Chapter 238 - 231: The "Intruder" in the Priestess' Courtyard (Part 1)

As the ninth ship of the Shiratsuyu-class destroyers, Kawakaze's physique is entirely different from her Shiratsuyu-class sisters, as well as from other chibi-bodied destroyer ship girls.

Her body and appearance have already reached the level of a light cruiser ship girl, and she even looks more mature than Nagato.

In the game, the official reason given is that her former ideals were completely destroyed by the brutal war, which closed off her heart and made her unwilling to form close relationships with others.

Although Kawakaze possesses extraordinary combat skills, she also has a maturity that sets her apart from other destroyers.

For various reasons, after Kawakaze's creation as a ship girl, her appearance is much more mature compared to other destroyers.

However, Kawakaze is no longer the solitary person she once was when she first joined the port area; with someone's help, she has regained the ideals she once lost.

"So, do you really not remember how you got here?"

Nagato, sitting on a wooden chair, looked at the invader—whose hands were bound by Kawakaze and who was kneeling on the ground—and asked in a solemn tone.

The invader kneeling on the ground was a black-haired, black-eyed girl with long, loose hair.

The girl appeared to be about sixteen or seventeen years old, with a slim and curvy figure, barefoot, and dressed in a white kimono.

As soon as she heard Nagato's question, the invader immediately showed a distressed expression, and tears were about to slide down her cheeks as she cried out:

"I... I really don't know how I got here. When I woke up, your guards had already pinned me to the ground and tied me up!"

"You've already committed a grave offense by destroying Nagato-sama's courtyard.

The fact that I haven't killed you with a single stroke is already Nagato-sama's mercy toward you."

Kawakaze spoke coldly, and a chilling killing intent instantly surrounded the black-haired girl, causing her to shiver.

Nagato coughed lightly, and only then did Kawakaze withdraw her murderous gaze and lower her head slightly.

"Such terrifying killing intent... Who exactly are you..."

The black-haired girl, after only a few seconds of Kawakaze's intense stare, already felt the sweat soaking her back and trembled, asking in fear.

"This is also what I wish to ask you. Who are you, and how were you able to penetrate the barrier and appear in my mansion's courtyard?"

Nagato looked at the black-haired girl, her tone serious as she questioned her again.

However, the answer she received was still only three words:

"I don't remember."

Seeing the fear and confusion on the girl's face, Nagato was also at a loss.

Because she knew that the girl was not lying.

An hour ago, she, Mutsu, and Kawakaze were still sleeping in their room.

But without any warning, a deafening sound came from their courtyard, followed by a burst of white light that pierced through the window and filled the room.

After being awakened, Nagato immediately rushed to the courtyard with Mutsu and Kawakaze.

They found that the once exquisitely decorated courtyard had been completely destroyed, leaving only a large pit about three to four meters deep.

And this black-haired, black-eyed girl was standing right in the middle of the pit, seemingly still trying to cause more destruction.

As a result, Kawakaze, as a guard, unsheathed her sharp, black-red long sword and rushed at the intruder who had appeared in the mansion's barrier.

The black-haired girl also conjured a white blade of light from her hands and was about to fight back when Kawakaze pressed her long sword against her throat.

At that moment, Nagato saw that the black-haired girl was surrounded by an ominous, strange curse, so she immediately ordered Kawakaze to stop.

Then she drew a sacred cherry blossom exorcism talisman, used her ship's power, and chanted a spell, purging all the curse's power from the invader.

Sure enough, after the curse's power was cleansed, the invader lost her previous hostility and stood there in confusion, unsure of what to do.

Nagato then instructed Kawakaze to tie up the girl and bring her here so that she could personally question her.

Fortunately, Nagato had set up a barrier around the mansion, so none of the commotion had leaked out. Otherwise, it would have definitely caused a huge disturbance.

Nagato thought to herself.

Whether it was the aggressive Akagi or the cautious Musashi, with their personalities, they likely wouldn't let this girl off so easily.

If only the commander were still around.

Her sister Mutsu had already been sent to fetch Senior Mikasa for assistance, and she should be on her way back by now.

The omnipotent Senior Mikasa, the first flagship of the Sakura Union Fleet, would definitely be able to handle this situation better.

"Tap tap tap tap..."

Soon, the sound of wooden clogs clicking against the wooden floor grew louder and closer.

The door opened, and a young woman wearing a dark brown Sakura Navy uniform and a loose white admiral's coat entered the room.

She immediately looked at Nagato and Kawakaze with concern:

"Nagato, I heard your mansion was attacked by an intruder? Is everyone alright?"

This black-haired woman had a pair of white horns on either side of her head, holding a military saber with a white scabbard.

Her amber eyes carried both determination and concern.

On the white naval admiral's uniform on her right hand, the four-colored Z-flag in red, green, white, and blue signified her identity—Senior Mikasa, the battleship of the Sakura Union Fleet.

"Senior Mikasa, we are all fine," Nagato immediately stood up from her chair and spoke respectfully.

"Good morning, Senior Mikasa," Kawakaze also gave a slight bow and greeted Mikasa.

The heroic Senior Mikasa smiled when she saw that the two were unharmed and nodded at them.

She then turned her gaze to the black-haired invader, inspecting her carefully.

Before she could speak, the sound of a cheerful chibi voice came from the door:

"Sister, sister, have you learned anything from her?"

Nagato's younger sister, Mutsu—also a Big Seven Nagato-class battleship, and a short black-haired fox-eared chibi in a red and white kimono—hopped into the room.

"Unfortunately, no. She seems to have lost her memory and can't remember where she came from."

Nagato shook her head slightly, then briefly recounted what had happened to Senior Mikasa.

"Ugh... I told you, I really didn't mean it. I never intended to do those things..."

The black-haired girl, still kneeling, listened to Nagato recounting her recent actions.

She hadn't expected that she had committed such a grave offense.

Seeing the heroic Senior Mikasa stroking her chin, deep in thought as she examined her, the black-haired girl looked at Mikasa with a pitiful expression, her face full of grievance and innocence.

"Nagato, sorcery and curses are not my forte. Based on your judgment, is there any possibility of reasserting control over her?"

Upon hearing Senior Mikasa's question, Nagato pondered for a moment before answering:

"My talisman has completely purified all the curse media on her, and the one who cast that curse no longer has the power to control her."

Mutsu ran over to Nagato's side, took her hand happily, and added:

"The person who cast the curse wasn't very strong. It's strange that such a weak curse could last for hundreds of years. I wonder why..."

"That's good..."

Senior Mikasa nodded approvingly at Nagato's ability to purify the curse with such power, showing respect.

Ignoring the curious Mutsu's questions, she turned her attention back to the trembling black-haired girl.

Senior Mikasa walked up, her face softening into a gentle smile as she crouched down and spoke kindly:

"Although everything that happened earlier was not your intention, the fact that you caused such serious damage is undeniable."

Hearing Mikasa's words and seeing the white naval saber scabbard in her hands, the black-haired girl felt a wave of darkness wash over her.

As soon as Senior Mikasa approached, she instantly felt as if she were facing a whole fleet brimming with the spirit of invincibility and willingness to die.

The air seemed to thicken, making breathing feel more difficult.

She felt like she was certainly going to die.
