Chapter 217 - C217 : Royal Capital (6)

"Don't be shy now darling." Night Silver giggled, ruffling Climb's hair. "I've seen so many loves blossoming, it is impossible to hide it from me, no matter how good you think you are at hiding it." She said with a smile.

"This… is quite sudden." Ramposa spoke, clearing his throat, a rare frog had decided to lay there despite the fact he was king. "I can not just give my daughter to a noble without any land." He said, stroking his beard, thinking about what to do. Then he looked at his daughter Renner's face, and then to Gazef, the latter made a slight nod towards the chief of a certain village. "Ah, I have a suggestion. I hereby grant Princess Renner the village of Carne, and the surrounding land required to sustain it."

"Oh? That's interesting, given the new division of land, a new name would be in order, however, I refuse to acknowledge any changes to the name of Carne. The young man was one worthy of respect. So, how about the lands being named the Vaiself Duchy. What are your thoughts on the matter dear child?"

Renner smiled and clapped her hands together, and stood up. "It sounds wonderful." She was completely blinded by the notion of marrying the love of her life, all other matters were both trivial, and inconsequential to her.

"Excellent, now then. Climb, you'll be marrying into a duchy. A noble family with direct relation to the king."

Climb was beat red, everything was flying so far, so fast. The village's chief strained to keep his laughter at the absurd situation under wraps, however he had to speak.

"Pardon me, but would you permit this old man to speak?" The king waved his hand in a gesture for the man to continue. "My princess, now lady duchess, I am the village chief of carne, and I pledge service and fealty." He bowed, making Renner's new position firm from both above and below. In short, she was now cemented in place as the new ruler over the small lands.

"Thank you, I'll let you keep governing as you would for now." She answered with a typical response of a noble. "Now don't you wish for your lady's happiness?"

"Yes, your highness."

Climb was still in complete shock for the moment. He had never expected this kind of development to occur, he'd just been going through the paces and now suddenly he was put in a position to marry his childhood heroine, and idol.

Then there was a commotion outside of the chamber, the door still held ajar due to the sheer shock of the situation. There at the hall's entrance stood a woman clad in regal looking attire, though it was clearly stuffy. Her facial expression was difficult to discern given she couldn't settle on one, which in some ways could be, confusion… She quickly glanced at a man, one of the Marquis Pespea, then to the king, and then to other royals, finally back to the sight she'd been enamored with.

Finally she began to slowly walk into the hall, her fan fell to the floor, and she started to settle on a smile of joy, the type of joy a devout follower would have seeing the being at the center of their worship twinkled in her eyes. A look that grew more intense with each and every step she took forward, closing the distance.

Night Silver, sensing the presence of a devout worshiper of hers approaching, turned with the grace befitting not just any goddess, but the mother of nature, and mother of a pantheon of gods and goddesses. She let her lips curl into a knowing, and loving smile… one of the grandest gifts to those who truly love her.

"My my, what a beautiful vision, you must be Ramram's eldest daughter. Come here child, you're just in time to see your little sister's engagement, Marquess Pespea."

"Oh Goddess Mother Nature! How I've wished for a day like this! To see you in all your otherworldly and divine splendor. I fear despite my efforts I'm a far cry from your beauty." She said practically running into Night Silver's embrace, burying her face in the firm, and yet soft perfect bosom on display.

"Pfft, you're just adorable, and… it seems."

"Shh, I haven't told him yet. It unfortunately took us a while with all of the work he's been busy with."

"Oh, I see, well then. I'll let you tell him yourself."

"Welcome dear sister, we should have tea later and talk. It's been too long since we last talked."

"Hmm? Renner, what's this about you getting married? Is it with that darling boy Climb you used to nap with as a young child, falling asleep to stories?" She teased, then released… "Oh my, looks like I was right, your blush says it all! Congratulations!!!! Yes, let's have tea together and talk all about it."

"Well, he's being a little shy in accepting it for the moment…" Renner said, with a slight deviation from the proper image of a princess.

Climb saw the change, and gulped, finally standing up straight on his own two feet once more, with a new look of determination. One so powerful, even the slight drop of milk on the corner of his mouth wasn't enough to distract from it.

"I would be honored to accept her highness Princess Renner's hand in marriage. I swear I will do everything in my power to serve, and protect her, her happiness, and future." Climb stated in a bold declaration.

"I OPPOSE!" Barbro shouted in protest. "Father, you can't seriously think of treating me like this, and then uplifting a mere commoner to the position of duke!"

"Pipe down Barbro. You managed to insult the one person you never should have. This is the result."

"Dear father, your majesty, what exactly did my idiot little brother do?"

"Apologies sweetie. If you would explain it to her, Goddess, I would be grateful."

Night Silver smiled, with a slight twitch, but leaned into Marquess Pespea's ear and whispered the explanation.

Immediately following the explanation, the Marquess' expression twisted, and she stepped right up to her brother, and slapped him right across the face.

"How dare you brother! And to her most exalted, divine self! The pride all women should look up to! Is insulting such a woman your idea of manhood!? Idiot!" She continued with the slaps for a few minutes until Barbro ran out of the room. "COWARD!" She fumed.

"Marquis Pespea, your wife is quite spirited."

"She is defending the goddess that allowed both her and Barbro to live. It's only natural."
