"Check mate." Zachiel grinned, knocking down his friend's pawn.
His friend, Harrison chuckled, "It seems that no matter how much I try, I just cannot beat you. We've been playing for four decades and I've lost every time."
Zachiel signaled his caretaker to rearrange the pawns.
"Most people think chess is a game centered around wits and strategy. But in reality, it's all about how much control you can have over your pawns, and your enemy's pawns. The person with the most control wins, it's just that simple." Zachiel explained over the soft music playing from his vintage record player.
Harrison raised a brow. "Are we still talking about chess, or about the situation with your grandson?"
"Why can't it be both? As it stands, Thane must be regretting not siding with me. Naturally, because I'm older I'll forgive him for his foolishness, young people tend to make rash decisions-" Harrison cut him off.
