"So that's how it is..."

Dark currents surged within Ling Bai's golden eyes as he listened to Bibi Dong recount the story of what came after the Battle of the Gods. Learning the true origin of his abilities sent boundless waves crashing through his heart.

Bibi Dong's red lips curved slightly while her ornate purple high heels swayed gently. "You are truly fortunate. Without the Angel Sword choosing to merge with you, you would have died on that winter night when your parents abandoned you.

After receiving Xue Er's Angel Sword and my Rakshasa Demon Scythe, what flows through your veins is no longer inferior blood but the divine blood of Angel and Rakshasa. Twin God-level Martial Spirits. You're an anomaly unique to the entire Douluo Continent.

Little one, you've inherited both Angel and Rakshasa divine bloodlines. In a sense, you're a child jointly nurtured by us mother and daughter. Having received such blessings, shouldn't you help us with something in return?

Find the descendant of the Holy Angel lineage and bring her to Jialing Pass."

Ling Bai pondered for a moment before slowly lifting his gaze to look directly at Bibi Dong's peerlessly beautiful face. "Your Holiness, your request isn't difficult to fulfill. I'm just personally curious. Why are you so determined to find the Holy Angel? What do you intend to do with her?"

"What do I intend..."

Bibi Dong gazed up at the pristine white dome of the Supreme Pontiff Palace, her expression filled with wistful longing. "In these ten thousand years, I have thought of Xue Er countless times and regretted countless times not treating her better back then. Only beneath the Asura Sword, at the moment between life and death, did I finally hear her call me 'Mother.'

Xue Er is gone. What I owe her can never be repaid. All I can do is offer some small compensation to the descendant of the child she chose."

People always learn to cherish something only after losing it. Ling Bai understood this in his heart.

"I understand. I'll find the Holy Angel."

"It's best if she comes when she is at Rank 70 or Rank 90. That way, my compensation will have the greatest effect."

"Alright."

Ling Bai nodded, then felt pressure from the hand that had been holding the Snow Empress's. The Snow Empress was not one to care about such trivial details as holding hands; she was sending a signal.

Don't forget the important matter.

Ling Bai received the signal. He curled his finger and lightly tapped the cool back of her hand, signaling her to be patient. Then he turned to Bibi Dong and asked:

"Your Holiness, your resurrection relies on the Rakshasa God Position absorbing the world's evil thoughts. Would losing the Rakshasa God Position affect you?"

"No, I've already stabilized my soul."

Bibi Dong waved dismissively. "The Rakshasa God Position has limited use for me now. Bound by Asura's divine power, I have no possibility of becoming a God again."

"In that case, what would you think about me inheriting your Rakshasa God Position and reforging the shattered Angel God Position?"

Silence descended upon the Supreme Pontiff Palace. The Death Abyss Bone Dragon tactfully lowered its breathing, afraid to disturb the atmosphere. The Snow Empress's grip tightened unconsciously, veins standing out on her fair hand.

With the former Rakshasa God so close, the Snow Empress could finally see real hope for Ling Bai's ascension to Godhood. She had once failed to condense her second spirit core and had been pushed to the deepest despair. Ultimately, she had agreed to cooperate with a human to achieve a God Position. Now that things were finally changing, she desperately wanted to seize that glimmer of light.

Bibi Dong swept her gaze over the three figures at the center of the grand hall. She didn't spare the Death Abyss Bone Dragon a single glance. Her gaze passed over the Snow Empress, whose delicate body trembled with barely contained excitement, and then lingered on Ling Bai for a long time. Those golden eyes tinged with molten red seemed to burn.

"I quite like that look in your eyes. Because in them, I see a raging ambition that could set the world ablaze. It makes me feel that if I refused, you would dare to bare your fangs, ready to bite and seize what you want."

"Your Holiness thinks too much. You are the elder, and I am the junior. There is no reason for a junior to snatch an elder's God Position."

"Is that so?"

Bibi Dong smiled noncommittally. "Perhaps that is what you think, but the Heavenly Snow Woman beside you might not necessarily agree. Through the Rakshasa God Position, I have seen many interesting stories from the Divine Realm.

For example, the Divine Realm clearly stipulates that spirit beasts can never become Gods. Yet for eternal life and divine power, spirit beasts will do anything. The Soft Bone Rabbit offered herself. The Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape sacrificed themselves.

Compared to that, merely snatching a God Position seems perfectly normal."

The Snow Empress's eyes darkened with complex emotions at these words. If Bibi Dong refused to relinquish the God Position, she would absolutely urge Ling Bai to take action—for her own sake and for the future of the Extreme North's spirit beasts.

"Enough. There's no need for a God Position to divide us."

Bibi Dong said. "My era ended ten thousand years ago. Holding onto this God Position serves no purpose now. I might as well choose you as the inheritor. After all, as I have said, you are also my child."

Her jade-like finger flicked forward. A purple-black star drifted down and settled gently between Ling Bai's brows.

Ling Bai's expression instantly turned odd, the corner of his mouth twitching.

"Rakshasa First Trial: Bring the possessor of the Holy Angel Martial Spirit to Jialing Pass. Time limit: ten years. Reward: 100% Rakshasa affinity, unlock Rakshasa God Position inheritance.

Are divine inheritances really this casual..."

"This Supreme Pontiff is the Rakshasa God! How I conduct the trial is up to me!"

Bibi Dong's domineering aura burst forth, drawing sidelong glances from both Ling Bai and the Snow Empress.

"Thank you, Your Holiness."

"Spare me the formalities. Just handle the task I've given you beautifully," Bibi Dong's tone held hidden meaning.

Ling Bai's free hand subtly formed an 'OK' gesture.

Winners write history while losers are vilified. After ten thousand years of propaganda from the Sea God's supporters, Bibi Dong, the Rakshasa God, had accumulated quite the unsavory reputation. Disaster Bringer, War Fanatic, Evil God... hundreds of unpleasant titles had been pinned to her name.

If the Holy Angel also considered her a sinner of the Douluo Continent, Bibi Dong hoped Ling Bai would polish her image somewhat.

The atmosphere grew harmonious once more. Ling Bai continued his questions. "Do you know where the shattered Angel God Position ended up?"

Bibi Dong pursed her lips before speaking slowly. "Tang San shattered the Angel God Position back then. The fragments originally resided within Xue Er's body. Since she died at Jialing Pass, the God Position naturally remained here under my protection.

A thousand years ago, while I was using the Rakshasa God Position to absorb the world's evil thoughts and reshape my body, a spirit beast suddenly invaded Jialing Pass. Taking advantage of my divided attention, it stole the Angel God Position and fled."

"Which spirit beast would dare steal even a God Position?"

Ling Bai asked in astonishment. "Di Tian? Evil Emperor? Myriad Demon King?"

He could only think of the top two among the Ten Great Beasts or the ocean overlord, the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King.

"None of them. The spirit beast was called the Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King."

"That sounds familiar... Wasn't that the spirit beast lurking in Slaughter City ten thousand years ago? The one that controlled the Rank 99 Titled Douluo Tang Chen and turned him into the Slaughter King? Didn't Tang San kill it?"

"You know quite a bit."

Bibi Dong's fingers tapped rhythmically against the Supreme Pontiff's throne, her voice turning icy. "The Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King served as the previous Rakshasa God's guardian spirit beast. In Slaughter City, its status resembled that of the Demon Soul Great White Shark King on Sea God Island, though it was far more powerful. Otherwise, it couldn't have controlled Tang Chen.

The Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King possesses an Innate Spirit Skill called Blood Rebirth.

Tang San failed to kill it completely. After its rebirth, the Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King hid in the ruins of Slaughter City, absorbing the expanding Blood Sea to grow. Its cultivation speed increased by leaps and bounds."

Ling Bai smiled helplessly. It was another mess left by Tang San. The immortal herb Snow Swan Kiss had triggered the endless expansion of Slaughter City's underground Blood Sea. The blood eventually swallowed the entire city, and the Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King reaped all the benefits.

Bibi Dong continued to recount the past. "In just a few millennia, the Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King broke through multiple tribulations in succession. It grew impatient and overestimated its bloodline. When it realized that it could not pass the 700,000-year heavenly tribulation no matter how hard it tried, it set its sights on a God Position.

The Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King knew I was dead, so it came to Jialing Pass for the Rakshasa God Position. It never expected that I would actually return from death, with the Rakshasa God Position still belonging to me.

Guardian spirit beasts are absolutely suppressed by the Gods they serve. The Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King wouldn't dare attack its master. But it discovered Xue Er's shattered Angel God Position and seized the opportunity to steal it..."

"What a pity..."

Both Ling Bai and the Snow Empress sighed in unison.

Bibi Dong's tone grew frigid. "The Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King is an evil spirit beast that devours the blood of living beings. Its ability would be called Ultimate Blood in this era; its mastery over blood is unparalleled in the world, and it also excels at spiritual attacks.

If you want to reforge the Angel God Position, the Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King is an enemy you must face.

Its spirit ring and spirit bone would greatly benefit the Spider Emperor Martial Spirit I granted you. Since that beast dared to steal Xue Er's God Position, you might as well kill it."

Ling Bai nodded repeatedly before asking the crucial question. "Where is the Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King's territory?"

Bibi Dong raised an eyebrow. "I cannot leave Jialing Pass. You will have to search for it yourself. My guess would be the old Slaughter City ruins. That location suits it best."

"Understood."

"Go then. Leave Jialing Pass. I hope the next time we meet, you will bring the person I wish to see."

Bibi Dong waved her hand. The Supreme Pontiff Palace doors thundered open, revealing six thoroughly embarrassed Spirit Hall Worships. Including the injured Fifteen Ton Douluo and Falling Devil Douluo, all six Worships had been pressing their ears against the door, eavesdropping.

"This old man... This old man wasn't eavesdropping."

Golden Crocodile Douluo coughed and straightened his robes. "Come, let us old fellows see you off."

The six Worships escorted Ling Bai out, asking all sorts of questions along the way: whether the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Clan treated him well and if any factions on the Douluo Continent were targeting him—specifically naming the Tang Sect and Shrek Academy.

After confirming everything was going smoothly for Ling Bai, Golden Crocodile Douluo still could not rest easy. He personally escorted him to Jialing City. As they parted, he raised a fist the size of a vinegar jar and instructed Ling Bai earnestly:

"We old fellows cannot leave this place, but if you ever find yourself in danger, try to lure the threat to Jialing City. We will let them know the lingering might of the Spirit Hall!"

The six Worships' figures gradually receded into the distance. Ling Bai felt a slight sense of emotion; even after ten thousand years, the Spirit Hall Worships were still devoted to the Seraphim. This was the legacy accumulated by the predecessors.

Moments later, he sensed something struggling in his hand. Turning, he met the Snow Empress's blade-sharp gaze.

"How does it feel?"

Her tone was ice-cold, like arctic winds sweeping down from the Extreme North.

"Smooth and cool to the touch, tender and delicate, like the finest jade."

The Snow Empress fumed. This brat actually dared to give a serious evaluation! She promptly pulled her hand away.

"Finding a chance to hold your hand is truly difficult," Ling Bai sounded genuinely regretful. The Heavenly Snow Woman was born with icy skin and snowy flesh; the Snow Empress's skin texture was unmatched among women.

The Snow Empress remained speechless for a long moment before finally murmuring, "Haven't you held enough hands already? Besides, you've been holding mine for quite a while, from the Supreme Pontiff Palace until now."

"Then let's make it a bit longer. We've resolved a major burden on both our hearts today. Regardless of what happens with the Angel God Position, at least we've secured the Rakshasa God Position.

How about a drink to celebrate?"

Ling Bai extended his hand in invitation. The Snow Empress glared at him but still placed her palm gently atop his, granting his wish.

Beneath the night sky, she stood in white robes that outshone snow itself, her hair cascading like a waterfall. The Snow Empress's eyes sparkled, her lips curved in a smile of pure relief as she spoke softly:

"This Empress is in a good mood today. I shall make an exception and indulge you this once.

In another month or two, after you break through to Spirit Saint and I give you my spirit ring, I can learn to play chess and pursue leisurely hobbies like Elder Yi.

You didn't deceive me back in the Extreme North. Now that you've accepted the Rakshasa First Trial, your path to Godhood has stabilized. The future of the people of the Extreme North is entrusted to you, and I no longer need to bear that pressure..."

"You're also a spirit beast of the Extreme North. Shouldn't you be included among those entrusted to me?"

"Greedy."

The Snow Empress chided softly, though the upward curve of her red lips refused to flatten. She gazed at the boundless starry sky, her eyes distant.

They walked slowly, like ordinary people on an evening stroll. Ling Bai first found the battlefield from his clash with Fifteen Ton Douluo and Falling Devil Douluo, using his Angelic Domain to erase all traces of the Snow Empress and the Death Abyss Bone Dragon. Afterward, they entered a proper restaurant, ordered Jialing City specialties, and raised their glasses to celebrate their major victory on the path to Godhood.

Click—

Ling Bai sensed something amiss in his Storage Spirit Guidance Device. He retrieved a white jade bracelet, now broken in two.

"What's wrong?"

The Snow Empress glanced over, her slender fingers wrapped around a wine glass filled with deep red liquid.

"Nothing serious. A twin Spirit Guidance Device broke. Someone in the Star Luo Empire is sending me a signal."

...

Jialing Pass.

After escorting Ling Bai away, the six Worships dispersed. Only Golden Crocodile Douluo remained, knocking alone at the doors of the Supreme Pontiff Palace.

The doors opened. Bibi Dong looked at Golden Crocodile Douluo and asked directly, "Golden Crocodile, what brings you here alone?"

Golden Crocodile Douluo produced a cluster of leaping flame, shimmering with a glazed, golden brilliance and radiating a pure, holy aura. Six-winged silhouettes occasionally flickered within the flames.

"He said he will definitely keep his promise. He hoped this might comfort you somewhat."

Golden Crocodile Douluo carefully cradled the flame, which seemed to sense something. It transformed into a tiny six-winged angel and settled obediently into Bibi Dong's palm.

Bibi Dong sat quietly on the Supreme Pontiff's throne, gazing at the little angel with a momentary daze in her eyes. Ten thousand years ago, the Seraphim had been her midnight nightmare. Ten thousand years later, it had become her undying obsession.

A purple halo rippled outward from Bibi Dong. The once-glorious Supreme Pontiff Palace suddenly turned dim and gray. A broken sky appeared above, the earth below riddled with craters. A purple figure lay pinned to the ground by a blood-red longsword. Countless skeletal remains lay scattered across the battlefield, most shattered beyond recognition.

"Such a clever and thoughtful child..."

The pinned figure spoke slowly. It was none other than Bibi Dong. The figure seated high on the throne had been nothing but an illusion. This was her true state: a miserable loser beneath the Asura Sword.

Golden Crocodile Douluo surveyed the scene. Endless ranks of imperial soldiers stood at attention. Though long dead, their lingering obsessions had been resurrected by Rakshasa's evil power. They raised their heads, their faces twisted with such anger, such unwillingness.

Bibi Dong spoke faintly. "Golden Crocodile, you heard everything while eavesdropping, didn't you? He wants to reforge the Angel God Position. That means the fate of you, the Worships, and these countless soldiers—all of us resurrected by Rakshasa—is already sealed."

Golden Crocodile Douluo spread his arms wide and laughed heartily:

"To become part of the Angel God Position...

That is our greatest honor!"
