Jin Chengyu paced slowly, hands shoved deep in his pockets, while Li Feng leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his sharp eyes flicking toward the room every few seconds. The others, sat in plastic chairs, sipping vending-machine tea, their faces etched with the lingering strain of the past week.
"It's been quiet in there for a while," Li Feng observed, his voice low. "Too quiet. Should we check? What if something has happened?"
Jin Chengyu paused mid-step, glancing at the door. The crack they'd left open revealed only shadows and the soft glow of monitors. "Yuxi said she wanted space. But yeah... let's peek. Just to make sure."
