Bella's eyes lowered to Alexa's stomach and rested there for a few quiet seconds. A flicker of emotion crossed her face, but it disappeared almost immediately, replaced by a cool, unreadable calm.
"Are you actually stupid?" Bella said coldly. "You tried to frame me with this act… and you didn't even think about your own baby."
A wave of disgust rose in her chest. Alexa's behavior made her feel sick, yet at the same time, she felt a reluctant sympathy for the unborn child. That baby had done nothing wrong. What if Bella hadn't reacted in time? What if Alexa had truly fallen? The thought tightened Bella's jaw, and her fingers curled faintly at her side as she forced the feeling down.
"Don't accuse me!" Alexa snapped, her voice trembling with anger and fear. "You're twisting everything!"
