The hazy moonlight spilled over the vast wilderness, and the land was silent except for a valley where lights were on, shadows moving and patrol members everywhere, guarding the valley like facing a formidable enemy. There was some noise in the valley, especially in an open area where many wounded soldiers lay inside the tents, and many outside too, painful groans, long sighs, and uninhibited chatter entangled, creating a bustling sound.
The perimeter of this open area was a barren grassland connecting to the mountain ridge, about thirty meters wide, all dark. A patrol team passed by in less than two minutes, two black shadows crawled up from the ground like two giant pythons, moving swiftly without making a sound, hiding in the shadow of a tent in the blink of an eye.
