"Why have you come?" Annora was fed up with his insults. Why did he come here? Just to torment her? Was she a mouse to be played with?
"Because we should work together."
Annora let out a short, mocking laugh. "How convenient. Suddenly, I'm useful?"
"Well," Edward replied smoothly, "Dimitri is. And you control him. That gives you value after all."
Her smile vanished. Annora's brows drew together, irritation flashing in her eyes. "And if I say no?"
Edward's gaze hardened, the warmth draining from it in an instant. "Then I will still have what I want. You can be an ally… or you can be an enemy." He leaned closer, his voice lowering. "Don't delude yourself into thinking Dimitri can protect you from my wrath."
Annora's fists clenched at her sides.
Even now, he spoke to her as if she were a tool—never an equal. Never a partner. Just something to be used and discarded when convenient.
"We both want those men gone," Edward continued calmly. "The so-called male leads."
