Chapter 785 - Chapter 783: Done Deal

"Heh, talk about tight security!"

It didn't take long for Seimei to reach the area near Genshi's residence.

Perched on a big tree in the distance, he fired up his Byakugan, scoping out the setup around Genshi's mansion like a hawk.

You could tell the guy took his safety seriously. The place was crawling with at least twenty ninja guards, inside and out.

Too bad for them, none of that meant squat to Seimei.

Once the strain in his eyes faded, he didn't waste a second. He flipped on his Mangekyo Sharingan and triggered his left eye's ability—Amaterasu—no hesitation!

Poof—he vanished from the spot without a sound.

Next thing you know, he was strolling toward Genshi's mansion like he was in a whole different dimension. He waltzed right in, bold as brass.

Along the way, stray glances flicked his way, and guards brushed past him, but not one of them clocked him. Nada. Zip.

Smooth as butter, he made it to the door of a study in Genshi's mansion.

Maybe it was the commotion tonight or something else, but even though it was the dead of night, Genshi wasn't sleeping. Nope—he was holed up in that study.

And he wasn't alone. He was chatting with someone.

Seimei parked himself outside the door, using his Byakugan to peek at the setup inside.

Besides the guy Genshi was talking to, two others were lurking in the shadows.

Eyeing their positions, Seimei's brow furrowed slightly. "Bit of a hassle, huh," he muttered under his breath.

While he was mulling over how to take them down quietly, inside the room, Genshi suddenly stopped talking.

Out of nowhere, those cloudy old eyes of his sharpened up, darting around the room like lasers.

The ninja in front of him caught the vibe, whipped out a short blade, and stepped up to guard him, scanning the room just as warily.

And it wasn't just him—the two hidden Mist ninjas popped out too, joining the first guy in a "pin" formation to shield Genshi in the middle.

Outside, Seimei caught the whole thing through his Byakugan and let out a quiet sigh.

The Byakugan's see-through trick was slick, but get too close, and anyone with sharp senses might pick up on it.

No way around it—even that X-ray vision relied on chakra as a medium.

So, no matter how well he hid, someone tuned into tiny chakra shifts in the air could still sniff out something fishy.

That's why, even with their solid close-combat skills, Hyuga clan ninjas usually leaned toward battlefield recon instead of stealth assassination gigs.

Seimei figured this little flaw wouldn't get patched up until his Byakugan leveled up.

For now, though…

He eased back a bit, ducking around a corner in the hallway.

Then he dropped Amaterasu and whipped out Shadow Clone Technique.

By the time the folks inside sensed his presence and rushed out, he'd already reactivated Amaterasu, leaving a lone shadow clone outside to play decoy.

The clone didn't mess around either—up went its hands, and bam—Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!

That jutsu's pretty common in the ninja world, so Seimei wasn't worried about it screaming "Uchiha" and blowing his cover.

Boom!

A huge explosion rocked the hallway.

Roaring flames shot down the corridor in both directions.

The shadow clone didn't stick around—after unleashing the jutsu, it booked it for the exit.

In the hallway, at the doorway, the fastest Mist ninja pulled off Water Release: Water Prison Technique. He whipped up a water cage around himself, dodging the Great Fireball's heat.

Once the flames died down a bit, he dropped the jutsu, yanked a whistle from his pouch, and blew it hard.

A piercing shriek cut through Genshi's mansion.

That was the SOS signal!

The second that sound hit, the other ninjas—still reeling from the sudden blast—snapped to it and started converging on the spot.

In no time, Water Release jutsu doused the flames in the hallway.

Genshi himself got hustled out of the study by a handful of ninjas, heading for a safe spot.

Meanwhile, the shadow clone was getting swarmed and chased by a pack of Mist ninjas.

Good thing the ninja count here was limited—they couldn't land a killing blow on the clone just yet.

Not that it'd hold them off forever.

This wasn't just Genshi's pad—it was home turf for a bunch of Mist higher-ups too. Nearby patrols hearing this ruckus would rush over ASAP.

When that happened, the shadow clone wouldn't stand a chance.

But honestly? That was plenty.

Inside Genshi's mansion, the Mist ninjas whisked him into a secret room real quick.

Three stayed inside, two posted up outside, guarding him tight.

What they didn't know? Seimei had slipped into that room before them.

The second they opened the door, he went full throttle with his Mangekyo Sharingan, yanking their minds into a genjutsu.

In other words, everything those five—plus Genshi—thought they were seeing and setting up? All in their heads.

Seimei eyed the six of them, frozen in place like statues, and didn't waste a beat. He stepped up to Genshi and hit him with the Flying Thunder God mark plus a Transcription Seal combo.

Unlike the marks he'd slapped on others, Seimei tweaked Genshi's so its activation pinged differently.

That way, he could pick it out from the crowd of marks no problem.

Even without teleporting over, he could tell who triggered what and get a read on the situation.

That's the perk of maxing out Flying Thunder God Technique to lv10 (0/0)—mastery so smooth it's basically art. Without that, he couldn't pull off tricks this slick.

Once he was done, Seimei didn't hang around. He fired up his Mangekyo Sharingan again, used genjutsu to wipe the last ten-ish seconds from their memories, then triggered Amaterasu to vanish.

Two or three seconds after he was gone, Genshi and the crew snapped out of it.

Thanks to the genjutsu nudge Seimei left behind, they didn't notice anything weird. They just carried on with the setup from the illusion like nothing happened.

Seimei lingered in the shadows, watching quietly for a bit. Once he was sure there were no hiccups, he slipped away without a trace.

Not long after he left, Genshi's eyes popped open. He glanced around, not sure if it was his imagination, but lately, he kept feeling like someone was watching him from the dark.

Too bad he'd tried a bunch of tricks to check, and nothing turned up.

It had him second-guessing himself a little.

He peeked at the three guarding him again. Seeing no red flags, he finally let it go, closed his eyes, and waited for news from outside.

Seimei, though? He'd already clocked the guy's reaction.

Even the sneaky little probes Genshi tried? Seimei saw it all.

That's why he didn't bother tweaking the other five.

Genshi might not jump at him directly, but checking his crew? That's fair game.

So, to keep his pawn status locked down tight, Seimei left the other five alone on purpose.

And yeah—turned out he played it just right.
