As for Sun Yigao and the others, they would be a bit busier. In one class, they would need to teach different content according to the techniques each disciple had chosen.
This arrangement was merely a temporary solution.
Once some disciples mastered the first level of a particular technique, they could then take on the task of teaching that technique to others.
The beginning is always the hardest, but everyone was mentally prepared for this. None of them had any objections to the plan.
Mo Yuanjiao was even eager to give it a try. He thought of something and asked:
"Why not allow everyone to attend different classes? If they're stuck with a single class, what if they don't like the technique they chose and can't switch?"
Sun Yigao thought for a moment and shook his head:
"That wouldn't be wise. It would lead to instability, with everyone always thinking they could just listen to a bit here and there and then change whenever they wanted. It wouldn't help them focus on learning."
Yang Jinshu agreed with Sun Yigao:
"We've all studied these techniques during this time. There's no need to worry about 'liking' or 'disliking' a technique. It's not like anyone would develop some deep aversion to a technique. Ultimately, all of them are skills to protect oneself, and they don't take too much time to learn."
Hearing this, Mo Yuanjiao realized they had a point, so he nodded and joined the others in scheduling the courses.
Once the course content was settled, they needed to figure out the issue of venues.
Currently, the only suitable places within Lingxian Sect for classes were the cultivation rooms halfway up the mountain and the cultivation hall at Qingyun Peak.
Lin Xiao was considering whether to work overtime tonight to clear another space and build a few new rooms for teaching techniques, when Sun Yigao suggested:
"Why not use Lingxian Academy at the foot of the mountain for now? The academy finishes its classes every evening, and it has isolation arrays, so there's no need to worry about disturbances."
Lin Xiao agreed. Although he could clear a space and hastily build a few technique classrooms, they would likely be rather simple.
With the current expansion of the sect, many of the original buildings were beginning to look outdated and needed reconstruction, so Lin Xiao didn't want to build anything too hastily.
Otherwise, they would have to redo it all later with a proper plan.
Lingxian Academy had already undergone an expansion once, and it was more than spacious enough to accommodate the nearly two hundred members of Lingxian Sect for now.
With the academy available, Lin Xiao didn't need to rush, and he could take his time planning the technique classrooms properly.
He planned to thoroughly explore the North Mountain Range again later and pick the perfect location to build new facilities.
Since the sect's resources were no longer as limited as they used to be, construction no longer had to be just about getting things done quickly.
As the discussion among the four members of the teaching group was wrapping up, it was noon. Not long after the class at Qingyun Peak's cultivation hall had ended, Liao Pantu appeared in the teaching room.
"Huh, Senior Liao, why are you here so early today? Didn't the disciples swarm you with questions?" Mo Yuanjiao asked curiously when he saw Liao Pantu arriving earlier than expected.
After all, every time they taught at Qingyun Peak, they would be surrounded by disciples for a long time after class, answering endless questions.
Liao Pantu waved his hand and replied:
"I heard that last night Baishu and a few others started a study group. After class, they discuss the problems they encounter, and only come to the instructors for questions they can't solve themselves. It's working quite well, so the number of questions has dropped by more than half today."
Sun Yigao laughed when he heard this:
"The saying goes, 'Among three people, there must be one who can teach me.' This study group was a great idea. On the path of cultivation, having companions who progress together and help each other is extremely beneficial."
Lin Xiao nodded in agreement and added, "It seems that the Qingyun Peak disciples have grown much closer and more at ease after spending time together. They're now taking the initiative to form teams and act independently, without our intervention."
After explaining why he returned early, Liao Pantu's gaze swept over the group, and he remarked:
"Speaking of which, in the cultivation world, once a cultivator's level is high enough, they usually adopt a Daoist name. This often happens when they reach the Golden Core stage, though some even do it after successfully reaching the Foundation Establishment stage. It wasn't as important before, but once you start interacting with the cultivation world more frequently, having a Daoist name would be useful."
"A Daoist name?" Sun Yigao thought for a moment, guessing it might be similar to the courtesy names scholars adopt. He asked as much, and Liao Pantu replied:
"Yes and no. A cultivator's Daoist name isn't given by others but comes from their own understanding of their Dao and heart. That said, many cultivators don't truly gain any profound insights, so they just come up with something after much thought so they can present a Daoist name."
He pointed to himself and continued:
"For example, I'm different from those people. My original name wasn't Liao Pantu. 'Pantu' is my Daoist name. I've used it for over a hundred years, and I've long forgotten my original name."
Hearing this, Lin Xiao suddenly understood.
No wonder when he first met Senior Liao, he called himself 'Venerable Pantu.' It wasn't because he added 'Venerable' to his name to sound imposing—'Pantu' was his actual Daoist name!
At the same time, Lin Xiao mentally asked his system:
"Why doesn't Senior Liao's original name show up in the sect system?"
The system explained:
[Because this person has reached the Nascent Soul stage, their Dao heart is firm, and they have completely abandoned their original name. The system will only display the name recognized by their own heart, which in this case is 'Liao Pantu.']
So that's why.
It seemed there was some story behind Senior Liao's original name.
After all, the system had mentioned that Senior Liao had deliberately discarded his original name, and he had personally claimed to have "forgotten" it, indicating that this abandonment was very thorough.
Since he hadn't brought it up, it was clear he didn't want to talk about it, so Lin Xiao didn't ask further.
The other three shared Lin Xiao's thoughts and tactfully refrained from questioning him.
Mo Yuanjiao, intrigued, asked:
"Senior Liao, how can we gain insight into our own Daoist names?"
From his eager expression, it was clear that as soon as Liao Pantu explained how, he would immediately try it.
Seeing his excitement, Liao Pantu laughed heartily:
"Why are you so eager? The method is actually quite simple: just meditate."
"Really? That simple?" The others were surprised.
But Liao Pantu shook his head:
"The method is simple, but truly obtaining your own Daoist name isn't easy. Back when I did it, I meditated for over ten days before gaining insight. And that was considered fast. Many cultivators can meditate for ten or even twenty years without success. Those are usually people whose cultivation potential is nearly exhausted."
"Is having a Daoist name really that important? Would someone really spend ten or twenty years just to gain one?" Yang Jinshu asked.
Liao Pantu nodded:
"It is quite important. Having a Daoist name is like gaining a guiding light on the path of cultivation. It makes it easier to overcome bottlenecks and breakthroughs that you might otherwise struggle with."
