Chapter 257 - Chapter 257 Duties and Promises fullfilled

Arthur didn't waste a second.

The political deal was struck, but the emotional truth had to be handled instantly.

He felt the weight of the moment, realizing his "conquest" of the Royal Selection was far more personal than he intended.

He used his Reality Blending to locate the jet and teleported himself to the plaza where Emilia, Rem, Sona, Kuroka, Koneko, and Asia were waiting.

Emilia and Rem rushed forward, the euphoria of their reunion still fresh.

Arthur held them both, then gently stepped back, his expression serious.

"I have news about the Royal Selection,"

Arthur began, his eyes meeting Emilia's.

"It's over. You've won. Guaranteed."

Emilia gasped, her silver eyes widening.

"Arthur, how? Did the political corruption—"

"I stopped the corruption. I also went to the palace and spoke to all the other candidates,"

Arthur confessed, taking a deep breath.

"I offered them the choice: cooperate and achieve their deepest desires through my support, or lose everything."

He paused, bracing for the inevitable shock of the next part.

"But the price they asked wasn't for gold or power over the military, Emilia. It was... personal. Crusch, Anastasia, and Priscilla all asked to join my family."

A stunned silence fell over the assembled group. Sona and Kuroka exchanged knowing, amused glances.

Rem and Emilia, however, did not react with anger or betrayal.

Instead, a wave of profound relief washed over their faces.

Emilia stepped forward, reaching out to cup his cheek with her hand.

"Arthur... you mean they agreed to share your burden? They want to join our family?"

"Burden?"

Arthur questioned, confused by her reaction.

"Emilia, I just committed to taking on three more wives for political convenience! I thought you would be furious."

Emilia smiled gently, and Rem stepped close to Arthur's other side, resting her head against his bicep.

"Arthur, you are the True Dragon,"

Emilia explained, her voice soft but filled with deep truth.

"You are more powerful than the world's concept of God. Rem and I have been utterly overwhelmed since we learned your true scale. We love you more than anything, but we knew we couldn't possibly be enough to shoulder all the attention, all the affection, and all the duties that come with being married to you."

Rem looked up at him, her beautiful eyes shining.

"It is true, Arthur-sama. Crusch-sama is fiercely competent, Anastasia-sama is brilliant with finance, and Priscilla-sama is powerful. If they share the responsibility and the emotional demands of being your partners, it means we don't have to worry about neglecting you, and we will not feel so small anymore."

"We are happy to have strong, new sisters,"

Emilia concluded, her smile genuine.

"They will help us protect this world. Welcome them, Arthur. It is necessary."

Arthur stared at them, the political chaos averted, the emotional barrier dissolved, and the shared realization of his nature accepted.

His heart swelled with gratitude for their boundless love and unexpected pragmatism.

With the crisis surprisingly averted, Arthur immediately shifted to stabilizing the political landscape and fulfilling his promise to Koneko.

"Emilia, Rem, I'm happy by your trust,"

Arthur said, squeezing their hands.

"But we have to move quickly. The kingdom doesn't know the election is over, and your rivals are still in the capital. Emilia, you need to go to the palace immediately. Rem, you go with her and take Sona with you. Sona, use your knowledge of governance and magic to help them formalize the transition and integrate the pledges made by the other candidates."

Sona nodded, adjusting her glasses.

"Understood, Arthur. I will ensure the transition is flawless and that the terms of the alliance are legally binding in both dimensions' contexts."

"And the others?"

Emilia asked, looking at the assembled group.

"The kingdom's affairs are now your priority,"

Arthur replied.

"I need to fulfill my own promises. Koneko is going on her training trip, and Asia needs to start her new, safe life. I'll take them and the rest of the crew to the Tower Dungeon."

Arthur quickly gathered his party for the Dungeon descent. He put the newly acquired Re:Zero allies—Emilia and Rem—into contact with his FF7/X-Men allies—Yuffie, Kitty, and Kurt—to coordinate the final clean-up of the capital's corruption, leaving the political theater behind.

"Alright, Koneko, your training starts now,"

Arthur declared.

"You, Kuroka, and Asia are going with Yuffie, Kitty, and Kurt. You're heading to the lower floors of the Tower. Yuffie knows the routes, and I want you, Kitty, to use your phasing ability for scouting and extraction only. Kurt, use your teleportation to keep them safe and together."

He looked at Koneko directly, channeling a serious intent.

"This is a serious grind, Koneko. No holding back. You'll be fighting monsters that require every bit of your strength."

Koneko nodded, her eyes shining with fierce resolve.

"I understand, Arthur."

Arthur then turned to Asia.

"Asia, this isn't a church, but your Twilight Healing is one of the most crucial in this training. Your job is pure support. Use your power to heal and protect the team. Stay close to Kuroka and Koneko."

Asia nodded, feeling secure in her purpose.

With a final wave and a promise to check in via their communication links, Arthur used his Reality Blending to quickly transport the entire party to the hunting ground for level 1-3.

Back in the now bustling capital, Emilia and Rem boarded the Stark jet with Sona, heading directly for the palace.

Emilia turned before the jet hatch closed, her silver hair shimmering in the sunlight.

She gave Arthur a look that was both royal and deeply intimate.

"Go, Arthur. Do what you must. Sona will help us. But you promised to check on us tonight, right?"

She asked, her blush deepened.

"Absolutely,"

Arthur promised, his hand over his heart.

"No matter where I am—I will visit you both tonight. We have much to celebrate."

With the promise sealed, the jet lifted off, carrying the new leaders of the kingdom toward their destiny.

Arthur stood alone in the plaza for a moment, the First Floor momentarily stable.

He had fulfilled his duty to his lovers, his partners.
