Zhan Youyou was sick for a week, and despite living in the same house, Chi Yue didn't see her once.
The next time she saw her was at the family banquet. Zhan Youyou appeared before her, looking fragile and weak, and smiled weakly at her, "Chi Yue, long time no see."
Chi Yue responded indifferently with a simple "Hmm."
Mr. Qi saw them standing together and quickly called Zhan Youyou over, worried that if he was a moment late, Chi Yue would be harsh with her.
Yet Chi Yue didn't mind; without Zhan Youyou, she felt more at ease.
Once everyone was seated, Mr. Qi announced the start of the meal, but Qi Hongwen said, "Let's wait a bit; there's someone who hasn't arrived."
Chi Yue instinctively glanced around at the people at the table.
The Qi family's progeny were few; Mr. Qi had a son and a daughter. His daughter's family was abroad, leaving only Qi Hongwen in the country.
