Chapter 44 - LANDING IN HOT SOUP

Against the cold reality of Ishtar's words, soft yet firm rejection, his morning unwelcome visit dashed like a fragile glass, Jake's heart raced before he busted out in chaotic anger.

He echoed incredulously:

"After a breath-taking moment we shared on an airplane up in the skies! How could you not see how special we're together?"

Ishtar gazed coldly faltered. Now, the stirring in Jake's chest transformed from despair to furious.

He stated:

"You think am not good enough for you? I am rich, I can be there in thin and thick. Why don't you give us a chance?"

Pushed to the limits, Jake slammed his hand on the wall, dropping a wall hanging as he added:

"You don't get to just turn me away like I am nothing! I'm not some pathetic loser waiting for your approval!"

The silent hotel suite felt more silent as the weight of his outburst hanged in the air. Jake felt so ashamed. As he stormed with frowns on his face and sat back _ down on the sofa, Ishtar watched him, mouth silently agape.

She then smiled with small silent chuckles and said to his performance:

"I thought you walked through that door too courageous. What suddenly changed?"

All of a sudden, Jake swiftly jumped off the sofa, got on his two feet and grabbed Ishtar by her neck with an aim to strangle. As his rough hands tighted around her throat, Ishtar instinctively shifted her weight. The two years of training kicked in; survival instincts took over.

Instead of panicking, she focused on the immediate threat.

With a quick motion, Ishtar brought her right knee up sharply, aiming directly at Jake's midsection. The sudden impact forced Jake to cough and loosen his grip, allowing her to draw breath as she watched him suffocating in pain with his hands now holding softly on the hit area for some seconds.

Jake was not contented yet. His masculinity, together with his eyes lied to him that Ishtar was a mere lady with a beautiful face just like many other ladies he had taken advantage of, and he can sweep her down with ease in a blink of an eye. Trying his guts once again, he attacked her, swinging his strong arm with a heavy blow.

Seizing the moment once again, Ishtar sifted her body, twisting and escaping the heavy blow that was coming straight in her face. Now facing her opponent Jake, she executed a rapid series of defence moves. She pivoted and delivered a swift elbow strike to Jake's jaw, followed by a roundhouse kick that sent him crashing to the ground.

With adrenaline coursing down her veins, Ishtar went immediately and swung the door open.

She shouted:

"Now get you stupid ass out!!!"

But she noticed that Jake was badly injured and he could not even lift a finger down from the plush carpet where he was laying.

Without wasting any second, Ishtar pushed the door back to close, rushed and began to gather the few belongings she had entered the hotel with. She started with collecting all her makeup items from the dressing mirror table; putting all of them into the suitcase that was open on the bed _ her wigs followed by her laptop, and quickly closed the zipper.

Aside were red high heels. A long black dress which had a slit that moved from the bottom upto the thigh on the side was also not far _ hanging in the closet. Stunning in her young lady high class identity, Ishtar was already in a beautiful shape from head toe after putting all of them on and wearing a calm makeup.

Ready to leave, for a few seconds she stood motionless and stared into the distance at the door. Looking somehow anxious as if her instincts spoke to her that more trouble was on its way, quickly she bent and grabbed her suitcase from bed, then rushed past Jake on her way out.

She turned and stared at him with distaste before she closed her eyes behind shades, and pulled the door to close herself outside. Looking at the elevator door in a distance as she rushed towards it while pulling her small suite case on rollers, Ishtar's smartphone in the handbag vibrated.

Inside, Jake was still laying down on the plush carpet, struggling with strong pain from a shameful beating.

Without losing her quick pace, Ishtar glanced at the smartphone screen reading "unknown" caller. Besides a hidden caller identity, Ishtar had never had anyone calling on her phone from when she bought it except Mr Beard, the only family she knew she had in her life.

This was offbeat _ curious. Her mind spun and she began to slow down her footsteps.

"Who could be calling?"

With strong curiosity, she placed the phone on her left ear. A calm, gentle and deep male voice began to speak behind the phone.

"You only left with ten minutes to depart from that hotel building, else you'll have to count a minimum of thirty years behind bars."

Composed, with no desperation in her voice, Ishtar asked, anxious to know more.

"Who are you?!"

The deep voice replied:

"Am your saviour _ a concerned gentleman who wouldn't smile when an innocent young lady is held accountable for a crime she didn't commit."

"How did you get my contact?"

With gentleness, the voice behind the phone call replied:

"A young beautiful lady checked into a grand hotel suite at 6pm in the evening. Just like a foolish ostrich that hides its head and forgets its big body outside, thinking it's now safe from an enemy, she did so well to hide behind a maturity make-up disguise, walked in the grand hotel with topnotch security system and entered someone's suite to unlive them."

The deep voice added:

"That was foolish."

On hearing this, Ishtar's footsteps faltered. Still holding the phone on her ear in shock, the voice was still talking behind the phone:

"The corpse of your missed target has been discovered. The security operatives will soon be at your door....."

Afraid, Ishtar looked back over her shoulder at the suite she had just walked out of, but at the moment, the whole corridor was still clear.

The voice adding once again:

"There's a G-wagon a few metres from the hotel just incase you need a quick get away. In less than ten minutes it will be gone."

And immediately the call ended, leaving her gazing anxiously with her phone on ear. Stuck with multiple question marks around her curious face:

"Feels like the same voice has ever spoke to me!"

In the corridor where she was standing with a mixture of thoughts, a brilliant idea clicked on her unsettled mind. Immediately, she rushed towards the elevator, embarking on her way out of the hotel building as soon as possible, honouring the good Samaritan warning before her life could dip into a pan of troubles.
