The winter night arrived early. Qi Zhao and Qi Ming returned to the Fu Mansion for the New Year's Eve dinner just as dusk fell.
Wen Qiao met Qi Zhao for the first time, a man with a scholarly air. Qi Ming was practically a spitting image of him, though Qi Ming's eyes and brows resembled Fu Qiang's more, with a bit more coolness and less warmth.
The Fu family maintained the tradition of staying up on New Year's Eve. Jiang Lai, who had been staying in a nursing home for the past few years, had a very regular schedule. Just past ten, she would get sleepy, and given her poor health, she was prepared to go to her room to sleep, calling Wen Qiao to join her as well.
Wen Qiao knew Jiang Lai likely had something to say to her. After closing the door, she asked directly, "Mom, what do you want to tell me?"
"You're quite smart," Jiang Lai said, pulling her to sit by the bed. "Fu Qiang mentioned your and Jinghen's marriage to me today. What do you think about it?"
