I woke up with a start, and frantically gripped my chest, as an overwhelming anxiety consumed me. While struggling to steady my breathing against the unbearable pressure within my chest, I attempted to focus my eyes on my murky surroundings.
After slowly inhaling a shaky breath, I dazedly looked around the dimly lit room. The weighty chain and perpetually cold metal cuff around my ankle, made me shudder unconsciously.
