"Huh?!"
Niu Ma widened his ox eyes upon seeing Liu Zheng return unharmed.
"You didn't run into the Peacock?"
"I did."
"And she didn't give you any trouble?"
Niu Ma asked.
"She did."
"Then what trump card did you have up your sleeve?"
Niu Ma asked again.
"None. But I did manage to get two good things on my way back."
Liu Zheng replied.
"Then how the heck did you come back without a scratch?"
Niu Ma expressed confusion and irritation.
"Oh, the president of the Writer Association stepped in to stop her for me."
He said.
"When the heck did you get chummy with the president of the Writer Association?"
Niu Ma was even more puzzled and irritated.
"Wasn't it at that salon ball with the novelist we attended last time? That's when I met their Vice President-to-be, the Fool, and we've been in touch since then."
Liu Zheng explained.
"You're really good at making connections, aren't you? I bet tomorrow you'll tell me you're going to the Supreme Councilman's birthday party."
