Rayleigh raised an eyebrow, looking between her and Luffy with a knowing smirk.
Luffy, on the other hand, just grinned, as if completely unaffected. "Damn right."
Kuina rolled her eyes, but there was no real annoyance in her expression.
Shakky, watching the entire exchange, let out a low chuckle, taking another drag of her cigarette.
"Well," She mused, her eyes twinkling, "This is turning into quite an interesting day."
----
After fifteen minutes, Luffy and Kuina stepped out of Shakky's bar, the faint scent of smoke and laughter lingering in the air behind them.
The day was alive with the distant hum of Sabaody's bustling activity—pirates and merchants moving about, unaware that the pair had far grander plans.
Luffy cracked his knuckles, rolling his shoulders as he stretched. "Alright, let's get to work. Gion should be arriving soon… and if I'm not wrong, my old man will be coming too."
Kuina gave him a side glance, smirking. "Garp-san, huh? I bet he's gonna try and punch you the second he sees you."
Luffy grinned mischievously. "Wouldn't be a proper meeting if he didn't."
Without wasting time, the two sprung into action. Luffy's Observation Haki spread like a wave, scanning for the worst criminals in the area. Within minutes, they had identified and hunted down a number of pirates—only those with heinous crimes on their records.
Luffy took care of the stronger ones, dealing with them effortlessly, while Kuina cut through others with swift, precise movements, her sword flashing in the dim light.
Some of the pirates tried to run, but Luffy was faster. With a flicker of movement, he warped right in front of them.
"Boo."
The pirates barely had time to scream before Luffy knocked them out with a casual flick of his wrist.
As for the ones with lesser crimes, Luffy and Kuina let them go with a warning.
"Stay out of trouble," Luffy told them, his voice carrying a weight of authority. "Next time, I won't be so generous."
Some nodded furiously, scrambling away. Others hesitated, looking at Luffy with conflicted gazes—perhaps realizing that the Navy had never looked so… free.
By the time they were done, Luffy and Kuina had dragged at least 50 to 60 pirates behind them, tied up like a parade of defeated criminals.
And that's when the ship arrived.
The massive Marine warship docked with a loud THUD, its arrival imposing and authoritative. Soldiers scrambled as a tall, muscular figure leaped down from the deck—his iconic white coat billowing behind him.
Garp landed with a loud stomp, cracking his knuckles, his booming laughter echoing across the area.
"BWAHAHAHAHA! WHERE'S MY GRANDSON?!"
The sheer force of his voice made some of the Marines flinch, their faces going pale as they hesitated to answer.
Before they could, another figure gracefully descended from the ship—Vice Admiral Gion. Unlike Garp, she moved with a fluid elegance, her sharp eyes scanning the area before settling on Luffy and Kuina.
THUD!
Garp's massive boots came to a halt as he laid eyes on Luffy.
"Brat!" He barked, striding forward.
Luffy, unfazed, grinned up at his grandfather. "Yo, gramps."
The Marines tensed, fully expecting Garp to throw a punch.
But instead of delivering his usual fist of love, Garp stopped in front of Luffy and clapped a heavy hand on his shoulder.
"Hah!" He grinned. "You did good, boy."
All the Marines froze.
Kuina raised an eyebrow.
Even Luffy blinked twice.
Garp laughed heartily, slapping Luffy's shoulder again, nearly making him stumble. "Not bad! You freed innocent people from slavery and remembered to round up the criminals. That's what justice should be!"
The Rear Admiral's jaw dropped.
Gion looked mildly amused, while some of the lower-ranking officers were staring at Garp like they had just witnessed a miracle.
Luffy, rubbing his shoulder, gave his grandfather a skeptical look. "You feeling alright, old man?"
"Bwahaha!" Garp ignored him, instead turning to the stunned Marines. "Listen up! I'm forcing Sengoku to promote my grandson and this girl here!"
He gestured to Kuina. "It's a waste to keep them at such a low rank. At least make 'em a Rear Admiral or Vice Admiral!"
The Marines collectively choked on air.
"V-Vice Admiral?!" One of them stammered. "B-But Vice Admirals spend years working their way up—"
Another whispered furiously, "Luffy's barely even been in the Navy for long! How is that fair?!"
Gion, standing beside them, let out a small sigh, pressing two fingers against her temple. "I knew he'd pull something like this…"
Luffy, for his part, looked distinctly unimpressed. "Nah."
Garp blinked at him. "What do you mean 'nah'?"
Luffy shrugged, crossing his arms. "I don't want it. I'll only accept the rank I actually deserve."
His eyes flickered with sharpness. "If you really wanna help, just clean up the mess and deal with the World Government and Grandpa Sengoku."
Garp paused—then grinned, sticking a finger into his nose. "Tch. Fine, fine."
He smirked. "Either way, anyone who tries to cause you trouble has to go through me first!"
Luffy snorted. "Yeah, yeah. You're just bored and looking for an excuse to punch someone."
Garp laughed loudly, giving a proud nod as he turned to the Marines. "Alright! Get these scumbags loaded onto the ship! We're taking 'em to Impel Down!"
The Marines scrambled into action, hauling the captured pirates aboard.
And that's when Gion smirked, stepping toward Luffy.
"You really are a troublemaker," She teased, arms crossed. "Barely got out of punishment, and you're already causing another mess."
Luffy just grinned, completely unbothered. "What can I say? Trouble follows me."
Gion sighed dramatically. "How exhausting."
Luffy leaned in slightly, lowering his voice so only she could hear. "Then let's go back and 'spar' to relieve some stress."
His eyes gleamed with undeniable mischief. "I really wanna defeat you… and taste your lips again."
Gion froze. Her cheeks flushed a deep red, and her grip tightened on the hilt of her sword. She whipped her head around, checking if anyone overheard—but thankfully, the Marines were too busy with their work.
She turned back to Luffy and pinched his nose, grumbling under her breath. "You're too naughty."
Luffy, still grinning, didn't even flinch. "Oh? You're worried about me talking openly—"
He leaned even closer, voice dropping to a husky whisper. "But not about the kissing?"
Gion's face burned hotter, redness spreading over to her neck.
She glared at him, but… what could she say? He wasn't wrong. She really was looking forward to it.
Luffy chuckled, enjoying her flustered state.
Kuina, watching the entire exchange, let out a soft giggle, shaking her head. "Luffy, you really don't hold back, do you?"
Luffy turned to her, smirking. "What, jealous?"
Kuina rolled her eyes. "Tch. You wish."
Gion, still red-faced, cleared her throat. "Enough messing around. Let's go."
Luffy laughed but didn't argue. After all, he was very much looking forward to their "sparring session."
