Jianye, Xingnan, Zhaoyang, and Nanping, the four prefectures, have been merged into Hexi Dao, and naturally, the seat of Dao City has been set in the original Zhaoyang Prefecture City where the Hou Clan is located. The Prefecture City was renamed Hexi Dao City a month ago.
Transforming from a Prefecture City to a Dao City, of course, it's not just a simple name change. According to the old rules set during the Great Yu period, a county town covers twenty li, a prefectural city fifty li, a prefecture city a hundred li, and a Dao City must exceed one hundred and fifty li. As for a higher-status state city, it must be above two hundred li.
Interestingly, today's Hexi Dao City originally started as just Tongling Prefectural City.
