That's why, she needed to prevent that. If Arin and Yggdrasil were dead, Sariel will beat Ledaine on her own. In an odd way, Yggdrasil wanted to prove herself. She had an odd inclination to believe Sariel could single handedly solve the apocalypse, and now she wanted to match or surpass that unfounded expectation. Perhaps something lurked within Sariel, or something within Sariel was special.
That sounds about right, it must be {Swap}. It held unlimited potential. She still remembered when the sky inexplicably darkened in her match against Sariel. The time Sariel took power from the calamity to boost her magic to A grade. It was mostly gone, but a tiny fragment of the calamity seemed to have lingered, it held the same amount of magical energy as an entire C grade Traces existence. It fused with her being, likely giving her the potential to evolve or accelerate her growth.
Arin was A grade from the start. Yggdrasil was A grade because of {Feed}'s ability to usurp strength from The Observer and The Calamity. Sariel grew to the edge of C grade on her own, then trained to B, almost A after the encounters with the first 2 heavenly kings. Well, all of this was taking the assumption of the worse case scenario, where Sariel was the last human standing.
"We're here, just outside their entrance. Normally we'd need to book an appointment and get past security, but..." (Sariel)
Undoubtedly, one of the reasons why Sariel was necessary was because Yggdrasil wouldn't have been able to find this place on her own. They were racing against time after all. Guns pointed at them, they... Continued to walk forward. Moving through the main entrance. They were magical girls, any of Yggdrasil's lower powered {Feed} barriers would easily resist even high tech weapons. Rather, it's because technology had advanced and delved into precision energy weaponry that only broke down biological matter, it was perfect fuel for {Feed} to consume without any consequences.
The soldiers standing outside the headquarters continued to watch, hesitating to fire. Most of them had sweat running in cold blood, magical girls are intelligent beings, far more dangerous than Traces ever could be. The sentinels are out and urgently clearing out the vampires, at present there was no one who could stop these magical girls if they desired to rampage. That is, except the chief. A forgotten relic from countless years ago, a magical girl that didn't retire.
Compared to the outside, there were many magical girls as opposed to normal soldiers. Mainly those that dealt with administrative work, those that are more combat oriented have already been sent out. In a single day, most of the weakling gave already been cleared out. What needed an entire month was weeding out those intelligent vampires that decided to hide instead. Looking through every nook and cranny took far more effort than busting a head off.
What that all came down to, was a bunch of support type magical girls. They could overpower normal soldiers or armies, sure, but they were also adapted to a sedentary lifestyle. What greeted them behind lavish translucent glass doors was an office space. Ordinary beyond ordinary, this was the headquarters of humanity. It was a space made to govern as efficiently as possible, peace has enabled this paradym of logic.
If it had been a one on one, perhaps they would have feared the newcomers. Inexplicably high ranking magical girls had arrived after all, the higher the less comprehensible. They were akin to nuclear warheads, tactical weapons meant to change the map itself and the pace of war. One lady in office wear casually walked up to them.
"... Did you ignore the guards outside? At least they trained well enough to preserve their own lives...
So, what brings you here today?" (Lynnie Tan)
Her name shows upon her name tag, her family name reveals a particularly ancient ethnicity. Many ethnicities were lost during the age of mystery, classical old names like this were hard to find throughout the world.
"Eterna. We need to kill her, the enemy this time... Stole her authority." (Yggdrasil)
"We don't have time. A new deity is about to descend." (Sariel)
They speak as if their emotions were restrained, squeezed through exposed tongues and tensed jaws. Neither seem to be joking, despite having mention the greatest blasphemy. Declaring deicide in front of a follower... There was no time for games, Yggdrasil decided that she'd push through by brute force if she needed to, and Sariel merely followed up. This decisiveness was the opposite of Arin, who worried too much over too many things to progress forward.
Naturally, it could also be described as Yggdrasil's shortsightedness. Lacking foresight, a crude approach wouldn't be responded with a receptive welcome.
"Turn around, and get out of here. It doesn't matter who you are, you can't just say nonsense like that." (Lynnie)
Her face was stern and her voice was firm, but inwardly she was sweating. She couldn't sense anything more than two C grades here, but that was just it. Her senses couldn't identify B grade and above, to her body it just felt like an excessive amount of magic was chaotically swirling in front of her. These two are strong! How many bodies would pile up before they could stop them? Was it possible to even stop...?
Yggdrasil stepped forward. Time was running out, perhaps Arin should have set out to leave earlier rather than leisurely rest at Faramicia's home. Did she know beforehand that she would use her trump card? No... She was saving it for the fight with Ledaine.
"S... Stop!" (Lynnie)
It looked a little comical to see an office lady get physical, her palm pressed against Yggdrasil's shoulder. While it seemed like their goal was crazy, the office workers still respected that Yggdrasil didn't get violent. She merely continued to push, using her body weight to grind against the palm attempting to stop her.
"P-please... Eterna... She doesn't deserve this. She's been working so hard for all of us... For humanity, in these past 11508 years." (Lynnie)
More of the staff began to stand behind her. C grade strength was no joke, Yggdrasil was overpowering the pushback with sheer strength, but she didn't want to use too much strength. She found it a shame to damage the floor as her opponent's foot dug into the ground to support the pushback.
"I failed... I failed to kill the heavenly king behind this apocalypse. He usurped Eterna's authority, I can't beat him without getting rid of thta authority..." (Yggdrasil)
"Stop it. All of you." (?)
