Katherine unlocked the door with a soft sigh, the familiar click of the latch sounding louder than usual in the quiet hallway. It was late, much later than she intended to be home, and though her body felt heavy from the long day, her heart was oddly light. The reason, of course, was walking right behind her.
Felix.
His tie was undone, the top buttons of his shirt loose, and his hair slightly tousled from running his hands through it earlier. He looked relaxed, almost boyishly smug, in a way that made her both roll her eyes and want to smile.
"Home sweet home," he murmured, his voice low and teasing as he stepped in after her.
Katherine shook her head, setting her bag down on the small table near the entryway. "You sound like you own the place."
"Give me time," he replied easily, lips quirking upward as he slipped his hands into his pockets.
