Alpha Derrick sat alone in his dimly lit chamber, the scent of oakwood lingering from the wine he lazily sipped.
His eyes, though fixed on the crystal glass, were seeing nothing.
They were filled with flames of thoughts, a storm raging behind them. He looked like a man with too many wars to win and too little time.
"I've done everything I can. Every alliance, every spell, every betrayal has a reason... This time, I won't lose." He clenched the glass tighter.
"Theo and Kimberly… I'll bury them myself if that's what it takes." He muttered those words to himself under his breath.
A soft creak from the door broke the silence. He didn't flinch. Only one person would dare enter without knocking.
"Mona, what do you want?" he asked coldly, not even sparing a glance.
She stood by the door, her heart sinking at the sound of his voice. It was distant… again.
"I'm your wife, Derrick… Can't you at least look at me?" she said, her voice trembling, full of emotion.
