Chapter 354 - Chapter 354: Vampire (Part 2)

"How many Animagi are there in the whole world?" Glenwhite said indifferently. "If I were to stay on high alert like you all the time, I'd have been exhausted by now."

"Regardless, we still need to be careful!"

As Nile spoke, he stood by the window and looked around. He didn't notice anything unusual.

Still, he turned back and urged the others, "Take your things. We're leaving."

"Huh? Why?" Caryll jumped up in protest. "I was just about to go to sleep! Besides, this place is so far from Hogwarts!"

"It's not far—not for a wizard like Dumbledore."

Nile spoke as he urged them to move faster. Caryll grumbled in reluctance but still started packing.

They didn't even bother checking out at the front desk; they simply rushed out of the inn.

Wade wanted to act several times but ultimately held back.

From what he could tell, these people were likely vampires, and they possessed structured magical knowledge.

Wade wasn't sure about their level of magic. Even if he launched a sneak attack, it would be too risky.

Technically, vampires were recognized as a "minority" with human rights, but that didn't mean wizards were any less wary of them.

From Wade's first to third year, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professors had changed three times, yet every single one of their textbooks included sections on vampires.

Werewolves are only dangerous during the full moon; otherwise, they are no different from regular people. In fact, the more moral a werewolf is, the harder their life tends to be.

Vampires, however, are different. They have extreme endurance and regenerative abilities, are incredibly fast and strong, and can transform into bats at will—all without losing their rationality, making them natural-born Animagi.

A person with magical abilities who was turned into a vampire can still learn and use magic. However, they can no longer study white magic, while dark magic and curses become significantly easier for them to master.

Wade remained hidden and watched the group hurriedly leave with their travel bags. After hesitating for a few seconds, he decided to call for reinforcements.

He transformed back into his human form, checked the time, then turned his Time-Turner back by two more rotations.

The Time-Turner's safety limit is five hours. It wasn't just that he could only turn it five times in one go; rather, even within any overlapping period, the maximum time that could be reversed was still just five hours.

Exceeding five hours would still work, but the user would be in extreme danger.

Since Wade had already used the Time-Turner once before, his two reversals had now overlapped, meaning he had essentially reached the five-hour limit.

Time spun rapidly backward, but Wade was used to the sensation. When everything finally settled, the sky was still dark.

It was still nighttime, but unlike the previous silence, some houses in the town still had their lights on, and faint television screens could be seen inside. A few late-night cars drove along the road.

Wade transformed into a peregrine falcon and flew straight toward Hogsmeade.

By the time he arrived, the chaos had already ended. Dumbledore, still dressed in his nightgown, was speaking to Hagrid: "Take him to the Hog's Head and wait for me—"

Suddenly, he noticed the falcon descending from the sky and paused for a brief moment. Seeing the bird quickly hide itself, Dumbledore shifted his gaze away without any visible reaction.

Hagrid, assuming Dumbledore had finished speaking, replied, "Alright."

He then lifted the werewolf and stomped away with heavy steps. The sight of the enormous man carrying a werewolf left the bystanders in shock, and they hurriedly pressed themselves against the walls, clearing the entire street for him.

Meanwhile, hidden among the leaves, Wade had already located his target. Using his sharp eyesight, he finally spotted something unusual—

A woman, who had just moments ago been terrified by the werewolf, dusted off her skirt and stood up. She concealed herself in the shadows and narrowed her eyes as she observed Dumbledore in the crowd.

At her feet lay a young man—clearly the other one of the "couple" from before.

Not far away, Nile, who had fled from the Three Broomsticks with the other patrons, appeared shaken. He sat on the street curb and exchanged a subtle glance with Kurami.

He discreetly slipped a small, toy-like camera into his pocket. Meanwhile, the owner of the nearby quill shop stepped outside, and asked if he was alright with concern. Nile feigned fear as he responded,

"It was terrifying… a werewolf… I thought something like this would never happen near Hogwarts…"

His voice drifted faintly through the air.

Wade now knew exactly where they were headed. He watched the pair for a while and after seeing that no one else was approaching them, he turned to make his way toward the Hog's Head to find Dumbledore.

It was as if the headmaster had been expecting him. As Wade flew over, he saw Dumbledore standing by the window, which was left open. Their eyes met, and Wade immediately knew—Dumbledore had recognized him.

He was both surprised and unsurprised.

Instead of approaching the inn directly, Wade circled the area, and scanned for anything unusual.

Soon, he found a small sparrow perched motionless outside the Hog's Head, staring inside. A faint glimmer of reflected light shone from its chest.

Calculating the timing, Wade realized that Caryll and Glenwhite were currently on the move with the Streaming Mirror.

Hiding in a nearby corner, he transformed back into his human form and lightly waved his wand.

A withered yellow leaf in front of him unfolded, transforming into a photograph. The image was of the Hog's Head's old, grimy exterior—but Dumbledore was nowhere to be seen within the frame.

The photograph floated gently through the air, landing precisely over the Master mirror on the sparrow's chest.

Wade then transformed and slipped through the window into the guest room before changing back.

By this time, Madam Pomfrey and Professor Burbage had already left, and Madam Pomfrey had also taken Hagrid with her. The only ones remaining in the room were Dumbledore and the unconscious werewolf.

Seeing the peregrine falcon transform into a human, Dumbledore showed no surprise. The werewolf on the bed, however, let out a faint groan.

"Professor." Wade walked over and glanced at the werewolf before asking, "How is Remus?"

"For now, he has not suffered any fatal injuries, and this transformation is not permanent—so that's at least some good news," Dumbledore replied.

"When will he recover?" Wade asked.

"I can't say for certain, but Severus may be able to give us an answer," Dumbledore said calmly.

"Professor Snape?"

Wade fell silent for a moment. Thinking about the long-standing grudge between the two, he first sympathized with Remus, who would have to be treated by his arch-nemesis, and then with Professor Snape, who would be forced to save his enemy.

Then, he heard the headmaster ask, "Wade, when did you receive the news?"

There was nothing to hide, so Wade answered, "I ran into Fred and George on their way back to school."

Dumbledore got straight to the point, "How many times have you turned it?"

Wade hesitated before replying, "Five times already."

Dumbledore sighed, as if to say—I knew it.

"For the next twenty-four hours, do not use the Time-Turner again."

"Yes, sir."

"Well then, since you've turned it five times, I assume you've gathered plenty of information?"

"Of course, Professor."
