Chapter 6 - chapter 6

We enter the throne room. The king watched us with a look off, just raising his eyes. It showed exhausted, without strength. We knelt, just as the gentleman had asked us before entering. At that moment, I took the opportunity to leave Elena waiting near the entrance of the castle, in case something happened.

The man in front of us appeared as King Eldring. He welcomed us and allowed us to travel the city as much as we wanted. I wanted us to feel at home ... although with a clear warning:

"Distride what is left today." But tomorrow morning, if you don't want to die in this war, you better leave.

That left us silent. We were about to retire when Daichi, my brother, got up from the ground and asked the king if he could join his soldiers in the front. The king gave him permission, although in his gaze there was sadness. Even so, he added:

"It would be better for you to go to a place where there is no war."

But Daichi did not accept it. Firmly, he replied that he did not worry about him, that he was too strong to die. The other heroes supported him, reaffirming his decision to stay to fight. The King, moved, began to question whether to surrender was really the right option. Should I give without battle? What would their people think, even if they were starving?

Then, with renewed value, Eldring ordered the gentleman:

"Read all the people of the kingdom in front of the castle, right now!"

Ten minutes passed. The gentleman returned and reported that the town was already gathered. The King slowly got up from his throne and walked to the balcony. Below, hundreds of people congregated in silence. He waited a few more seconds, until making sure that almost everyone was there. Then, he raised his voice.

"Lumeria Kingdom!" I know we are living dark times! We face a war that seems impossible! The other races want to conquer and disappear from the map! But we ... we will not give up!

Even if we don't have magic! Even if we don't have allies! Even if everything seems lost ...!

We will fight!

For our families!

For our land!

For ourselves!

The king shouted with all his heart. At first, the people were silent. A few seconds that felt eternal. Until a voice rose between the crowd:

"I don't want to die without fighting!" I don't want to see how they kill those I love!

Then, one by one, the inhabitants of Lumeria raised their arms and shouted strongly, determined to fight. It was as if a new fire had lit its souls.

Mey approached me and told me quietly:

"The king ... was amazing."

"Yes," I replied with a little smile.

The king returned with us. It showed different ... stronger. He looked at us with determination.

"I just hope they don't die tomorrow."

Then he called the gentleman. I wanted to talk to him privately.

Daichi, before leaving, approached the king and said safely:

"Don't worry, Majesty." None of us will die tomorrow. I will not allow it.
