Chapter 143 - Asgard

Thor watched the light and shadow twisting together in Alex's hands, impressed. He hadn't seen magic like that, not even among Asgard's mystics. After a moment, he crossed his arms and asked directly:

"Now that you've learned this, what are you going to do? Where do you go from here?"

Alex let the energy fade and leaned on the railing, looking out over the shining city. The rooftops glimmered in the sun, and far away he could see the rainbow bridge of the Bifrost. He thought for a moment before answering.

"I think I want to see everything," Alex said. "I've spent months training in halls and chambers, always pushing myself. But now I want to walk through Asgard—the streets, the markets, the halls. I want to meet the people and understand the realm. If I'm going to use this magic, I should know where it comes from."

Thor smirked, clearly approving. "A tour of Asgard, then? Good choice. My people aren't just warriors. You'll see beauty in our gardens, wisdom in our libraries, joy in our feasts. But…"—his voice grew serious—"there are hardships too. Not everything here is perfect."

Alex gave a small laugh. "That's fine. I already carry both light and darkness. I'll manage."

Thor laughed and slapped Alex's shoulder. "You're starting to sound like one of us. Come, I'll make sure the gates are open. If you want to know Asgard, then Asgard should know you."

Thor chuckled and gestured toward the gates. "Follow me, Alex. I'll show you around myself. You'll see the city, the halls, the gardens, and meet the people. There's more to Asgard than training rooms and magic—it's alive, and you'll understand it better by walking it."

Alex nodded, eager and curious. They walked together through the golden streets. Thor pointed out the great halls, the libraries stacked with endless scrolls, the gardens with flowers and trees from all over the realms, and the marketplaces where merchants sold goods from faraway worlds. Everywhere they went, Thor introduced Alex to people—craftsmen, warriors, scholars, and children playing along the streets. Alex listened, asked questions, and watched, taking everything in.

As the day drew to a close, they returned to a quiet balcony overlooking the city. The sun had dipped low, casting long shadows across the spires, and the first stars began to appear. Thor turned to Alex, his expression serious but warm.

"Let's fight," Thor said suddenly.

"Huh?" Alex looked confused.

Thor grinned slightly. "Your tour ends here. I want to fight you."

Alex nodded. "Okay… but don't cry when you lose."

"I know I will lose. That's why I'm fighting," Thor said. "I want to be a great king. To be great, I need to become strong so I can protect my people well."

Alex nodded. "Good. Then let me test what I have learned as well."

As the fight began, it quickly became clear that Alex was stronger than Thor had expected. He moved with a confidence and control that surprised even the god of thunder. The light and darkness in his hands pulsed together, a living force he could shape freely. Each strike, each counter, each motion was precise, controlled, and full of intent.

Alex was more than just strong—he was in tune with the magic itself. His connection to the weave of Asgardian power allowed him to push beyond ordinary limits. Light and shadow bent around him, not clashing but moving as one, giving him both offense and defense. Thor attacked with Mjolnir, testing him, but Alex responded effortlessly, redirecting the force of each strike with a combination of power and finesse.

Despite his youth and inexperience in battle, Alex's magic carried the weight of authority. He didn't just wield power—he commanded it. Every swing, every surge of energy radiated control. He could make darkness shield him while light struck his opponent, or twist both to create barriers and projectiles that moved as extensions of his will.

Thor slammed Mjolnir down, creating a shockwave that ripped across the balcony. Alex stepped forward, twisting the shadows beneath him into a twisting wall that absorbed the force while sending a sharp arc of light toward Thor's side. Thor pivoted midair, swinging Mjolnir in a wide arc, and Alex split the energies in his hands, using darkness to block the strike while light surged upward, hitting Thor's shielded side with a concentrated beam.

Thor responded immediately, sending a spinning blast of lightning toward Alex. Alex leapt, the ground beneath him darkening into tendrils that propelled him back, while streams of light shot out from his hands, deflecting some of the electricity and redirecting it in a controlled burst past him. The air around them shimmered with energy as Mjolnir collided with arcs of shadow, sending sparks flying in every direction.

Alex then pressed the attack. Darkness lashed out, coiling around Thor's hammer, slowing its swings, while light formed sharp, spear-like projectiles that shot at Thor from multiple angles. Thor blocked and parried, but Alex anticipated the pattern, twisting the shadows and light midair so that one of the spears struck the ground near Thor, creating a shock that pushed him backward.

Thor's eyes narrowed. He swung Mjolnir downward, summoning a heavy storm of thunder that rained around Alex. Alex raised both hands, merging light and darkness into a protective dome that absorbed the impacts, then expelled the energy in a sweeping blast that forced Thor to leap back, barely keeping balance.

Not giving Thor a chance to recover, Alex condensed the darkness into spikes that shot upward from the balcony floor while a beam of light surged forward, a coordinated attack that moved in tandem. Thor blocked the light with Mjolnir and deflected the spikes with arcs of lightning, but each attack forced him to adjust constantly, the precision and timing of Alex's control making the god of thunder push harder than he expected.

Alex flowed from defense to offense seamlessly. Shadows formed a cage around Thor's movements while light cut openings to pressure him from different angles. Thor swung and summoned lightning, but Alex twisted his energies in midair, redirecting attacks into harmless arcs. Each exchange tested Thor's strength and reflexes, and though he fought with full force, Alex consistently stayed one step ahead, bending the weave to anticipate and counter his attacks.
