It was a quiet night with a bit of high temperature in the air. The clock struck 10 pm and Lana was asleep in her room.
Herman sat on a wooden chair on the porch smoking a cigarette and Reizel stood next to him smoking a cigarette.
The two men were enjoying their relaxing time away from the tiring work after a sweaty day.
"You must be wondering why I keep kalomba, right?" asked Herman who opened the conversation while exhaling cigarette smoke out of his mouth.
Reizel's attention was now fully focused on his father's words. He didn't answer out loud but his head nodded slowly.
"Do you think the world is fair?" Herman asked his son.
"Why do you ask like that, dad?" replied Reizel who immediately put out his cigarette so he could chat with more clearance.
"You should already know the answer. That also includes wealth. No matter how hard we work, we'll still be poor."
"That's why Lana goes to school, right?"
