Hermes felt the weight of the three gods' piercing gazes upon him as he stood before them—Zeus, Poseidon, and Athena, all wearing expressions of keen interest and clear expectation. They knew something, and they were determined to get answers from him.

 

Steeling himself, Hermes spoke up, his voice firm. "I swear, I didn't know anything. All I know is that I dropped Amphitrite off in Greece," he stated.

 

Poseidon's brow furrowed in evident disbelief. "I would have felt her presence if she were truly there," he countered, his tone laced with suspicion.

 

Hermes let out an exasperated sigh, his annoyance palpable. "Well, if you can't sense her, then that's not my problem," he retorted. "I simply carried out the task as I was instructed."

 

Zeus raised a hand, silencing the exchange. "Hermes," the king of the gods intoned, his gaze piercing, "are you certain you know nothing more of Amphitrite's whereabouts or her current company?"
