They came to her with silk and gold,
Their voice, a blend of smoke and cold.
A promise of riches for a wedding song,
She felt greedy, but it wasn't wrong.
They rode through the desert plains,
Across the sand dunes without names.
Into a castle that resembled the sky,
She stood in awe, stars in her eye.
They laughed too wide, a hollowed jest,
And danced till dawn without a rest.
She took a break, and they wanted more,
She looked down and watched the door.
They weren't human but something vile,
Hooved legs beneath their crusted guile.
There were no bride nor a groom,
She walked right in, towards her doom.
Panic rose in her throat; she prayed a verse,
The guests turned to ash, lifting the curse.
The castle crumbled into a ruin so old,
She never sang again, her story left untold.
