The ghost lingers.
For Watson, it was like a waking nightmare, inside and out, in every nook and cranny, unable to shake off Watt's shadow.
He is the quarterback, the core and future of the team. Watt should have handed over the locker room's voice long ago, but Watt refused, clinging tightly to power, fearing being overlooked or overthrown. The confident leader image in front of the media was all an act.
In fact, Watt was just a power-hungry, superficial waste. Maybe in the first few seasons when he entered the League, Watt indeed had the ability, but after two season-ending injuries, Watt was nowhere near his peak performance, yet he continued to take up space without producing results, hindering the team's future.
If Watt was willing to train a successor and had handed over the locker room early, maybe they would have already broken through and reached the Super Bowl last season.
