When the knights discovered Theo's body in the family estate, the entire house shuddered.

 

Even if he had lost any real value to House Earhart, Theo still bore our name. He was still a rightful member of the dynasty—and that alone made his death weighty for Hafelto. Even I, who held nothing but contempt for him, found myself shaken. Not out of grief, nor pity—only because of the sheer suddenness. It was… too unexpected.

 

I hadn't been there when it happened—I was still recovering from my last mission in Gattir. But according to Kazimir, the investigation had hit a dead end.

 

Theo had been found alone, lifeless, his abdomen punctured clean through. The wound was flawless, almost surgical, a perfect circular cut. No trace of an attacker, no signs of escape, not even a hint of a real struggle. Just faint indications of resistance—so faint they could barely be called a fight.

 

His bodyguard had vanished as well. No corpse. No trail.
