Chapter 273 - Unwanted Responsibility

MHA Universe, Earth, Japan, Musutafu.

"Found you~~!" The brown-skinned rabbit woman, Usagiyama Rumi, also known as the Rabbit Hero: Mirko, mouthed from outside the skylight Alfonzo usually used to enter the building.

"Fuck..." Alfonzo groaned as he rubbed the bridge of his nose in frustration.

"Don't tell me you never expected this." Tatsuo said, his tone dripping with schadenfreude. "I mean, this is your Hero Agency. It was only a matter of time before she came here to look for you, right?"

"Honestly, I did." Alfonzo replied. "In the beginning, anyway. But after months of having peace at home, I started to think she had muscles in her brain, too. So, I dropped my guard."

"I guess that makes sense." Tatsuo replied with a nod. "But she's here now. So, what are you gonna do?"

"*Sigh* We'll have to think of something to keep her from coming here too often." Alfonzo said calmly. "For one, neither of us is going to cook while she's here, got it?"

A few seconds passed after Alfonzo asked his question. Yet, he did not receive a response. And he had a pretty good idea why that was. And when Alfonzo turned to look at the spot where Tatsuo had been talking to him from, he was not surprised to see that it was now empty.

"That little bastard ran away." Alfonzo grumbled.

*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*

At the sound of Rumi banging on the skylight, Alfonzo exhaled a long sigh as he looked up. The sight of Rumi's face and breasts pressed against the glass of the skylight made it so that Alfonzo could not argue with something Tatsuo said in the past.

"Well, she really is hot as hell." Alfonzo muttered as he raised his hand while activating his [Quirk].

*Click!*

A moment later, the skylight opened. When it did, Rumi's face lit up. Then, she slipped inside, falling to the floor before landing softly.

"Ha!" Rumi barked a laugh as she straightened up to her full height. "You can't run now, Static."

"Yeah, this is kinda where I live." Alfonzo replied in a tired tone. "So, of course, I'm not running away."

*Smack!*

"Good!" Rumi said energetically while punching her right hand into her left palm. "Now, fight me!"

"Ugh!" Alfonzo only groaned. "Fine... But if you lose, don't keep bothering me in the future."

"No promises~." Rumi replied while cracking her knuckles. "If the fight is as fun as I think it's gonna be, I'm gonna come find you all the time~."

"God damn it." Alfonzo muttered to himself while taking a fighting stance. "She's like a female Natsu."

In the next instant, Alfonzo was forced to tilt his head to the side as Rumi's right foot flashed past.

"I don't know what you just said, but I get the feeling you were insulting me." Rumi said with her leg still extended.

"Is it an insult if I'm telling the truth?" Alfonzo asked while glancing at Rumi's muscular leg. "Anyway, let's get this over with. I've been running from you all day and I'm hungry."

Hearing that, Rumi's mouth curled into a battle hungry smile. She then hopped away and readied herself for a fight.

*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*

Meanwhile, Tatsuo, who had blinked back to his bedroom, chuckled to himself when he heard the sounds of collision coming from above. At the same time, the thought of Alfonzo's expression when he realized that he had been left alone made him feel a bit regretful.

"I should have left my phone behind to record the look on Alfonzo's face." Tatsuo muttered to himself between chuckles. "I bet Lici would have loved to see it."

Shaking off the regret, Tatsuo took his smartphone out of his pocket while considering sneaking back into the gym to record Alfonzo and Rumi. A moment later, however, he shook off the thought and put the phone down on his desk.

"Nah... I'll just leave it be." Tatsuo said to himself. "I should start getting ready for school tomorrow. I bet Akatsuki and Sakura will get a kick out of the story, though."

With that said, Tatsuo stood up from his desk and started taking off his workout clothes as he made his way towards the bathroom adjoined to his bedroom.

Meanwhile, the fight between Alfonzo and Rumi continued deep into the night. Yet, by the time they stopped, a winner could not be decided. In the end, Rumi left through the skylight with an unwanted promise to come back and fight again later.

As for Alfonzo, he could only watch Rumi leave with a forlorn expression on his face.

"Damn you, Tatsuo." Alfonzo muttered in irritation. "You'll pay for ditching me like that. I don't know how, but I'll get you back for this."

The rest of the night passed peacefully after that. The following morning, Tatsuo, after taking care of his morning routine, made his way down to the kitchen for breakfast. To his surprise, however, Alfonzo was already sitting at the table with two plates of breakfast and a lunch box sitting on top of it.

"Oh, I thought you'd sleep in today." Tatsuo said with a smirk as he approached the kitchen table.

Instead of replying, Alfonzo only glared at Tatsuo. A moment later, he turned away and started eating his breakfast, causing Tatsuo to chuckle.

"Just shut up and eat." Alfonzo grumbled through a mouthful of food. "Then, get the fuck out and go to school."

"Oh, come on, Alfonzo." Tatsuo said while taking his seat. "It's not that bad. You've got a hot rabbit girl obsessed with you. Trust me, I already know exactly what that's like."

"You think Shea and Mirko are the same?" Alfonzo asked while shooting Tatsuo another glare.

"Not in the slightest." Tatsuo replied. "But that doesn't change the fact that they're both hot as hell and rabbit girls. Besides, if what you told me about Lici is true, I'm sure she'll be ecstatic when she finds out about this."

"*Sigh* The worst part about what you said is that I can't even deny it." Alfonzo replied while letting his shoulders slump. "But none of that will matter if she's not the one who gets voted into the [Chat]."

"Hmm... That's true." Tatsuo said while picking up his chopsticks. "But I'm sure I could convince Akatsuki and Sakura to vote for her. With you, that would be five of the ten votes. And with Lici, that would make the majority. So, there's nothing to worry about, right?"

With that, Tatsuo dug into his breakfast. However, before he even swallowed his first bite, he raised an eyebrow. Then, he turned an amused expression in Alfonzo's direction while continuing to chew his food.

"Really? You added a laxative to my food?" Tatsuo asked with a grin on his face after swallowing the food in his mouth. "So, you wanted to get me back that badly, huh?"

Hearing Tatsuo's question, Alfonzo raised his head and looked Tatsuo int he eyes with a triumphant expression on his face.

In response, Tatsuo only shook his head before continuing to eat.

"Dude, do you have any idea how many kinds of poison I was exposed to when I was in DOATEC's custody?" Tatsuo asked without looking up. "A little laxative like this one won't even make me fart."

At first, when Alfonzo heard Tatsuo's explanation, he was shocked. Then, he showed an expression filled with annoyance. But when he realized just how much DOATEC put Tatsuo through to turn him into their weapon, his expression turned to one filled with rage while his [Quirk] activated, and sparks of electricity crackled around his body.

"Sorry, Man." Alfonzo said after calming down. "I forgot about that."

"Don't worry about it." Tatsuo replied nonchalantly. "That whole organization is marked for death. With the exception of Helena Douglas, I'm going to kill everyone."

The sheer killing intent in Tatsuo's words made Alfonzo shiver for a moment. But as someone who had killed his fair share of Dark Wizards, he had no intention of trying to talk Tatsuo out of it. He did intend to remind Tatsuo of someone, though.

"Yeah, but that chick Lisa Hamilton..." Alfonzo said cautiously. "She was a spy for Helena. Are you planning to kill her, too?"

"She was the one who led all the experiments performed on me." Tatsuo replied in a deadpan tone. "So, yes, I do, in fact, plan on killing her."

"*Sigh* At least hear her out before you do something you can't take back." Alfonzo said solemnly.

Tatsuo ignored Alfonzo's suggestion and continued eating. At the same time, he felt bad about bringing up DOATEC. He never had any intention of killing the mood. But what was done was done. So, he decided to move on.

"Anyway, the USJ incident should be coming up in the next few days." Tatsuo said. "Are you gonna find a way to be there for it? We both know that All Might will be late to the party."

"Hmm? Oh, that should be coming up soon, shouldn't it?" Alfonzo thought aloud. "Yeah, I think I will. But I don't intend on making it public knowledge. I mean, seeing Shigaraki freak out when he sees someone he didn't expect to be there should be pretty hilarious."

"Definitely." Tatsuo replied while grinning mischievously. He then put his chopsticks down, stood up, and picked up his plate. "Anyway, I'm gonna head out. I'll see you later."

"Yeah, see ya." Alfonzo replied casually as he continued eating.

With that, Tatsuo put his plate in the kitchen before leaving the building. About half an hour later, he was stepping into Class 1-A. Immediately upon arrival, he looked around to see who was in the room. And just as he expected, Akatsuki and Sakura were there, Sakura sitting at her desk while Akatsuki sat on as they chatted. Momo and Mina were also gathered with them, the quartet engaged in girl talk.

"Yeah, I'm not getting in the middle of that." Tatsuo muttered to himself as he stepped further into the room. "I'll tell them about Alfonzo and Mirko later."

With that, Tatsuo walked towards Eijiro and Mezo, who were talking about their workout routines, and joined their conversation while waving at the girls along the way.

*Ding!* *Dong!* *Dong!* *Ding!*

Before long, all the students arrived in class and the bell rang. While the bell was ringing, Shota also entered the classroom to start the homeroom.

"Alright, listen up." Shota said in his no nonsense tone. "We have something important to discuss. After that, you can spend the rest of homeroom however you want."

Hearing that, most of the students tensed. The last time Shota sounded this serious, he told them that whoever had the lowest cumulative score on the [Quirk] Apprehension Test would get expelled.

Meanwhile, Shota let his eyes roam over the class. And when he saw he had everyone's undivided attention, he continued.

"This is the third day of school." Shota said. "It's been long enough for you all to get a glimpse of your classmates' personalities and qualities. So, it's time for you to choose your class representative."

The class fell silent for the next few seconds after Shota's announcement. Yet, they all seemed to regain their senses at the same time.

"It's a normal school activity!" The class shouted in unison, some of them even looking like they might cry thanks to the sense of normalcy.

"This is still a high school." Shota said dismissively. "As for how you choose your class rep? I don't care. Figure it out yourselves."

With that said, Shota turned around and headed towards the corner of the room where a yellow sleeping bag lay. Then, he climbed inside.

"Wake me up after you've decided." Shota said while waving dismissively at the class. "Oh, and you have to pick a vice-rep, too. Don't forget that."

With that, Shota pulled his head into the sleeping bag and ignored the class. A moment later, the sound of soft snoring could be heard, leaving the class to gape at Shota dumbfoundedly.

"Well, that happened." Tatsuo muttered.

"Alright." Tenya said as he stood up from his seat. "Since we have to choose our own class rep and vice-rep, the best way to do so is via a vote."

As he continued speaking, Tenya stepped up to the teacher's lectern and faced the class.

'He's trying really hard to show his qualities as a leader, isn't he.' Tatsuo, Akatsuki, and Sakura thought simultaneously.

"So, everyone, write down the name of the person you want to vote for and bring it up here." Tenya said. "When everyone is done, I'll count the votes and write them down on the board for everyone to see."

"Who the hell put you in charge, four-eyes?" Katsuki asked aggressively.

"It's the simplest way to do this, though." Momo said. "I agree with Ida-Kun's proposal."

The rest of the class had no objections, either. So, they all pulled out their notebooks and started writing down the person they wanted to vote for.

"Tch! Bunch of extras." Katsuki grumbled discontentedly.

Even so, Katsuki joined everyone in writing down names on a slip of paper. And before long, everyone had brought their papers up to the front of the class. Then, once everyone's votes were in, Tenya started reading the names on the slips, writing names on the board, and adding tally marks to signify the number of votes.

"Alright, everyone can see the results." Tenya said after adding the last tally mark to the board. "With this, the class rep has been decided. As for the vice-rep, we have a tie."

As he spoke, there was a hint of disappointment in Tenya's tone. And the reason for that was simple. He had not been chosen as either the class rep or the vice-rep. Instead, the one with the most votes was Tatsuo. And the tie for vice-rep was between Akatsuki and Momo.

"*Sigh* I didn't even vote for myself." Tatsuo muttered. "How did I end up as class rep?"

"It's because people recognize your excellence." Momo said calmly. "In fact, I voted for you."

"So did I." Sakura added.

"That's not a surprise." Akatsuki said with a shrug. "Anyway, how are we gonna decide who gets to be vice-rep?"

"Should we have another vote?" Mina asked.

"Do we have enough time for another vote?" Hanta asked in return.

"The manly way to decide would be with a fight." Eijiro said enthusiastically.

"We definitely don't have time for that, though." Ochaco said.

With that, a number of suggestions were put forth. Yet, no decision was made. However, an unlikely suggestion caught everyone's attention.

"Just let the pretty boy bastard decide." Katsuki said without even looking at the rest of the class.

Immediately, all the chatter stopped. Then, all eyes turned towards Tatsuo.

"Are you serious?" Tatsuo asked with an unwilling tone.

"That sounds fair to me." Kyoka said.

"I agree. *Ribbit*" Tsuyu seconded.

"Me, too." Toru said.

Most of the other students agreed, as well. As a result, the decision was left to Tatsuo. And Tatsuo looked like he would rather not have any of the responsibilities that went with the position, let alone the responsibility of choosing his vice-rep.

But the expectant expressions on his classmates' faces let Tatsuo know that they had no intention of letting him out of this. So, he gave up on even trying. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a one-hundred-yen coin.

"Alright, I'll just flip a coin." Tatsuo said as he positioned the coin on his right thumb. "Heads and the vice-rep will be Akatsuki. Tails, and it will be Yaoyorozu-San."

*Ting!*

Then, without giving anyone the opportunity to object to his irresponsible way of choosing his vice-rep, Tatsuo flipped the coin.

The class watched the coin flip through the air with incredulous expressions on their faces. No one expected Tatsuo to do something like this, after all. Even so, they watched with rapt attention.

*Ting!* *Ting!* *Ting!*

And when the coin eventually fell to the floor and bounced around a couple of times, they all craned their necks to see which side would be showing when it stopped moving.

"Tails!" The class called out in unison once the coin stopped. In response, Momo straightened her back while Akatsuki shrugged uncaringly. Like Tatsuo, she did not want the responsibility of being the vice-rep, either. Akatsuki then shot a triumphant glance in Tatsuo's direction.

Meanwhile, Sakura's expression darkened slightly.

'Now there's no getting around it.' Sakura thought to herself while her gaze shifted between Tatsuo and Momo. 'If she spends so much time with him, she's definitely gonna end up falling for him. *Sigh* Why couldn't I have been the vice-rep. Then, I'd get to spend more time with him alone.'

With the decision made, Shota was woken up, and the information was reported. Then, Shota left the room, leaving the students to their own devices for the rest of the homeroom period. After that, the rest of the morning passed without issue.
