Chapter 12 - Opportunity of a Life Time (1)

My first day off in years ended in the blink of an eye. I ended up having to clean after my new roommate, Agent Cross, but that's nothing compared to the treacherous amounts of work that lay ahead of me. Today, I've returned back to the agency, but for some reason, I feel like everyone is looking at me funny...? I'm not going crazy... am I?

As Byung-Ho walked through the corridors of the Agency, he felt many eyes watching him. Many agents stared at Byung-Ho before turning to whisper in each other's ears.

Huh? What's their problem?

Tap... tap... tap...

His footsteps echoed as he continued down the long torturous hallways of the agency building.

He mumbled to himself bitterly as he reached his office desk.

"Did I do something weird...? Or is it..."

Byung-Ho paused before he was able to sit in his office chair.

Oh, right...

His face flushed a bright red color as he remembered the events of his day off.

I completely forgot that I made a fool of myself yesterday!

Byung-Ho quickly took a seat at his desk and covered his face with his hands.

Why did I do that?! F*ck!

A few of Byung-ho's coworkers appeared at his desk and nudged him reluctantly.

"Agent Phony?"

Byung-Ho immediately turned to look at the familiar faces of the coworkers he shared an office with.

"Hm..?"

He analyzed their expressions carefully as they glanced at one another.

They're making fun of me..?

The coworkers cleared their throats and began to smile while patting Byung-Ho's back.

"The Chief wants to see you. Oh, and he said he wanted to see you as soon as possible! Uh.. you have about 10 seconds? Is what he said..."

What..?

Byung-Ho immediately stood up and pushed his coworkers out of the way.

"You should have said that sooner!"

He quickly rushed out of the office and approached the stairs.

Taking the elevator would take too long...!

He basically flew down the stairs as sweat beads began to form on his face. The Chief did not tolerate tardiness. His punishments were especially severe for Byung-Ho specifically.

Tick.. tick.. tick...

How much time has passed? It's way past 10 seconds.. right? Or maybe I might still have time!

He slammed the meeting room door open while panting and glancing around.

Empty... wait. Huh?

His heart was beating rapidly as he stared at the empty room.

Crap.

He turned around and rushed back towards the stairs.

He's probably in his office, right?!"

Step, step, step, step

He climbed the stairs, taking 3 or more steps at a time. On the way, he passed multiple agents who watched Byung-ho struggle in amusement. Soon, he made it to the fifth floor.

Please.. please tell me he's here.

Byung-Ho was nearly out of breath as he slowly opened the Chief's office door. He peeked inside and saw Agent Triple sitting in front of the Chief as they conversed over tea. He silently entered the room with his head lowered.

"Chief..? You called for me?"

...

After a moment of silence, he slightly raised his head.

Huh?

Agent Triple and the Chief were looking at Byung-Ho like he was crazy.

...

"I never called for you..."

...

Byung-Ho stared at them in silence before turning around with a low laugh.

"Hm.. someone's getting hurt today."

Byung-Ho slammed the door shut and his eyes glowed red as he chuckled.

"Why does everyone enjoy watching me be miserable?"

He fixed his tie before cracking his head and stretching his limbs.

Whoever lied to me is going to f*king die today.

He braced himself for take-off, but before he could get the chance to go chasing after his coworkers, he was dragged back into the Chief's room. He turned around and saw Agent Triple dragging him and throwing him into the room.

"Wha-"

Clack

Agent Triple shut the door and crossed his arms while staring firmly at Byung-Ho.

"Agent Phony, are you being bullied by your peers?"

Byung-Ho narrowed his eyes and scoffed.

"Me? Being bullied? What a load of bull..."

He stopped himself from talking and paused.

"Wait.. am I?"

My coworkers have always been pushing me around and teasing me since I started working here! Shouldn't I be receiving praise and respect for my hard work?

The Chief cleared his throat and stood up.

"Now that I remember it properly, I did call for you, didn't I?"

He made his way to his desk and gestured for Byung-Ho to sit down in front of him.

"I apologize for the confusion, I got carried away while talking with Agent Triple. Come, take a seat."

Byung-Ho stared at the Chief as his eyes twitched in distress. This guy can NOT be serious right now. First, he sends me out in a dress so I could humiliate myself, then he scams me of my day-offs, and now he wants to make me suffer in my own agency building...

Despite Byung-Ho's complaints, he sat in the chair obediently. The Chief glanced at Agent Triple and gestured for him to leave before turning to look at Byung-Ho again.

"Agent Phony, we have interrogated Frederick Albashour. However, his words remain unclear. He states that a woman tipped him off on a clue about the ring."

Blah blah blah.. why the hell is he only telling me about this?

"Chief, shouldn't you hold a meeting about this? Why tell me specifically?"

The Chief pulled a file from underneath his desk and handed it to Byung-Ho.

"Take a good look at this information."

Byung-Ho stared at the file before glancing up at the Chief.

"What is this?"

The file is filled with gibberish that I can't understand. It's a bunch of tech nonsense.. or whatever.

The Chief's expression became serious as his voice lowered.

"Agent Phony, I have a very important mission for you."

...

An important mission? For me?? Is this.. an opportunity to get promoted??

Byung-Ho stood up tall and saluted.

"I'm ready, Chief!"

He yelled out as the Chief nodded.

"You're mission is..."

Byung-Ho waited in anticipation as the Chief began to hold the file up.

The Chief trusts me more than Agent Triple for this mission...

"Your mission is to bring this file to Agent Anchovey, who is currently away on break."

...

What was I expecting.

Byung-Ho snatched the file from the Chief and immediately left the room, fuming. He sighed as he leaned against the door after he shut it. He stared at the file once again before noticing that Agent Triple was still lingering outside the office.

"...what do you want."

He mumbled while glaring at Agent Triple.

Agent Triple glanced at the file with his cold stare. He didn't say a single word.

Did he hear the conversation inside the room? Is he going to make fun of me now?

...

"I'll take the file to Agent Anchovey. You should stay and rest for a moment."

He took the file out of Byung-Ho's hands and began to depart down the stairs without another word.

Byung-Ho watched in shock.

That guy... is he trying to steal the spotlight from me again?? He always does crap like this!

Byung-Ho went chasing after Agent Triple and ran in front of him.

"Why? What do you get from doing someone's work for them?"

He crossed his arms as he looked up at Agent Triple with a suspicious glare.

...

Agent Triple walked around Byung-Ho and spoke quietly.

"In return.. for last time."

He continued to depart down the stairs, leaving Byung-Ho behind in confusion.

For last time? What is he talking about?

He was about to follow Agent Triple down the stairs, but realized that it wasn't worth it. Instead, he went back to his office and made his way to his desk in exhaustion. His coworkers kept glancing over at Byung-Ho with the same judgemental looks from this morning.

Today couldn't get any worse...

....

I need to stop saying that.

Byung-Ho stood in front of his desk as his eyes twitched in irritation.

"Why are you everywhere I go nowadays?"

Agent Cross stood in front of Byung-ho's desk with a big cardboard box in his hands. He smiled and scratched his head while laughing softly.

"My agency wanted me to move into your department. So we could bond together!"

Byung-Ho dropped to his knees in the middle of the office.

"Agent Cross.. are you lonely? Why are you doing this to me?! We already live together, what more do you want from me??"

Agent Cross quickly set down the cardboard box and pulled Byung-Ho off the ground in a hurry.

"Oh no, are you okay?"

Byung-Ho silently let himself be pulled up by Agent Cross. He let out a sigh and sat at his desk.

I shouldn't be rude to a new employee...

"...I'm fine. Where is your desk going to be?"

He said while beginning to turn on his desktop.

"Oh, they told me to share with you."

...

You've got to be kidding me.

Byung-Ho forcefully smiled and scooted his chair over.

"Right, right.. because there's enough space at this desk for the two of us. Yep..."

Agent Cross smiled excitedly and scooted a chair into the tight space between the desk.

"Back in my agency, I had my own office to myself. Haha!"

Byung-Ho slowly turned to look at Agent Cross with an eery smile.

"That sounds great... now could you be quiet for a moment? I have some work to get done..."

Does that mean that Agent Cross is a higher-up at his agency? What the hell is he doing here as an employee?

Agent Cross watched Byung-ho's computer screen curiously. Byung-Ho paid no attention to Agent Cross as he pulled open his email. And to his dismay, it was filled with tons of work.

Sigh..

He then opened up the Rapid1 information board to check what the others were up to. His eyes widened as he stared at his screen.

What.. the f*ck.

Agent Cross tilted his head as he stared at the screen along with Byung-Ho.

"That's us!"

He said with excitement.

The information board was filled with videos of Byung-ho in his female disguise as Rosaline Rashida. Lots.. and lots.. of videos.

No wonder everyone was looking at me weird today.

"Hah... hahaha..."

Byung-Ho covered his face with his hands and began to laugh hysterically.

"Whoever did this... is going to get sh*t shoved down their throat."
