Andrew knew that raising one child wouldn't be easy. He had no delusion that it was going to be hard, but he did realise he had some delusions when it came to raising two.
He didn't think it would be that much harder. He knew it would be hard, of course, child-rearing was not an easy task, but he was wholly unprepared.
It was only made worse that the twins did not like him.
Maxwell was doing his best to convince Andrew otherwise, but Andrew could not be convinced. Every time the twins would cry when they were moved away from Maxwell and Andrew would do his best. He wanted Maxwell to take care of himself, have breaks, but they would not be soothed by Andrew.
It was made worse when the others, May included, could soothe his children, but Andrew couldn't.
It was a blow that Andrew had a hard time recovering from.
