Orochimaru's creepy face popped into his head. In that other timeline, the guy spent a chunk of time experimenting on Leaf villagers. Now, without Danzo as his shady partner hooking him up with test subjects, he'd probably gone even more unhinged.
So, chances were sky-high it was him.
Seimei figured Minato and the higher-ups had their suspicions too. But Orochimaru's status as a legendary Sannin—and the Third's student—meant they couldn't touch him without rock-solid proof. Right now, the Anbu and Shisui's team were just scrambling for evidence.
Thing is, Seimei wasn't betting on them finding much. Orochimaru was too slick—he'd read the Leaf brass like a book. Until his experiments were done, he wouldn't leave a trail. All this running around? Probably a waste of time.
Still, the village bigwigs could only stomach so much. Sannin or not, war hero or not, teacher's pet or not—if Orochimaru pissed off enough people, he'd get taken out. Whether they could pull it off was another story. When it came to staying alive, Orochimaru was second to none.
So, Seimei's guess? He'd end up defecting in the end. That's the perk of "knowing what's coming"—even a tiny scrap of info let him piece together the big picture and prep accordingly.
He stood there mulling it over for a bit, then shrugged it off and headed to the food street. After stuffing his face as usual, he blended into the crowd and left the village.
Once he hit a quiet backroad, he fired up his Byakugan, scanning everything within a hundred meters. No weirdness—check! He locked onto the Flying Thunder God mark on that island, focused, and bam—cast the jutsu.
In a blink, he vanished from the village outskirts and popped up on that southern Fire Country island.
Same as yesterday—calm and peaceful.
Seimei threw some hand signs, whipping out "Wind Release: Wings of Wind" and his "Chakra Cloak," then took to the sky. He started circling the island. Round and round he went, using his Byakugan to sweep a dozen kilometers in no time flat.
Nada. No anomalies anywhere!
It felt a little overkill, but Seimei wasn't about to slack off. Like the saying goes, "Better safe than sorry." If he got careless, sure, maybe he'd luck out once or twice with nothing happening. But the one time something did go down? He'd be caught flat-footed.
No thanks—he'd rather burn a little extra chakra than cut corners here. Besides, it didn't even take that long!
