Chapter 8 - ## Chapter 8: Triggering a Hidden Quest

Behind the Attack Titan, two recruits stood on a rooftop, discussing something that would shock anyone who overheard.

"Don't worry, if anything unexpected happens, I'll just use my Titan to take care of it," said the blond, battle-hardened young man, Reiner Braun, who was a soldier of the 104th Training Corps.

Next to him stood a tall, dark-haired boy named Bertolt Hoover. Unlike Reiner's confidence, Bertolt appeared much more timid. "But if the operation succeeds, the breach we worked so hard to create will be sealed."

"It's fine, I've already found what I was looking for," Reiner began to explain, but the voice behind them made both of them break out in a cold sweat.

"Reiner, Bertolt, what are you two talking about?"

At that moment, the traitorous duo had only one thought echoing in their minds.

**We've been exposed!**

Shortly after, the one who had discovered them, a soldier named Marco, was half-devoured by a Titan due to the malfunction of his vertical maneuvering equipment.

During this time, another character joined in, a soldier named Annie, who was also an enemy warrior capable of transforming into a Titan.

Believing themselves safe, the trio soon left the scene of the crime, completely unaware that another pair of eyes was watching them.

**[User No. 14552 has triggered a hidden quest: Traitors Must Be Punished.]**

**[Quest Objective: Defeat Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie, the three Marleyan warriors.]**

**[Hint: You might be able to leverage the power of certain characters.]**

**[Warning: The difficulty level of this quest has surpassed the critical threshold, posing nearly fatal risks to the user!]**

**[Warning: Once the quest is accepted, your stay in the story world will be extended!]**

**[Warning: Your actions will have a significant impact on the storyline; please choose wisely!]**

**[Do you accept the quest?]**

The cold, emotionless warnings seemed to emphasize that accepting this quest would likely result in death nine times out of ten.

If it were any other Reincarnator, they would likely follow the system's prompt and seek help.

That help could only come from the highest authority in the area, Commander Pixis, along with his relatively weak Garrison Regiment.

But here's the problem: even if these forces were to unite, would they really be able to stop the Marleyan trio?

The answer, of course, was no.

Without even considering other factors, the transformation of the Colossal Titan, akin to a nuclear explosion, would instantly annihilate the Garrison Regiment's forces.

The Garrison Regiment was already on the verge of collapse dealing with wandering Pure Titans, let alone facing three highly skilled intelligent Titans.

During the Female Titan's escape from Wall Sina, the Garrison Regiment provided almost zero assistance, with only Eren and Mikasa being able to stand up to Annie.

Even the strongest force, the Scout Regiment, was routed on the open plains by Annie alone.

Blindly reporting the trio, regardless of how they were dealt with, would inevitably lead to mission failure.

There were also many hidden risks, such as one of the main combatants, Eren, potentially losing his will to fight against Annie.

Without the active participation of the Attack Titan, not even the sharpest blade could pierce the Armored Titan's armor.

Believing that more people meant more power would only lead to complete failure for the Reincarnator.

As Eren was about to complete the boulder-lifting task, Kiba smiled and confirmed his acceptance of the quest.

**[Reincarnator has accepted the hidden quest.]**

**[Stay duration extended by three days.]**

**[Failure to complete the quest will result in a deduction of 1,000 plot points!]**

There was no mention of what would happen if there weren't enough plot points for the deduction, but Kiba wasn't interested in finding out. His decision to accept was made with confidence.

---

The odds of winning a frontal battle aren't great, so it's better to find a way to weaken the enemy's forces.

As for now, I can complete some tasks to earn contribution points while also making some progress toward accumulating "Heart of Steel."

With a burst of gas, Kiba shot forward like an arrow leaving the bow. While others feared the approaching giants, he charged at them like a cat pouncing on a mouse.

With Level 3 Manipulation, he had exceptional maneuverability, allowing him to slide close to the ground with the help of ropes, his blade aiming directly at the short giant ahead.

His sudden assault was swift and successful. As blood sprayed, the short giant fell to the ground.

Unfortunately, the giant didn't drop a treasure chest, but the following notification made his efforts worthwhile.

**[Legendary Trait (Heart of Steel) activated, Health +1]**

A brilliant smile spread across Kiba's face as he readjusted his stance. Using the recoil from the gas, he quickly ascended to a height parallel to the tower.

A quick glance revealed something unexpected—the number of giants was even greater than he had anticipated, and Eren, carrying a giant rock, was about to be forced to stop.

"What's going on? I remember there weren't this many before." As he pondered the situation, he was already rushing toward them.

When he got closer, he speculated that the difficulty level of the space had been adjusted.

"That makes sense, otherwise, the trial mission would be too easy."

After exchanging a quick greeting with the guide, he dove into the fray.

Of course, Kiba wasn't yet strong enough to fight without restraint; facing two giants simultaneously would be challenging.

But he was smart and knew who the real powerhouse on this battlefield was. No matter how he moved, he always stayed close to one of the main characters.

That "powerhouse" was none other than the story's heroine, Mikasa Ackerman.

As long as he stayed near her, while he wasn't completely safe, at least he wouldn't find himself surrounded by several giants.

**[Legendary Trait (Heart of Steel) activated, Health +1]**

**[Legendary Trait (Heart of Steel) activated, Health +1]**

**[Legendary Trait (Heart of Steel) activated, Health +1]**

**[Legendary Trait (Heart of Steel): 4 Health points accumulated in the current world.]**

The storyline task wasn't yet completed, and his "Heart of Steel" hadn't reached its peak accumulation, but he did achieve another title.

**[Achievement unlocked: You have earned the title "Giant Slayer."]**

**Giant Slayer: Increases damage dealt to giants by 15% (world-specific).**

**[Giant Butcher Achievement unlocked: Kill 0/30 giants.]**

Unlike the "Big Guy Killer," the Giant Slayer title was more suitable for the current scenario, so Kiba didn't hesitate to switch titles.

When fighting ordinary giants, he could usually kill them in one strike. But when facing those three Marleyan warriors, the extra 15% damage might make a big difference.

"Damn, what's the big deal?" Seeing him tear through the battlefield, the chubby Reincarnator spat on the ground in frustration.

As the time for their return drew nearer, his respect for the guide started to wane.

Things could have remained peaceful, but then Sean had to go and get a green-quality storyline treasure chest right in front of him.
