Kira could not wrap her head around the thought of Mark getting a promotion. After all, she witnessed Mark's decent to hell and couldn't look away from the chaos at all.
It was one of those things that was painful to look at, but yet you kept on looking at the likely train wreck. Kira still remembered bracing herself for Lucius's wrath on Mark, but there was nothing for days.
But today, Mark was getting a promotion!
'A promotion!' She thought. 'A freaking promotion!'
She took a long look at the scene in front of her, Lucius sitting proudly on his 'ego throne', the employees all standing around the door and Mark who was on the floor now standing up with his face all gloomy.
Having no clue what the hell happened she decided to ask again to no one in particular. "What happened here?!"
Lucius just stared at her with a smug smirk and Kira swore she saw 'EGO' spelled out on his forehead.
No one answered her and some of the employees had started to sneak out of the conference room knowing fully well their boss and their fellow employee Kira had a way to burn anyone in their crossfire whenever the both of them had any misunderstanding.
Which was all the time.
Mark knew that too and started moving away slowly between them. And in no time the room was empty leaving just Lucius and Kira.
Lucius's smirk found a way to become more smug on his well sculpted face like that of a greek god. He stood up from his throne and walked slowly to the door to close it. He turned to look at Kira who now backed him.
Hearing the sound of the door close Kira asked again. "Are you going to tell me what happened now?"
"Sure."
Kira seemed puzzled from his quick reply and turned to face him.
"Mark got promoted today."
"So why did he look like he saw the devils horn?" Kira questioned but this only made Lucius chuckle which confused Kira more.
"Maybe he did." He answered and stepped forward nearing Kira's personal space.
Kira noticed this and stepped back. "So you promoted Mark and he looked like that?"
"Yes Kira." Lucius answered getting tired or this already.
"Then I don't believe you."
"Suit yourself I guess."
"Tell me what happened?"
Lucius face blanked in reply.
Kira seeing this sighed and asked instead. "So what's the freaking catch? Since its always like that with you."
This time the question only made him frown. "I gave him the perfect punishment for his wrong doing."
"And what was that?"
"You guess what it was."
"Two years in hell?"
"What's your deal with hell Kira?"
"You said I should guess."
"Then why hell?"
Kira shrugged. "I don't know. Seems like your thing."
Lucius sighed clearly over the conversation so he caved. "I slashed his pay and I want Helen back.
Kira gasped. "That witch!"
"Yes that very one Kira."
"That is low. So low. Even for you." She shook her head in disappointment.
"Really? I didn't fire him and you think its low."
"Firing him would have been better." Kira said still shaking her head.
"You know I can't do it."
"Oh." Kira muttered. "He has one too?"
The question made Lucius look away from Kira. He felt her eyes judging him and it made him angry. "Are you done with the interrogation?" Lucius asked ready to be done with the conversation.
Kira noticed his change in countenance and wondered what she said wrong. She was about to ask him what's wrong when she remembered she didn't get his email for the meeting. Immediately her blood steamed and all she could do to react was punch him.
POW!
Right on his shoulder.
POW!
Again, this time on his stomach.
She was about to send another punch to his stomach when he held her fists.
The both of them stood in silence unmoving. Kira's chest heaved as she breathes heavily, Lucius eyes moved all over her body and paused were her lips were.
He swallowed hard and grabbed her waist in a swift motion, making Kira breath heavier.
This time she swallowed hard as Lucius's tongue licked his lips while his eyes still focused on her own lips. Slowly Lucius leaned towards Kira.
Kira's breath hitched as Lucius closed the distance between them, tightening his firm grip on her waist.
His scent filled her nostrils and making her head spin.
"You punched me Kira." Lucius murmured, his was voice rough but yet teasing.
Kira's fists remained clenched by her side. Her body was filled with both frustration and a subsiding anger hund up in her throat. "Let me go." She demanded in a low voice that didn't seem convincing.
Lucius smirked. "Do you really want that?" His fingers traced her lower back.
This movement made Kira's already racing breath faster.
Kira swallowed hard. Her mind screamed yes, but her body betrayed her, leaning into Lucius. His lips hovered just above hers, his breath fanning across her skin.
"This is a dangerous game, Kira." He murmured. This sent goosebumps across Kira's skin.
She of course knew who Lucius was. The man that owned her life. And today he may own more.
His voice dipped lower. "Are you sure you're ready to play?"
