Lydia sat on the terrace, quietly having lunch while reading a book.
Anna sat nearby.
The afternoon was peaceful, but Lydia could not enjoy it.
Her mind kept going back to Tatiana.
Everything about the situation bothered her.
Tatiana had planned it carefully. She had thrown herself down the stairs, allowed everyone to believe she had been pregnant, and now had a doctor supporting her story.
And Lydia had only one witness.
Anna.
Lydia knew how dangerous that was.
She tried to push the thoughts away.
She had spent enough time thinking about Tatiana.
She needed to focus on something else.
Anything else.
Her eyes moved over the words in the book, but she barely understood what she was reading.
Then Ivan came to her mind.
His face.
His voice.
The way he had looked at her when he told her that he believed her.
He had not doubted her.
Even after everything that had happened, Ivan had believed her.
Lydia slowly lowered the book.
Maybe this was the right time.
