Early in the morning, Xia Lu was still in her dreams when the incessant buzzing of her cell phone reached her ears; she reached for it and held it to her ear.
"Hello..." Her voice raspy from just waking up, also carried a tinge of weariness.
"Did I disturb you?" came the voice of Fang Ailing from the other end. The sound was so lively and refreshing, it jolted her awake in an instant. She brought the phone in front of her eyes, and, sure enough, it was Fang Ailing.
She immediately cleared her throat and sat up, "Auntie Fang, what's the matter?"
"I'm really sorry for calling you so early," Fang Ailing said, "It's just that there's been a little problem at the hospital. This morning, the nurse came and notified us to go and pay the bill. I saw the bill, and from last weekend until now, just a short week, the treatment and nursing costs amounted to twenty thousand. I was wondering if there might have been some mistake, so I thought I'd ask you."
