One day Athena was on a public bus going back to her home from school and she had a call from her mother, " Hey sweetie where are you right now, are you home yet?" Asked her mother. " Not yet, I am still in the bus , almost there" replied Athena. "Ok, call me when you get home and food is inside the fridge, don't forget to eat it, don't talk to any strangers and be sure to keep the door locked all the time, especially at night an-"said mother and Athena interrupted in between and said, "Mom! I know that, I am not a kid anymore." "I know sweetie you are not a kid but it's natural for a parent to worry about their child, especially when they are away from them for some reason." Said mother. "Yeah mom I know I will take care of myself so that you and dad won't worry about me during work." Said Athena. "Aww! Thank you sweetie, me and your dad will be there tomorrow night." Said mother. "That's nice I will be waiting for your return" said Athena. "Bye sweetie Mommy loves you so much." Said mother. "Bye mom, I love you too." Said Athena. Athena is an independent girl, her parents are most of the time out of station so, she is used to living alone at her home. She knows mostly everything about living alone, how to do the chores, how to cook food for herself, how to clean the house and many more important stuff related to living alone, but what she didn't know was her life was going to change from that point. She was casually listening to a song with her headphones when suddenly she saw a man outside from the window who was surrounded by a thick black fog. Then she noticed the boy in front of her who also noticed that person with the black fog. Then that boy started murmuring something. Suddenly that boy who was sitting in front of her, disappeared into thin air. She was shocked and started panicking in her mind, "Where did he go, he was sitting right in front of me, what happened."Then she reached out to a lady sitting next to her on the second column seat of the bus. "Hey miss, did you see that boy who was sitting in front of me?" Asked Athena. She didn't reply. "Miss are you ok, m..miss" asked Athena in a frightened voice. She was not moving at all. Not just her, she looked around everywhere inside and outside the bus. Not a single person was moving including the bus and the surrounding too. Then she noticed her watch and she was shocked to see that her watch stopped ticking even though it was brand new. After looking here and there she concluded that somehow time has stopped completely and she is the only one who can move. Well that's what she thought but after a while she found the boy who was sitting in front of her, was standing near that man with the black fog surrounding him and he was again murmuring something. She reached out to the boy and said, "Hey you what are you doing." "Holy Sh**!" The boy was startled by Athena's sudden appearance. "Who are you? Or, what are you?" Asked the boy. "Me, I am a normal human and that should be my question for you, who are you and what are you doing?" Asked Athena. "Oh I see, it must be that kind of situation, yes..yes that explains everything" Murmured the boy. "Do you have a habit of talking to yourself?" Asked Athena with an annoyed expression. "Who me, no I don't, I was just reaching to a conclusion about the situation we are in right now." Said the boy. "Oh yeah then tell me the conclusion you have reached." Said Athena. "I will tell you everything but before that let me finish something that I started." Said the boy. He took out a glass bottle and started murmuring something again. After a while that black fog surrounding that person started going inside the glass bottle. "What just happened here, how did it go inside that bottle and what did you do?" Asked Athena. "I will tell you everything you want to know but first let's find a place where we can talk in private so that no one can listen." Said the boy. "Where can we go?" Asked Athena. "I don't know I am not a local here, by the looks of it you live in this town so you should tell me where we can go to get some privacy because what I am going to tell you is very confidential." Said the boy with a serious look on his face. "I have no idea. I'm not the kind of person who goes out of the house very much, school is the only place I go outside my house." Said Athena. "Hmm…then who lives in your house except you?" Asked the boy. "Don't you think that's too personal, asking a girl about who lives with her?" Said Athena. "Well I don't know of a better place in this town for this purpose." Said the boy. "Well my home is not far from here and there is nobody except for me for tonight." Said Athena. "Well that's perfect, no one will eavesdrop in our conversation, if you allow it." Said the boy. "Ok, I think I can trust you and by the way my name is Athena." Said Athena. "Oh thanks for trusting me and my name is Lucifer." Said Lucifer. They went and boarded the bus again and Lucifer Murmured something again and everything was back to normal. "Where do your parents live, Athena?" Asked Lucifer. "My parents live with me but they often go on their business trip leaving me behind because of the school." Said Athena. "So, you are not afraid of living alone?" Asked Lucifer. "Well before it was scary but now I'm used to it and what about you?" Asked Athena. "Me, my life isn't that interesting, my parents died when I was still a kid and then I started living with my Master in L.A and we travelled around the world because of work we do." Said Lucifer. "Wow..you actually travelled around the world, what kind of work is that?" Asked Athena. "I will tell you when we reach your house." Answered Lucifer. "Well ok but there is something that I wanted to try for a long time so, you are going to help me with that." Stated Athena. "What is it?" Asked Lucifer. Athena whispered in Lucifer's ears. "No, I am not going to do that, not in a million years." Declared Lucifer. "You have to do it or I will tell the police what you were doing and you asked personal questions from a girl." Threatened Athena. "You demon! trying to threaten me, I will not give in to your mere threats." Said Lucifer. "Oh! So you won't do it, ok…" Said Athena. "Ok, I will do it, it's not that big of a deal." Said Lucifer. "We are here, this is my stop, let's get down." Said Athena. Both got down the bus and went towards Athena's house. She took out her key and unlocked her house. "You wait here just coming from my room." Said Athena. Lucifer sat down on the sofa and waited for Athena. "I'm back, and now put your hands forward." Said Athena. "Is it really necessary to do this?" Asked Lucifer. "Yeah it is, now put your hands forward." Said Athena. Lucifer reached out his hands together and Athena put handcuffs on his hands. "Now come with me." Said Athena. She took him to her house basement where she made an interrogation room she developed for this day. Now Athena is a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and likes the work of detectives so she made an interrogation room with a table and two chairs inside the room. Lucifer sat down on one of the chairs with his hand tied. "Now talk, you scum." Said Athena. "Finally, I always wanted to say that to someone." Said Athena. "Wow! good for you really I am very happy for you." Said Lucifer in a sarcastic way. "Oh I forgot my detective cap, can we do it again?" Asked Athena. "No please I don't want to go through that again and can you please open these handcuffs, they are seriously annoying." Said Lucifer. "Ok..ok, chill bro I was just kidding." Said Athena. "Oh yeah, it doesn't sound like you were kidding." Said Lucifer. She then opened Lucifer's handcuffs. "Now, let me introduce myself again, my name is Lucifer and I am a Mage." Said Lucifer. "Mage! For real, like those who can use magic right." Asked Athena. "Yes, indeed those who can wield magic, and I am one of them." Said Lucifer. "So, you are saying that magic exists." Said Athena. "Yes, magic exists and so do the Mages who are gifted with these powers." Said Lucifer. "And what was that black fog surrounding that person back where we met?" Asked Athena. "That was Negative Negetive Energy. Negative thoughts of human beings combined together, the stronger the thoughts and emotions are, the stronger the Negative Energy will be. We Mages are the only ones who can see these Negative Energy, so it's our duty to get rid of them, that's why I came to this town because of the sudden increase of Negative Energy in the area and that why me and my Master who taught me how to use magic travelled around the world to get rid of these Negative Energies." Said Lucifer. "So why can I see it, I am not a Mage?" Asked Athena. "You are not a Mage but you are compatible to become a Mage." Said Lucifer. "I can use magic?. How can I use it?" Asked Athena. "It's not that easy to use it, first you have to know which magic and elemental magic you can use." Said Lucifer. "Are there different types of magic?" Asked Athena. "Yes, indeed there are two types: Elemental Magic and Grand Magic. In Elemental Magic there are five elements which come under Common Elements, and they are- Wind, Fire, Water, Earth and Lighting. Then comes the Rare Elements which are- Light and Dark.
Then comes the Grand Magic which is pretty rare, not every Mage can use this type of magic. Magic that comes under Grand Magic are- Rare Grade and Special Grade. In Rare Grade there are- Teleportation Magic, Communication Magic, Storage Magic and many more. Magic that come under Specials Grade are- Time Magic, Sword Magic, Summoning Magic. There are still many more Special Grade Magic yet to be found." Said Lucifer. "Man, there are a lot of them, but how do you know I can use magic?" Asked Athena. "Well you can see the Negative Energies." Said Lucifer. "Well yeah as far as I can remember and what I have heard from my parents I have been seeing these Negative Energies you mentioned from the time I was born. My parents told me I often get scared of something that they can't see and cry every time because of it. After coming to an age when I started talking, I started pointing out something to my parents, but still they can't see them. I always wondered why I was the only one who could see those things and no one else can. I was bullied in class when I was younger. Kids were saying that I was a witch who can see ghosts, talk with them and curse people by ordering the ghost to haunt them for their entire life and their parents were also scolding and telling their children not to interact with me, not to play with me. But my parents were always very supportive, always helping me and trying their best so that I don't feel lonely but they can't do anything about their business trip." Said Athena. "I feel really sorry for you but that's how we all live their childhood. It's hard for us, not to notice what's in front of you, we get scared, ostracised by society but this is not something we wanted but got it because someone has to play the part of the protector." Said Lucifer. "But why protect those who abandoned you?" Asked Athena. "Well you are not entirely wrong, it's just how it is." Said Lucifer. "What?! I don't understand." Said Athena. "You will understand one day." Said Lucifer. "Ok, in Elemental Magic there are two ways you can use it, number one- Control Elements and second- Create Elements. Every Mage can control all five Common Elements but you can't control Rare Elements without their aptitude, in other words, if you have an aptitude for Light Magic then only you can control Light and it's the same for Dark Magic. Let's take an example, I have the aptitude for Water so, I can do both create and control water and I can also control other elements like Fire, Wind, Earth and Lighting. I also have the aptitude of Wind and Earth so I can create Water, Wind and Earth magic only." Said Lucifer. "Three elements, is that rare?" Asked Athena. "Well it is kinda rare." Said Lucifer. And what about Grand Magic, is there any control or create concept in it?" Asked Athena. "No there is not, Grand Magic is pretty rare, not everyone can use it, the Rare Grade is the most common Grand Magic among the Mages, very few can use them and the Special Grade is even rarer." Said Lucifer. "So, what kind of magic can I use, can you tell?" Asked Athena. "Well, to know that you need to check out the Mages Guild who appraise your magic." Said Lucifer. "What! That's a bummer." Said Athena. "Lucky for you, I can use Appraisal Magic which is a Rare Grade magic." Said Lucifer. "Appraisal Magic! What's that?" Asked Athena. "By using it, it will allow me to see anyone's Magic aptitude." Said Lucifer. "Wow! That's convenient, use it on me and tell me." Said Athena. "Ok I will check, I have my doubts that need to be cleared." Said Lucifer. Then Lucifer started enchanting, "Grand Magic- Rare Grade, APPRAISAL!" Shouted Lucifer. "What the hell! you need to enchant it, so that's what you were murmuring on the bus." Said Athena. "Hmmm…I see, I have my suspicions on the magic you can use. Huh! what's that." Said Lucifer. "Hey, wait, why are you staring at me that much, are you using some kind of X-ray from your eyes to see under my clothes, you pervert." Said Athena. "No! Why would I do that? I'm not a pervert, I was just seeing your aptitudes." Said Lucifer. "Yeah, then tell me what you saw?" Asked Athena. "Well, by the looks of it, it seems you can use three elements- Fire, Earth and Lighting and you also can use Light magic as a Rare Element." Said Lucifer. "Three elements and Light Magic too, Man that's awesome, I always knew that I was special." Said Athena. "Not just that, you can use Storage Magic and Communication Magic as Rare Grade Magic." Said Lucifer. "What are these two? What do they do?" Asked Athena. "Storage Magic allow you the Infinite Storage to keep your thing, but it has a limit to how big of object you are keeping because it will be difficult for the wielder to use it but these limits can be overcome by how much you have mastered the Magic and the same goes to Communication Magic it allows you to communicate with someone thought Telepathic Link and it's range will increase by how much you have mastered the Magic." Said Lucifer."Wow! Both of them sound very cool and convenient. What about Special Grade Magic, do I have any?" Asked Athena. "I was just going to tell you that. You have Time Magic and something that I cannot appraise." Said Lucifer. "What do you mean by cannot appraise, is it hard to do or something else?" Asked Athena. "No, it's that. It's like something is stopping me from seeing that Magic." Said Lucifer. "Then how do you know I have another Special Grade Magic?" Asked Athena. "Well because it's saying 'Unidentified Magic'." Said Lucifer. "Unidentified…huh! interesting and I can also use Time Magic like you right?" Asked Athena. "Yes you can and that was the reason why you were the only one who was moving during my Time Freezing Spell." Said Lucifer. "And why is that?" Asked Athena. "It's because when a Mage uses a Time Freezing Spell it can not stop a Time Magic wielder permanently. He or she can only stop a Time Magic wielder with Time Freezing Spell for only ten seconds after that, that person's Time Magic will cancel out the other person's Time Freezing Spell and these ten seconds can be decreased by mastering the Time Magic, but what I can't understand is how did your magic cancelled out my Spell, in order to do that, the wielder has to unlock their Time Magic." Said Lucifer "Maybe I am special that's why." Said Athena. "Could be, it is possible." Said Lucifer. "So, how can I unlock my magic?" Asked Athena. "Elemental Magics are unlocked by practising the easiest spell of that particular Element of which you have aptitude." Said Lucifer. "Wow! nice, guess it will be easy then because I am special after all." Said Athena. "Even the most talented Mages had to work hard and train everyday nonstop to master the Elements of which they have aptitude, so you need to do the same." Said Lucifer. "Yeah, yeah, I know that I was just kidding." Said Athena. "Now let me show you how to use Elemental Magic, watch closely Athena." Said Lucifer. "First, I will show you the Control Element type Magic, let's take Water Element." Said Lucifer. Then Lucifer started enchanting the spell, "Elemental Magic- Type Control, WATER!" The water inside the glass kept on the table started floating in the air. "Wow! That's awesome." Said Athena. "Impressive right, but wait there still more, now you can do anything with this water, like for example you can make it a fish like this." Said Lucifer. The water floating in the air took the shape of a fish and started swimming in the air. "Wow! That's soooo…cool." Said Athena. "Yes, it is, Magic is very fascinating and mesmerising, you can make anything with it. Now let's move on to the next type, Create Element Type." Said Lucifer. "Let's see, Water, Wind and Earth, which one should I use? I guess Water will be ideal at this location." Said Lucifer. "Wait, what do you mean by that, does it cause any destruction?" Asked Athena. "No it doesn't, I will use the weakest Water Spell, don't worry." Said Lucifer. Lucifer started enchanting again, "Elemental Magic- Type Create - WATER SPEAR!" A spear made up of water appeared in front of Lucifer and Athena. "Amazing! I can't wait to use these kinds of spells." Said Athena. "Create Element Types are mostly used for combat purposes." Said Lucifer. "Ok, now the main question, can I be able to master Magic or even better can I be able to unlock my aptitudes?" Asked Athena. "Yes, it's possible, if you work hard and train everyday you will be able to unlock Elemental Magic." Said Lucifer. "Okay, and what about Grand Magic?" Asked Athena. "It depends on the type, like Rare Grade is unlocked when you are in desperate need of that particular Magic like for example, one of your Rare Grade Magic is Storage Magic, so it will be unlocked when you are in a desperate need of storage. And the Special Grade Magic will be unlocked when you are in some kind of danger. Oh yeah, Grand Magic can only be unlocked after successfully unlocking all your Elemental Magic both Control and Create types." Said Lucifer. "What kind of danger are you talking about, it kinda sounds scary." Said Athena. "There are many dangers in the world of Mages, you would never know." Said Lucifer with a serious look in his eyes. "Man, I just got a chill down to my spine." Said Athena. "So, when can we start?" Asked Athena. "'Start what?" Asked Lucifer. "The training of course, to master the elements." Said Athena. "Wait…wait, the life of a Mage is not easy at all, all the dangers they have to face every day while capturing the Negative Energy and that's not it, there are much bigger threat for a Mage and that is Negative Beasts and not just that, there is your Mage's Council and I am telling you, you don't want to get on their bad side they are very dangerous people." Said Lucifer. "And what are these, Negative Beasts and Mage's Council?" Asked Athena. "Negative Beasts are a form of Negative Energy in other words, it is made up of a lot of Negative Energy combined together. Different negative thoughts of people take up a form of different Negative Energies and these different Negative Energies have different negative thoughts that make up a Negative Beasts. And as for Mage's Council, it is like a form of government for Mages Society. They control all the Magic Guild and assign different tasks to different Mages. The council is made up of different Mages working together in unity and the heads of the council are 4 Upper Echelons. They are the highest ranking Mages in the world, the Grandmasters." Explained Lucifer. "'Grandmasters' what's that?" Asked Athena. "Well, there is a ranking system in the Mages Society. First comes the Beginner rank, second is the Intermediate rank, third Is Advanced rank, fourth is the Professional or Pro Rank fifth Is the Legendary rank and finally sixth is the Grandmaster rank. There is another one even higher than the Grandmaster and that is GOD rank but there is no one in this entire world who holds that rank, legends say that there was one a very long..long time ago and he was super strong, far more stronger than all the Mage's power combined together and this rank can only be given to only one person, in other words there can be no other person with the same GOD rank." Said Lucifer. "So, what happened to that person who holded the GOD rank?" Asked Athena. "No one knows, some say he died, some say he disappeared, some say he never existed like it's just a myth but no one knows the truth about his existence, some even say he is still alive hiding somewhere waiting for the right time to reveal himself." Explained Lucifer. "How many Grandmasters are there in the world?" Asked Athena. "Only five in existence right now, four in are the council heads and one is just a regular Mage who resigned from the Echelon's position." Said Lucifer. "And who is that one person?" Asked Athena. "Well, he is no one important, just a fellow Mage and the pawn of the Council." Said Lucifer. "I still didn't get one thing, how is Mage's Council dangerous for Mages?" Asked Athena. "Well, they are not dangerous for every Mage, heck they are the reason every Mage has a purpose in their life. Mage's Council is like a double edged sword, sharp and dangerous. They are dangerous for Mages like us who have exceptional talents in their arsenal, meaning powerful magic that can cause a lot of destruction. If they think that your magic is dangerous for humanity, they won't think twice to eliminate you in the name of justice." Explained Lucifer. "Man, that's some serious." Said Athena. "So yeah that's what I meant when I said that a Mage's life is full of dangers but it's fun too." Said Lucifer. They just talked with each other for a while about their life. "After thinking for a long time I have decided that I am going to become a Mage just like you and you will help me with that." Said Athena. "A long time, it's just been two minutes." Said Lucifer. "Yeah, it's long enough don't worry, I gave a lot of thought about this during this entire two minutes and came to this decision." Said Athena. "At least, discuss it with your parents, you dummy!" Said Lucifer. "Yeah...yeah, I know that don't worry, I will discuss it with them when they come back tomorrow." Said Athena. "It's late now, I think I should go back, call me when you are ready to depart." Said Lucifer. "Ok and by the way, where are you staying tonight?" Asked Athena. "The Magic Guild of this town, they have room for Mages to stay and do their job without worrying about where they are going to stay tonight." Said Lucifer. "What! Does this town even have a Magic Guild?" Asked Athena. "Yes there is one, the Council makes sure that every city or town has at least one Magic Guild." Said Lucifer. After a while Lucifer left Athena's house and headed to the Magic Guild. Twenty four hours later, when Athena's parents came she talked with them on the dinner table and told them everything Lucifer told her. At first, she thought they wouldn't believe her, but she was wrong as they already knew about Athena's situation, that she can see something that others can't. "Look sweetie, we get what you are trying to say and we believe you completely, but it sounds very dangerous for you." Said Mother. "Yes honey, your mother is right, we don't want you to do something crazy like that in a million years." Said Father. "I know Mom and Dad that it's dangerous but I will be fine, remember your daughter is special after all Lucifer will be there too and I am telling you he is super strong like freaking strong, heck he can stop time itself, tell me anyone who can do that." Said Athena. "Sweetie, I get that this Lucifer guy is super strong but as far as we are concerned he is a total stranger and we don't know anything about him at all, how can we trust him when your life's on the line." Said Mother. "Your mother is right honey." Said Father. "Don't you have anything else to say to her dear, all you are doing is agreeing with me." Said Mother with a furious look. "Yes, there is something that I want to ask her, honey…. Athena do you think…I can also use Magic?" Asked Father. "YOU IDIOT!!!" Shouted Mother. Athena's father is obsessed with other mythology and magic stuff. He was actually a weeb in his highschool age, that is the reason he named his daughter 'Athena', who is a female goddess in Greek Mythology. "No, I don't think so, because you can't see the Negative Energies right." Said Athena. "Ohh!! Don't answer him Sweetie." Said Mother. "I can't, sigh…What a bummer." Said Father with disappointment. "As we were saying, you, living the life of a Mage is unacceptable, it's far too dangerous for you to handle, you will die and we don't want to lose our precious daughter. Aren't I right honey?" Asking Mother from Father. "Why God, why are you so unfair, can't you give everyone the ability to use Magic. Have you forsaken me God!!" Shouted Father. "You are still stuck with that?" Said Mother with a furious look. "Mom-Dad, I will be fine, you both raised me and made me stronger, dangers can't even touch me. Nowadays, I started feeling lonely without you guy around, so I guess, even it my life as a Mage will be full of dangers and despair but I will be happy knowing that I am doing something that I like or otherwise as I know myself if I don't become a Mage, in the future I will regret it not trying my hardest. I hope Mom you will understand that, I am trying my best to make you guys proud, but what I am doing right now feels incomplete like I am just dragging myself along as time passes." Said Athena. "Listen sweetie, you don't have to work that hard, you made us proud from the moment you were born, you made us proud by growing up so quickly and being so mature as compared to the children of your age. You just live your life as you want, you surviving is the biggest honour for us, as your parents you already made us proud, but we need a bit more time to give our final answer sweetie. Me and your father will discuss it over night, you go and sleep." Said Mother. "Okay mother, I understand I will wait for your answer tomorrow, goodnight mom and dad." Said Athena. "Good night sweetie." Said Mother. "Goodnight honey." Said Father. Athena then went to sleep in her room. Athena then started talking to herself, "I wonder what would be their decision, even so I will try my hardest to convince them." Suddenly someone started knocking on her room's balcony window. KNOCK! KNOCK!. Athena jumped off her bed in fear. "Who's there?" Asked Athena frighteningly. "It's me Lucifer, open the window please." Said Lucifer. "Oh, it's just you, don't give me a heart attack next time." Said Athena. She opened the window of her balcony and let Lucifer in. "Sorry about that, I didn't think that you would be scared." Said Lucifer. "Anyone will get scared when suddenly someone starts knocking on their balcony window in the middle of night, especially when their room is on the freaking first floor. How did you even get here and how did you climb up on my balcony?" Asked Athena. "Magic of course, it can do anything. First I used my Teleportation Magic to get on your doorstep and I was casually going to use the front door to let myself inside the house, then I remembered that it might look rude to your parents so I used Wind Magic to fly to your balcony." Said Lucifer. "Right, just how many types of magic can you even use?" Asked Athena with an annoyed expression. "Not much, forget that, what happened? What did your parents say about you going?" Asked Lucifer. "I don't know bro, after that long discussion, my mother said they need time to give an answer and she told me to wait till morning." Said Athena. "Hmm…I guess it will be fine then, no matter what discussion they make, in the end it will benefit you. Listen, if they agree then come to the place we first met at twelve noon, do you get it, we will depart from there." Said Lucifer. "Don't you have a phone?" Asked Athena. "No, I don't because it always breaks in the middle of a job." Said Lucifer. After talking for a while Lucifer left Athena's house. And then Athena went to bed. Next morning, when Athena woke up she rushed downstairs to ask her parents about their decision. "Mom-Dad! Where are you?" Shouted Athena. "We are here Athena in the living room." Said Mother. "Good morning Mom and Dad." Said Athena. "Good morning Athena." Said Mother. "Good morning Athena, slept well?" Asked Father. "Yes Dad, I slept well." Said Athena. "And now about the decision, huh, me and your father has decided to let you go on the journey of becoming a Mage and living the life of a Mage too." Said Mother. "Are you serious Mom and Dad?" Asked Athena. "Yes we are serious Athena, your happiness always comes first no matter what." Said Father. "Yaahoo!!!" Shouted Athena. Then Athena started packing her bag to meet up with Lucifer. "I am heading out, Mom and Dad." Said Athena. "Be sure to be careful on the journey and don't push yourself too hard." Said Mother. "Bye Athena." Said Father. "Bye bye Athena, we love you so much." Said Mother. "Bye Mom and Dad, I love you both too." Said Athena. She then headed towards her destination where she has to meet with Lucifer. "Now where is he….there he is, Lucifer!." Shouted Athena. "So you came, your presence tells that your parents have given you the permission to become a Mage." Said Lucifer. "Yes they did and now I'm gonna work hard to become the best Mage in the world."
